I have such an urge to tease our friends over in North America who STILL haven’t gotten a release of Bravely Default while us over here in Australia have been playing for what seems like ages now, but I wont because I love the American RPG players and they deserve more respect than that, luckily for them it seems as though Square Enix has opened up their hearts and from the sweet, love centre of the body comes a brand-new Bravely Default trailer that focuses on the characters of the game and on their backstories.
Tiz, Agnes, Ringabel and Edea are the four main characters and they each have a special backstory that both justifies their journey with each other and allows them the strength to percevere through the tough times. Bravely Default is set to get its release in North America on the 7th of February this year which isn’t too far away! Head down to the Featured Video section below to check out the full trailer and keep playing that demo!

After a sudden disappearance, Riley appears out of the blue to reveal a surprising announcement. The two escapes their old school for the last time, submerging themselves in a new adventure that will change their lives forever.

Titan Comics are extremely excited to announce that the hit comic book/graphic novel “Accident Man” is making a return to the shelves bigger and better than ever as a full collection release! Yes, this story about a smooth, suave and highly dangerous man will once again be available for a purchase with the only difference being that it compiles all four of the previously released issues into one big book. The collection doesn’t just feature the four issues though, it comes packed with never-before-seen art sketches and creator commentaries that will really give fans insight into both the creation of “Accident Man” and the development of comic books in general. The Official Synopsis provided by Titan Comics themselves is as follows:
The cult series returns, remastered and collected in its entirety for the first time ever!
From the writer of legendary titles Charley’s War, Marshal Law, Nemesis the Warlock and many more, with artwork by a murderer’s row of lost talent, and a cover by the indomitable Howard Chaykin! Mike Fallon is smooth, suave and sexy, and a genius at the subtle art of making an assassination look like one of those unfortunate, all-too-frequent accidents.
Handsome as James Bond, lethal as Carlos the Jacket, discrete as an air bubble to the he art. Broken neck in the shower? Poor guy probably slipped on the soap!
Written by Pat Mills and Tony Skinner as well as illustrated by John Erasmus, Martin Edmond and Duke Mighten – “Accident Man” is a clever comic that I’m sure all different comic book fans could get into. It is set for a release on the 5th of February and will be available at all good comic book retailers for $29.95 which is a great price for a collection such as this. He’s dangerous, he’s deadly but everything he does…he does in style, get ready to get your hands on “Accident Man”, coming soon.

