A hilarious first look at Saints Row 4 has come out of PAX earlier today. Players will remember the Saints Row franchise was previously with THQ, now Deep Silver/ Volition, and is a parody of the open-world crime genre of games, such as Grand Theft Auto. As the fourth game in the series, it is expected that the game will continue this parody of the genre.
In this gameplay video with Jim Boone, we take a brief look at the story as well as some of the new and interesting gameplay mechanics added into the series. You can see this video embedded below this article.
Saints Row IV releases on the 20th of August, 2013 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC gaming platforms.

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 Studio: BONES Publisher: Siren Visual Format: DVD, Blu-Ray (Reviewed) Release Date: March 21st, 2013 Price: $49.95 – Available Here
Overview
Humanity has been defined throughout its existence by it’s ability to survive. No matter the calamity we survive, we rebuild and we remember the pain. Tokyo Magnitue 8.0 focuses on the way we survive, what it means to be alive and the bonds that not even an earthquake could fracture.
Story
Make no mistake about it, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 is a very special anime series which remains very relevant in a post 3/11 quake Japan. The imagery and story conveyed in the series are affecting to say the least. BONES have handled this subject matter with great care in a way that is both compelling and thoughtful.
It is a simple premise, two children must make their way home in an earthquake stricken Tokyo. Through this premise, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 touches upon a topic which is not often explored in anime – natural disasters. While this theme has been the focus of many films and TV series, it isn’t a common subject matter for anime. There is a difference in the way Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 tackles the theme however, whereas most play it off for horror, this series turns it into a human drama about the bonds that cannot break no matter how hard the Earth may shake.
At its core, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 is about Mirai and Yuki, the two children who must journey across this wasteland where Tokyo once stood. Their relationship is the thread that ties everything together. The bond between siblings is a complicated and deep one that is difficult to understand unless you have one of your own. Mirai is tired of the world, a depressed teenage girl riddled with angst. Whereas Yuki is a wide-eyed little boy who sees magic in the world around him. The two meet with a woman by the name of Mari, who decides to serve as their guide across Tokyo.
It soon becomes clear that Yuki is the glue of his family and that Mirai depends on him for support more than she would like to admit. The relationship between the two is well defined from the get-go and the heartbreak and suffering they endure over the course of their quest to return home shows that even if the whole world fell apart around them there is nothing that could break their bond. They are family, it is a love that transcends all other and such is the case with Yuki and Mirai.
Over the course of the series, tragedy strikes more than anyone would like to see all of which culminates in what is one of the most devastating finales in recent anime history. This is a heartbreaking anime series that will hit you harder than most anime ever do. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 is a magnificent tale of an unbreakable bond standing defiant against a world in flames.
Visuals and Audio
How do you capture the horrifying nature of an earthquake without losing an air of hopefulness that things will be alright in the end? Well BONES manages to strike the perfect balance with Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, contrasting dark desolate landscapes with pockets of vibrant scenery and appealing character designs. The Tokyo setting is well conveyed with many familiar sights such as Tokyo Tower in a particularly memorable scene.
There is a level of soul on show in this series that is immediately apparent from its aesthetics alone. Not only is the art well designed but this series is incredible well animated, giving a realistic feel to the destructive titular 8.0 quake.
The series also features a brilliant soundtrack to boot. With many quiet moving tunes that compliment the on screen action creating an atmosphere of both tragedy and optimism.
Abingdon Boys School provide the series with it’s roaring opening theme ‘Your Song’ which is as stirring as it is exciting. This is counteracted by the smooth and reflective ending theme ‘M/elody’ by Shion Tsuji. Both tracks work a real charm for Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, setting the right tone for each and every episode.
This particular release features an English dub track alongside the original Japanese audio. I must say, the Maiden Japan produced dub is superb, with veterans Luci Christian and Tiffany Grant voicing the two leads with heart and soul that does these characters true justice.
Extras
Siren Visual’s Blu-Ray release of Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 comes packaged with a few special features worth taking a look at. Included is a special 60-minute digest of the series which is essentially an abridged version of all 11 episodes. There is also the standard trailers and clean opening and closing themes which is always nice to see. This is not bad for a Blu-Ray collection of this price, but it would have been nice to see some more insightful content, perhaps detailing the production of the series. Despite that, this is a good showing for a very solid release.
Overall
The general question Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 poses viewers is: what would happen if an 8.0 magnitude earthquake hit Tokyo? On the surface it is an exploration of that very idea, but beneath that it’s not about the things the quake breaks, but the things that it can’t. No matter how hard the world rocks, no matter how much it all just falls apart, the love between this brother and sister won’t go with it, their bond won’t break.
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 is a relentlessly moving story that you’ll find yourself swept up in with ease. It will break your heart with its tragic moments and it will inspire you through moments of triumph against a harsh world devastated by disaster.
You’d be hard pressed to find an anime series with as much heart and soul as Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, there is magic in this series that few can ever grasp. It isn’t for everyone, but if you’re willing to take the journey across Tokyo, I can guarantee one thing – Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 will leave an impact that you won’t soon forget. After all, some things in life truly are unbreakable.

Yesterday Famitsu leaks revealed that the next Dead or Alive 5 game is indeed on the way to Japan sometime this Fall on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 under the name of Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate. We learned a few details about the title, such as the fact that it will feature Momiji from Ninja Gaiden as a playable character and a new stage called Sky City Tokyo, but at that time no actual images of the game had been shown.
