Game on as Foxtel Play comes to Xbox One
Are you enjoying watching streaming videos through Netflix on Xbox One? What if you could have Netflix and Foxtel in the same place at the same time? Well now you can, because Foxtel have bought their hit Foxtel Play app (which was hugely successful on the Xbox 360) to their all-in-one gaming and media system. You can download the app and sign up to the service which will give you access to a tonne of great TV channels.
Also, is it a coincidence that Foxtel Play makes its way to Xbox One the week before Game of Thrones series 5 is set to air? Probably, but its convenient right!

Xbox One April System Update: Game Hub Links and More Now Available
To round off this week’s Newsbeat, we have a brief rundown on the latest system update for Xbox One. Here are the new features your console will have:
Party chat improvements – Over the past few months, Microsoft have added additional icons and notifications within the party chat experience to help players understand their connection and microphone status. This month, party chat is being improved with troubleshooting guidance for Xbox One owners. The party app will help you get your microphone enabled and show you when privacy settings or networking issues are blocking communication with particular party members.
Game hub links – In February, Xbox introduced game hubs where you can be the first to get news on upcoming updates, featured game clips, behind the scenes content and more. With this update, you can more easily discover game hub content from activity feed items. You’ll see activity feed items when any of your friends follow a game, and you’ll also be able to get back to a game’s hub from activity feed posts related to the game – including feed items about the game’s achievements, game clips and screenshots. Finally, Xbox has added a link to game hubs from the game’s page in the achievements app.
Achievement notifications – Achievement notifications now display the achievement name and the gamerscore you just earned. With this update, you’ll also see the achievement’s description in the notification so you know what you did to earn this achievement without having to open the achievements app. Based on feedback from preview program members, Microsoft increased the time that an achievement notification is displayed also made some performance improvements to make loading the achievements app from a notification faster.
Another short but oh so sweet installment of Xbox Newsbeat. As always I hope it was as good for you as it was for me! Make sure you guys all check back next week for all the sweet Microsoft news as it becomes available.
When Team Dakota and Microsoft announced they would be bringing Conker back in the Conker’s Big Reunion DLC pack for Project Spark, it got many excited to once again play everyone’s favorite sex-crazed, cigar-smoking, alcoholic squirrel once again. After all, we haven’t seen him since 2005’s Conker: Live & Reloaded on the original Xbox.
We still have a couple weeks before we’ll get to jump into the pseudo-sequel to Conker’s Bad Fur Day, but that doesn’t mean Team Dakota can’t whet our appetites a bit while we wait. The developer took to their Twitch channel last night for a quick stream to show off some work done by the Lead Environment Artist on Conker’s Big Reunion, Matt Lucas. In 48 hours, Lucas recreated the first few minutes of Conker’s Bad Fur Day in Project Spark. He plays through it in the video below:
That is Conker’s Bad Fur Day in glorious high-definition. The attention to detail taken by the developers here is staggering. My main concern when this was announced was whether the game will play like a Conker title or pale in comparison. We won’t truly know until we play it, but considering it was designed all within Project Spark and in just two days, this is a great showcase of what can be done in Spark. Heck, if this all goes well, maybe we will see Rare get a chance to make a true sequel to the game.
The first episode of Conker’s Bad Reunion will be released in Project Spark on Xbox One and Windows 8 PC on April 23 for $4.99 US.
Until then, you can just keep re-watching the new trailer after the jump.
Despite some of us feeling the need to collect and display Blu-ray and video game display boxes on shelves, physical media’s days are numbered. With Netflix now streaming films and television shows in 4K, standalone on-demand services like Amazon Instant Video, iTunes, and Vudu, as well as video-on- demand services included with most cable/satellite subscriptions, Blu-ray and DVD sales continue to decline. And, just in case you thought the best examples of the format would be immune, Al Jean of The Simpsons has some news for you.
The Simpsons‘ executive producer/showrunner took to Twitter to let us know that everything is not coming up Milhouse:
.@thesimpsons#EverySimpsonsEver I personally am v sorry to see DVDs discontinued We did them purely for the love of hearing ourselves talk
Yes, 20th Century Fox has ceased production on all DVD and Blu-ray releases of The Simpsons. For those unaware of just how exemplary The Simpsons was handled on DVD and Blu-ray, each and every disc was loaded with special features and every episode had commentary from writers, producers, and cast members. The Simpsons die-hards have been collecting each set since they began production in 2001, with the last set — Season 17 — released last December.
But what about commentaries for digital releases? Al Jean has not written the idea off and even sees a master physical release in the series’ future, tweeting to a concerned fan that they “will do commentaries for all downloads and possibly a master DVD when (if) show ever goes off air.” It should also be noted that Jean continued to respond and thank fans on Twitter following his announcement.
With digital releases, the Simpsons Worldwebsite (still available only in the US with a paid cable subscription), and the FX Now app (same availability), The Simpsons will still have a place in any fan’s entertainment unit. Not to mention that US fans with cable can watch reruns on television on FXX. Sure, it will be different. But hey, we still have each other…
There are a few guarantees in life: death, taxes, and a new Call of Dutygame every year. It is Treyarch’s turn at bat this year. They have opted to continue the Black Ops story arc.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III was announced with a teaser trailer that makes references to some of the plot points in Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The trailer caps off with the question “how far are we willing to go?”
The game will get it’s full world reveal on April 26, 2015. It is safe to assume that the game will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows during the 2015 holiday season, but time will tell if this will be the first next-gen exclusive Call of Duty title.
Spiders, the developers behind Mars War Logsand Bound By Flame joined Focus Home Interactive today in announcing their next project, The Technomancer.
The RPG takes place in the same universe as Mars War Logs. The player takes on the role of a Technomancer, the cybernetic warrior-mages encountered in the first game. The hero is on the run from the Secret Police during the War of Water. The story features five different endings based on the player’s choices. Many disagreements in the game can be solved peacefully with the dialogue system.
Technomancers have access to a wide variety of cybernetic abilities that are infused with electricity based powers. There will be three combat styles, a full crafting system, and a cast of companions that will support The Technomancer in battle.
The Technomancer is scheduled to launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2016.

Today, the developer has released an extensive gameplay trailer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, showcasing the game’s open world environment, many monster classes, how your choices affect the world around you as well as some Geralt sexy-time and a slew of characters cursing like sailors. According to a new report posted by Webush, Michael Pachter — one of the games industry’s leading analysts — predicts that EA will release both Mirror’s Edge 2 and Mass Effect 4 by the end of March 2016.
According to VideoGamer, Pachter and his analytic team predict that EA’s 2016 fiscal year will see the release of four titles from four major franchises: a new Need for Speed, Star Wars: Battlefront, Mirror’s Edge 2, and Mass Effect 4. We already know that the next Need for Speed and Star Wars: Battlefront are slated to be released before the end of 2015, but no dates have been given for the Mirror’s Edge or Mass Effect sequels. The 2016 fiscal year runs from April 2015 through March 2016.
“FY:16 is expected to feature incremental releases Mass Effect 4, Mirror’s Edge 2, a new Need For Speed game, and Star Wars: Battlefront, as well as meaningful re-orders for Battlefield Hardline, which launched in late Q4:15.”
We have not heard anything about the upcoming Mirror’s Edge sequel since E3 2014, when they just let us know that they were still working on it since their announcement a year prior at E3 2013. As for Mass Effect 4, we have not seen or heard anything other than tweets from BioWare employees. But with E3 in June and San Diego Comic-Con in July, there are plenty of chances for EA to tease us a bit before the fiscal year end.