Space☆Dandy Episode 3 – Occasionally, Even the Deceiver is Deceived, Baby
Getting into my list of favourite anime is no easy task. Unless a series turns out to be something truly special it is going to need some serious character depth and a gripping plot to be in with a chance of rubbing shoulders with such classics as Steins;Gate, Sakamichi no Apollon, and Toradora. But occasionally, a series comes along that fits none of those criteria and yet somehow tears my interest away from everything else. That anime, at the moment, is Space Dandy; the show that is lewd, brain-dead, and offers little of worth, but still has me coming back every week to see what ridiculousness lies in wait. Episode 2 didn’t strike a cord with a lot of people and raised the question how far can Space Dandy go before people begin to lose interest? Did the great anime gods listen to my prayers and get Space Dandy back on track this week?
How did you see through my flawless disguise!?!
Where episode 2 fell short was in its desperate attempt to be quirky while offering none of the high impact action that left everyone with mouths agape and towering expectations after its amazing introductory episode. Without the flourish brought about by its stunning chase scenes, Space Dandy is just an average comedy but when this episode brought them back it gave the show new life. Nobody went into Space Dandy expecting it to be a weird new take on the slice of life genre and Bones need to take note of that.
Slice of life? This anime is completely serious!
Episode 3 crash landed Dandy, Meow, and QT on another desolate planet after a desperate attempt to warp to the nearest Boobies resulted in the broken warp unit malfunctioning and sending them tearing through the universe, most likely breaking every conventional law of physics in the process. Disregarding simple matters like the ability to breath on the planet’s surface, Dandy quested forth in search of a hidden Boobies and ended up running into a beautiful woman being chased by a hoard of hideous aliens. Using his ray gun and limitless supply of bravado he “saved” her, but this glowing beauty was not all that she seemed. After scaring off an entire fleet of the Gogol Empire who had followed Dandy to the planet, a colossal beast erupted forth from her chest and consumed Meow. Dandy and QT rushed to Meow’s rescue to retrieve the Boobies point card he was holding onto and after an explosive battle involving Hawaiian Mechs and a mountain of food that was thousands of years out of date, they managed to apprehend the beast and get back their card. But … Where is Meow?
Ok, they’ve gone. Now it’s just you and me, sexy hologram.
What I found funny was how the dubbed version censored all of the breasts that made up the massive monster and yet the subbed version didn’t care for subtlety in the slightest. No trademark To-LOVE-Ru style light/shadow beams to hide the details, just a screen full of uncensored breasts. Then not long after that we got a prime example of exactly what I hoped this series would be. Space Dandy released his secret weapon, the Hawaii Yankee! His little cruiser suddenly donned a floral shirt and expanded into the single most ridiculous mech that anime has ever seen, before locking horns with the man-eating breast monster (Never have I been more concious of what I was writing than the phrase “Man-eating breast monster”). This is exactly what Space Dandy should be. Combine that with the amazing Han Solo ray gun scene where Dandy managed to miss every shot while looking impeccably fabulous and the latter half of episode 3 reminded me exactly why I went into this show so excited. It was nothing short of wonderful.
Hey monster! Thirsty? How about some Hawaiian PUNCH!
Space Dandy, like a lot of original series, is suffering from not knowing what fans like about the show. Personally, I love the space exploration side of it and if every episode revolved around the crew of the Aloha Oe ending up on a new, unexplored planet, I would be delighted. The alien-of-the-week formula suits this series perfectly and plays to its strengths rather than trying to force the uneventful slice of life formula on us which thus far has been unsupported by any character development. If it wants to be remembered for being silly, yet amazing, then Bones need to put all of their chips on the table and go all in with it or risk Space Dandy becoming nothing more than a humdrum failure that didn’t do anything right.
You do NOT want to know what I had to go through to get this…
All in all, episode 3 was a great reminder of what episode 1 built this show up to be. If the series continues like this I could forgive episode 2 and the fact that it is uncomfortably lewd at times (So … Much … Fanservice). Space Dandy still feels like it is flailing between being too immature for an older audience and too rude for a younger one, but if it can maintain the standard of episode 3, I can see it being remembered as a cult classic for years to come.
Maybe my aim would be better without the crystal meth?
Space Dandy is simulcasting in both subbed and dubbed formats and can be found airing on Adult Swim’s Toonami block or streaming on FUNimation in the US. UK viewers can catch it streaming on Wakanimand Australian viewers can catch it streaming on Madman with new episodes – both subbed and dubbed – up on the Madman Screening Room each Monday, at 1am AEDT.

As of the time I am writing this article, it is just under 9 days until Edge of Reality’s new free-to-play online slugfest Loadout is officially launched on PC. Since its early access began back in May 2013, Loadout has been experimenting with a lot of different game modes and the latest one to be announced is Annihilation.
Annihilation mode takes elements from the objective based gameplay players have come to know and love and combines it with a level up system that rewards you for individual excellence. Players can use their individual score to purchase performance injections that depending on which you select will either ramp up your power, toughen up your defence, or increase your healing capabilities on the battlefield. By completing a number of different objectives your team score will increase until eventually the shields on your opponent’s dropship will deactivate. When they’re open for attack you and your team have to go on the offensive, charge a huge hammer into their ship and shatter their power supply and any hope they had of victory.
Loadout is a fast paced third person shooter lets you customize your character and their loadout more than I have ever seen before in a video game. Due for launch on the 31st January, this game looks like a lot of fun and being free to play, it definitely looks like a game worth trying out.
Check out the trailer for Annihilation Mode below and let us know what you think in the comments!

