Today Respawn Entertainment co-founder Vince Zampela was pretty talkative over Twitter as he has dropped not one but two pieces of information that gamers have been interested in. You see, while EA‘s Titanfall is set to be released on the Xbox One and PC, it is also coming to the Xbox 360 and today Zampela revealed that Bluepoint Games is working on the 360 version of the game.

Also revealed today by Zampela is the fact that a Titanfall beta will be coming soon to the Xbox One and PC, though no exact start date for the beta has been announced at this time but will be revealed soon.

Hatsune Miku Project Diva f to be released in March

Recently over on the Sega blog, the company revealed that fans of Hatsune Miku won’t have to wait too much longer to take the Vocaloid with them wherever they go. The company has revealed that the PS Vita title, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f will be available for purchase from the PSN sometime this March.

Hatsune Miku Project Diva f was originally released in Japan before the PS3 version of the game so gamers in the West are actually getting the titles backwards, but fans of the series will probably still be interested in picking up the title once more, though it is worth noting that no price for the Vita game has been revealed at this point in time.

dance-in-the-vampire-bund-omnibus-1-coverSeven Seas Entertainment has announced that they are going to do something very interesting with Dance in the Vampire Bund. While they already own the license to release the original manga in North America, they have announced that they will be releasing two doujinshi collections for the series which were previously only available for purchase at Comiket and have never been assembled together in one single release, even in Japan.

They will be releasing these works in two bundles, Dance in the Vampire Bund: Forgotten Tales which is 192 pages of uncollected manga with lots of bonus material to thrill fans and that release will be available in June 2014. As for the second work, set to be released in October 2014, it is 280 pages in length and is titled Dance in the Vampire Bund: Secret Chronicles. This work features unpublished canonical short-stories that were overseen and illustrated by the series’ creator Nozomi Tamaki, as well as other bonus material.

Nagi no Asukara Episode 16 Impressions

Nagi no Asukara
Episode 16 – The Whispers of the Faraway Waves

I’m so glad Nagi no Asukara is continuing this anime season. I don’t think there’s anything else currently airing that’s quite like it. It truly has become something really precious as we progress into the second half. By temporarily removing some of the main characters, Nagi no Asukara has the time to develop minor characters that are proving to be more interesting. The pace of the show has slowed and every turn along the way is becoming more eye-opening and full of purpose.

As Hikari rejoins his class, now full of kids that were once five years younger, he becomes his usual self. Cracking jokes while classmates admire their new “senpai”. He’s also in the same class as his step-niece, Miuna, and her cheeky friend Sayu. This episode is heavily centred on these two girls who once looked to Hikari as their elder but now stand on equal footing.

nagi-no-asukara-ep16-02

More specifically, it’s about Miuna’s so-far unrequited love for Hikari which might be incredibly problematic considering he is her uncle. Even if he is a step-uncle. As the two head into the city to get new school uniform for Hikari, Miuna invites her friend Sayu to tag along in order to dispel the awkwardness of the trip looking like a date.

As they wander the city, Miuna and Hikari bicker like a married couple causing Sayu to feel a little and frustrated and wondering why Miuna even invited her in the first place. She can clearly see Miuna’s feelings for Hikari, who is a little dense and can’t seem to realise this himself.

nagi-no-asukara-ep16-03

We really see Miuna’s dedication to Hikari when she insists to the tailor to make his old white and blue uniform that the sea friends wore to school, rather than the brown and white which is worn by their surface-dwelling classmates.

Admittedly, this causes more of a fuss than was necessary and Sayu finally has enough. Confronting Miuna outside, she is forced to be the one to tell her that a niece can’t marry her uncle. Sorry guys, it just can’t be done. Although there’s something really intriguing about this love, to the extent that I’m enjoying this a lot more than when Manaka was around.

nagi-no-asukara-ep16-04

More importantly, Sayu lets out some pent up feelings. She is frustrated that only Hikari has returned for Miuna, while her childhood crush Kaname is still missing. The two have an argument while Hikari abandons the plan to buy new uniform and arrives in time to see Miuna run off.

On the way back, Hikari catches up to Miuna and comforts her in his usual carefree way. Just when Miuna has something important to say (confession?), a great big crane collapses around them, throwing Miuna into the ocean. Just when you think she will either drown or Hikari’s hand will come plunging down to grab her, a miracle happens. She develops an ena instantly and can swim just like Hikari.

nagi-no-asukara-ep16-05

How does this happen when only direct residents of the Shioshishio can breathe underwater? We don’t yet know but it was one heck of a powerful moment. Miuna is excited and wants to tell Akari about her new found ability and happily makes up with Sayu who feared the worst and started bawling her eyes out.

Following the trend of every episode ending with an impact, it ends with the return of a familiar male character. Kaname emerges near the tailor shop in the city, suitably nude and ready for action. Sayu’s lost crush, and Chisaki’s admirer, has finally returned. It will be interesting to see what he makes of the new and matured Chisaki, who we didn’t really see much of this episode.

Half Off the Lot: Master Reboot discounted 50% on Steam

Master-Reboot-title

This just in: Steam is having a sale.

Wait, that’s not news… how about this? One of the games on sale is an indie horror title.

Really? That common, huh?

Alright, well how about a Steam sale for an indie horror title set in a tron-esque virtual reality setting which now comes with an art book and soundtrack at 50% off? AHA! Now I’ve got you, and that’s exactly what’s happening with Wales Interactive’s Master Reboot.

The setting of Master Reboot takes place in a virtual reality known as ‘The Soul Cloud’, wherein a copy of your consciousness (or “soul”) is uploaded to a dedicated server where you it can exist for an indefinite amount of time. With this digital immortality, you can while away the hours revisiting your favourite memories of family holidays, childhood innocence, romantic encounters, and desperate chases through graveyards by shadowy spectres. Considering that we get closer and closer to a reality with virtual reality, with technology such as the Oculus Rift, where our hands-on impressions can be found here, sci-fi settings like this become a little less ‘fi’ all the time… although I sincerely hope I won’t be murdered by such monstrosities when I finally make the jump to cyberspace residence.

You can obtain the game on Steam here, and see a trailer for it below. The game has an interesting idea and the prospect of concept art for a game which explores a surreal world of virtual reality horror is most definitely an intriguing incentive to buy the game but I’ll leave it to you, my faithful reader, to decide whether a trip in ‘The Soul Cloud’ is your shindig…
