Captain-Earth-Promotional-Poster-Cropped-01

Sentai Filmworks” – an American anime publisher and distributor – announced yesterday that they have acquired the license to the newest “BONES Studio” anime “Captain Earth“. Revolving around a young man who’s dream has always been to reach the stars like his father (an astronaut) once did, the series follows his journey from “seemingly normal boy” to “savior of the universe” as he discovers he has the ability to pilot a powerful “mech” that may just be the only defense force against the incoming extra terrestrial attacks.

“Captain Earth” reunites a great deal of the crew who worked on another “BONES Studio” series “Star Driver”. The series began its air in Japan (and on “Crunchyroll”) on the 5th of April and is being streamed as part of the Spring anime season alongside series’ like “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders”, “Majine Bone” and “Black Bullet”. “Sentai Filmworks” have mentioned that they plan for a home video release but there has been no word as to when we can see that so stick to the site for any and all news as it is released.

ICEBERG INTERACTIVE HERALDS 4X STRATEGY TITLE ENDLESS LEGEND ON STEAM EARLY ACCESS

Watch the New Trailer and Play Amplitude Studios’ Follow-up to the Award-Winning Endless Space

Haarlem, The Netherlands – April 24, 2014 – Iceberg Interactive and award-winning indie studio Amplitude Studios herald the arrival today of the Alpha build of its gorgeous new 4X fantasy strategy game, Endless Legend, now available on Steam’s Early Access Program. Following 2012’s seminal 4X space-strategy title, Endless Space, Endless Legend is set in the same Endless universe, and offers players the chance to develop a fantasy civilization through seamless turn-based combat on the dying planet of Auriga. Players have the ability to pick one of eight beautifully crafted factions, thrust heroes into tactical battle using a variety of strategic terrain, develop technological and political power, and conquer the planet through diplomatic or military means.

“We have poured our hearts and souls into making Endless Legend,” said Romain De Waulbert, creative director, Amplitude Studios. “And we believe gamers familiar with Endless Space will see we’ve listened to their feedback and will enjoy the totally new seasoned approach we’ve taken.”

“With Endless Legend, Amplitude Studios continues to prove why it is a talented and remarkable studio,” said Erik Schreuder, CEO Iceberg Interactive. “Endless Legend is an enormous game with a distinct art style and incredible replay value, as demonstrated even in the Steam Early Access version.”

Endless Legend is a turn-based 4X fantasy strategy game that takes place on the planet Auriga, a once-beautiful planet destroyed in a massive cataclysm. Players build their nations through tactical, military, and political means on randomly generated, hexagonal worlds of varying altitudes with the ultimate goal of developing the most powerful civilization on the planet. Gamers will encounter long harsh seasons, assimilate smaller factions into the mix to increase their chances in war, fight battles with a variety of powerful heroes, and create a robust economy using Dust (money), food, production, science, and more.

  • Single or Multiplayer: Endless Legend takes place in the Endless Universe and employs new twists on combat, pacing, events, environment and single- and multiplayer gaming for one to eight players.
  • Eight fantastic, unconventional factions – including the Vaulters, Broken Lords, and the Wild Walkers – create a distinct take on the over-used ‘Tolkien-esque stereotypes.’ For the Alpha build, players can select three out of the eight factions and advance through the use of weaponry, technology, and other “Endless” elements, such as the Dust as per Endless Space.
  • Minor Factions: Of the 16 minor factions, 10 are currently available in the Alpha build for players to incorporate into their empire.
  • Research around 100 technologies across four eras through quests and research, while collecting Dust, luxuries, and strategic resources tradable at the marketplace.
  • Eight potential win scenarios for players experience through culture, trade and conquest. Example of a win: One enables your race to discover an ancient spaceship, leave the planet, and become and embryonic version of one of Endless Space’s galactic factions.
  • Endless Legend does away with skill trees with branching paths, instead enabling players to accumulate enough experience to advance to the next age without linear paths to follow.
  • Explore unknown territory by sending heroes into every corner of the world to find mysterious artifacts to equip troops.

The Classic Pack (currently on sale at $26.24) includes:

  • Endless Legend game- Instant access to the Alpha version and all versions including the release.
  • Official Digital Soundtrack (available at release)- All Endless Legend tracks created by FlybyNo in mp3 format.
  • “Endless Legend” Community Badge- Adds a unique badge to your Amplitude account. Adds 500 G2G to the value of your votes on our website.