ABOUT NEW WORLD INTERACTIVE
New World Interactive (“NWI”) is an independent game studio specializing in the development of innovative digital entertainment. NWI is one of the pioneering developers of “Early Access” games, leading the way of iterative design and community building to help build the future of gaming.
Overview
Originally born as a mod for Valve’s Half Life 2, Insurgency quickly gained popularity. New World Interactive have poured themselves into delivering a fully realized total conversion to one of the most well received mods in years. Bucking any notions that Valve’s own Counter Strike was a factor, they’ve set out to deliver a top-notch tactical shooter, but how well does Insurgency hold up? Is it a well executed mission or a botched operation?
Gameplay
The staff at New World Interactive boasts some impressive talent. The designers of both the Day of Defeat and Insurgency mods lead a team of about a dozen developers. Just a few rounds into their newest title, you’ll be able to tell they’re putting their skills and experience into crafting a fine multiplayer experience.
First, fans of the traditional run-and-gun shooters should approach Insurgency with a very different mindset. Unlike mainstream shooters that let you take a few shots, find your attacker, and return fire, Insurgency will grant you no such quarter. There are no hit indicators to show where your attackers are. They’d be of little solace. Here, death comes quick and often without warning.
A real sense of danger is a huge part of what makes Insurgency worth playing…over and over again. Though the impatient could quickly become frustrated, the game can be immensely engaging and rewarding for players who play with a cool head. Crouching, leaning around corners, coordinating with teammates, setting up kill shots, and taking objectives constantly feels both rewarding and exhilarating.
While death is swift, it isn’t permanent. Insurgency features an array of game modes, many of which allow players to revive if teammates complete objectives. There are three overarching modes: Tactical Operation, Sustained Combat, and Co-operative.
Tactical Operation is made up of Firefight (my personal favorite), VIP, and Search and Destroy modes, with the latter two pitting a defending team against an attacking team. Firefight forces teams to fight over three control points. The game ends when all three points are captured or a team is eliminated. Capturing a point respawns every slain team member, bolstering your charge. This can make for some incredible moments, allowing a single man to turn the tide of an entire match.
Sustained Combat presents players with Skirmish, Strike, and Push matches. Fans of Battlefield games will recognize Push as Insurgency‘s version of Rush, with one team defending points and the other pressing the attack up the map. Skirmish has five points that must be captured (or the opposing team must be eliminated), making for an entertaining tug of war. Finally, Strike has an attacking team using explosives to take out several weapon caches the defenders must protect.
Finally, Cooperative modes put a team of up to 8 people against enemy AI in various situations, typically conquering and defending objectives. It almost sounds unfair at first, but the enemies get progressively harder and your team can be wiped out quickly if you let down your guard, making for a tense challenge to the end.
Insurgency comes packed out with weapons for you to load out, featuring over 20 weapons with a variety of attachments. Some are faction-specific, while others are shared. Many may be class specific, helping you fill your role on the team. All have a fantastic sense of realism, whether in look, feel, or sound. Using Supply points, which are awarded to you after each round of a match, you can buy attachments or rearrange your loadout. These Supply points stick around until the end of a match, giving you a great sense of reward for team performance without unbalancing gameplay.
Community and teamwork are almost palpable with Insurgency. In my experience, everyone was willing to help folks out, even tolerating occasional friendly fire. Communication is strongly encouraged and microphone use is as common as text chat. After death, these aspects congeal into something even more impressive. Banter between downed combatants can make for some riotous moments as folks cheer wildly for a heroic comeback or lament defeat together. It’s a unique bonding experience you can’t get in games like Battlefield or Call of Duty.
Visuals Insurgency is a great looking game, no bones about it. The Source engine still looks strong, years after its initial release. Environments are quite detailed and well designed. The firearms you brandish not only look real – they feel real too. The attention to detail in both look and feel are great.
I have few complaints to levy against this game, but the environments could use some variety. The maps themselves are well thought out with various vantage points and obstacles, but many of the games are fought on sandy Middle Eastern streets, though the occasional mountain range is a welcome change of scenery. Still, at the risk of breaking the realism, some greenery or more visually varied maps would be a welcome sight.
Audio Insurgency‘s audio design is absolutely fantastic. The music is engaging and fits the theme well. The sound effects are some of the most well implemented I’ve seen in some time, with realistic gunfire, bullets whizzing overhead, explosions rocking your core, and more. Voice chat is also a great feature. Not only is it helpful for teammates, but it’s also directional and proximity-related, meaning you can hear enemy chatter if you’re within earshot. It’s a great touch to an excellent sounding game.
Overall
Overall, there’s very little Insurgency sets out to do that it doesn’t ace. There are some minor bugs and repetitive environmental aesthetics, but overall, those are slight complaints. There’s a wide variety of game modes that will keep you on your toes, the gameplay is smooth and engaging, and the game both looks great and sounds phenomenal. While the intense tactical combat and slower pace may not suit those looking for more twitch-based games, anyone willing to engage Insurgency and give it a fair shot will find a fresh, rewarding experience awaiting them.