Now today Famitsu.com posted the below images which show Momiji in action as she fights Leifang in the new stage and apparently loses since it also shows off her losing pose. Currently no other details about the game have been revealed but we should expect more of an official announcement within the coming weeks.
After being announced, Magic 2014: Duels of the Planeswalkers has been somewhat quiet, but it seems that the waiting game has paid off as Wizards of the Coast has just released two new features that will be coming to the game. The first feature is the inclusion of Sealed Play, which fans of Magic the Gathering‘s physical trading card game may already be familiar with. Giving players the option to face AI or other players using a pool of 84 sealed cards to simulate booster packs, Sealed Play’s PvE will see players facing single-colored sealed decks in a six-deck ladder, until facing a sealed boss deck.
The other feature that was announced were the additions being made to the Slivers. Adding in 10 Sliver types, as well as Hive Stirrings to create Sliver tokens, the Slivers will surely provide for those fans that enjoy them and annoy those that can’t stand them. The full list of Slivers being added are:
Sliver Construct
Predatory Sliver
Groundshaker Sliver
Megantic Sliver
Blur Sliver
Striking Sliver
Thorncaster Sliver
Battle Sliver
Sentinel Sliver
Bonescythe Sliver
Magic 2014: Duels of the Planeswalkers will be releasing for XBLA, PSN, PC, Android, and iPad sometime this Winter.
A trailer has been released for this latest entry of the long-running tactical mecha RPG, showcasing crazy and exotic attacks fans have come to expect set against some blood-pumping music.
The new Super Robot Wars title is set in the same universe as its predecessors, La Gias, an underground dimension in the centre of the Earth that is unreachable to most. The story centres around four, robot Elemental Lords and their pilots.
The game is set for release in Japan on August 22 in digital and retail formats. Unfortunately, just like the recent 3DS game, an English or localised release is unlikely to happen.
Those who have now experienced the newest game from The Behemoth may agree that one of the best things about BattleBlock Theater are the cutscenes. Filled with random and absurdist humor, the cutscenes play off of both the narration of Will Stamper and the silly puppet theater-styled animations. But those that remember the original trailer back in 2011 may notice that the general presentation of the cutscenes is a little different than what they showed back then.
So, what is it that gives the game’s finalized cutscenes that extra something to bridge the visual gap to Stamper’s vocal mastery? Well, The Behemoth has revealed today that it is due to Derek Lieu, an animator extraordinaire, joining the team to take the cutscenes from Flash only to utilizing After Effects. Overall, the story is an interesting read and those wanting to find out more, especially those more technical details, can check it out from The Behemoth’s dev blog HERE.
Those that are still on the fence about BattleBlock Theater can check our review of the game HERE. BattleBlock Theater was developed by The Behemoth and published by Microsoft Studios for the Xbox Live Arcade.
Not to be mistaken with Django: Unchained. No D is silent.
The Man of Steel is back for another round of action in the new feature Superman: Unbound!
There is an unstoppable force blowing through the galaxy, destroying planets and only leaving destruction, and it’s next stop is Earth. Usually we would be lucky to have Superman around to save the day but this time Superman might not be enough…
The Official Synopsis:
Based on the Geoff Johns/Gary Frank 2008 release “Superman: Brainiac,” SUPERMAN: UNBOUND finds the Man of Steel aptly handling day-to-day crime while helping acclimate Supergirl to Earth’s customs and managing Lois Lane’s expectations for their relationship. Personal issues take a back seat when the horrific force responsible for the destruction of Krypton – Brainiac – begins his descent upon Earth. Brainiac has crossed the universe, collecting cities from interesting planets – including Supergirl’s home city of Kandor – and now the all-knowing, ever-improving android has his sights fixed on Metropolis. Superman must summon all of his physical and intellectual resources to protect his city, the love of his life and his newly-arrived cousin.
The mix between Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation have really brought out the big guns this time round, not only in animation and story but with a stellar cast to go with it!
Matt Bomer (White Collar) is to play Superman, John Noble (Fringe, The Lord Of The Rings) as Brainiac, Stana Katic (Castle) as Lois Lane and Molly Quinn (Castle) as Supergirl and so many more great actors, let alone voice actors. Golden Globe Award Winners like Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under) as Ma Kent, Wade Williams (The Dark Knight Rises) as Perry White, Diedrich Bader (The Drew Carey Show) as Steve Lombard, Stephen Root (Boardwalk Empire) as Zor-El and Alexander Gould (Weeds) as Jimmy Olsen.
The movie will be released on both DVD and Blu-Ray with the Blu-Ray featuring a whole lot of awesome extras:
A Sneak Peek at Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, the next DC Universe Animated Original Movie.
Featurette – “Kandor: History of the Bottle City” – An all-new featurette. Kandor: a peaceful scientific community dedicated toward the preservation of all that is good on Krypton, the home world of Superman. That is, until the city was ripped from its world and placed into a small glass bottle! This is the short story highlighting the shrunken city of Kandor. Its history just as fascinating as it is unique, here is how it ties in directly with the Man of Tomorrow.
Featurette – “Brainiac: Technology and Terror” – An all-new featurette. Mostly machine, but part sentient being, Brainiac steals cities and destroys worlds. Is he the most vile of Superman’s villainous foes? Experience the Brainiac mythology and find out why Superman barely stands a chance!
Audio Commentary – Featuring members of the creative team: Mike Carlin, Bob Goodman and James Tucker.
Four bonus episodes from Superman: The Animated Series (“The Last Son of Krypton, Part 1”; “New Kids in Town”; and “Little Girl Lost, Parts 1 & 2”), all handpicked by producer Alan Burnett.