Wadjet Eye Games’ Long-Running Blackwell Adventure Series Concludes Today with The Blackwell Epiphany

Wadjet Eye Games’ Long-Running Blackwell Adventure Series Concludes Today with The Blackwell Epiphany

PC download available for $14.99; series will debut for iPhone and iPad in June

NEW YORK – April 24, 2014 – Independent developer Wadjet Eye Games is proud to announce that The Blackwell Epiphany is now available as a PC download. This final installment in their flagship Blackwell mystery adventure series sells for $14.99 from Wadjet Eye’s website, Steam, and GOG.

When her aunt Lauren died, Rosa Blackwell inherited a unique family legacy: the companionship of a jazz era ghost named Joey Mallone and a talent for helping the recently-dead cross over to the other side. Through four previous adventures — The Blackwell Legacy, Blackwell Unbound, Blackwell Convergence, and Blackwell Deception — players have seen the toll this work takes on the women of the Blackwell family. So far Rosa has managed to hang on to her soul and her sanity, helping numerous spirits along the way. But that’s about to change in The Blackwell Epiphany when she and Joey go up against a malevolent force that literally tears souls apart. Is their partnership strong enough to withstand this final trial?

The Blackwell games are mystery adventures with point-and-click investigative gameplay and retro-styled pixel art graphics reminiscent of the classic Sierra and LucasArts adventure games. Each installment has a self-contained plot that can be enjoyed independently, with an overarching series storyline following Rosa’s transition from skeptical newbie to seasoned medium. Likewise, The Blackwell Epiphany is designed to stand on its own while providing bittersweet closure for players who have been with Rosa and Joey from the beginning. For those who want to catch up on the adventure before embarking on the finale, the earlier Blackwell games are available individually or in a 4-pack bundle: http://www.wadjeteyegames.com/store/

The Blackwell Epiphany can be purchased from the following online stores:

A demo set at the beginning of this final adventure can be downloaded from: http://www.rosablackwell.com/demo

With the Blackwell finale released for PC, Wadjet Eye will now focus on bringing the series to other platforms, starting with the first three games on iPhone and iPad in June. The studio also plans to release the Blackwell games for Android, Mac, and Linux.

About Habitat

Set in the far future, Habitat: A Thousand Generations in Orbit is a space fan’s playground. Players must lead a team of engineers to gather debris floating in the vast wasteland of human and alien junk orbiting Earth to build and manage their own space stations, including the human residents residing within. But managing resources to maintain a healthy and happy extra-Earthly economy is only a part of Habitat, as players must also find ways to fend off enemies. To aid in this, Habitat introduces a new kind of combat using space debris as kinetic weaponry, which takes advantage of zero-gravity space conditions to defend habitats against enemies. Habitats can be destroyed in a matter of seconds, triggering massive chain reactions, so players must make some tough decisions to survive.

MAJORITY OF PARENTS SAY VIDEO GAMES ARE A POSITIVE PART OF KIDS’ LIVES
New Study Finds More Than 50 Percent of American Homes Own a Game Console

April 24, 2014 – Washington, DC – A majority of parents say playing video games benefits their children, according to new research released today by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA). The report, 2014 Essential Facts About the Computer and Video Game Industry, reveals that 56 percent of parents say video games are a positive part of their child’s life.

Other key findings include that 68 percent of families with children under 18 at home believe game play provides mental stimulation or education, and more than 50 percent believe games help them spend time together. Moreover, 58 percent of parents whose children are gamers play games with their kids at least monthly, and among parents who play with their kids, 88 percent believe video games are fun for the entire family.

“Parents across America recognize the widespread benefits of video games, including education, mental stimulation, and the bonding opportunities they create for families,” said Michael D. Additionally, 88 percent of parents whose children play games believe the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) video game ratings are either very or somewhat helpful in choosing games for their children.

“Our industry has an unparalleled commitment to helping parents make informed entertainment choices, and these findings underscore the value of the ESRB rating system,” Gallagher said.

The 2014 Essential Facts also provides statistics on gamer demographics; the types of games played and the kinds of game platforms used; the top-selling video games; and other industry sales information. Notable findings include:
