Discotek Gives an Update on their ‘Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust’ and ‘IGPX’ Releases

Discotek Media has been giving updates on some of their upcoming releases over the last few days. They also posted trailers for Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust and IGPX, which can be found here.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust will be released in early September on DVD and Blu-ray. Discotek’s release will only include English audio, as the licensor will not allow the Japanese audio to be released outside of Japan.

Toonami will be altering their version of IGPX to conform to the 16:9 aspect ratio. This version will be included in Discotek’s upcoming release. Discotek’s release will also include the uncut version, and all-new extras are being produced for it.

Additionally, Discotek uploaded a work-in-progress preview of the cover art for their release of The Little Mermaid, which is featured below.

Rodea: The Sky Soldier’s Story and Characters Detailed

rodea-the-sky-soldier-screenshots- (1)

Today NIS America released a few screenshots and some character artwork for Rodea: The Sky Soldier and with these images came a bunch of new information about the title’s storyline and key characters.

Currently slated for release on the Wii U and 3DS in North America on September 22nd and in Europe on September 25th, Rodea: The Sky Soldier exists in a world where there were once two countries, Naga, the terrestrial machine empire, and Garuda, a floating kingdom in the sky. Before long, the Naga Empire started a war with Garuda in an effort to obtain the country’s crystallized Graviton energy and it is here where the story begins.

A full rundown of the story and character details from NIS America can be found below:

Princess Cecilia, the daughter of Emperor Geardo, ruler of Naga, attempts to flee to Garuda alongside her robot bodyguard, Rodea. Trapped by her pursuers, she entrusts Rodea with half of the Key of Time—an artifact that is integral to the success of Naga’s invasion. Using the remaining half of the Key’s power, she teleports Rodea to Garuda, depriving Naga of the intact Key of Time, thereby preventing the earthbound aggressor from successfully carrying out its invasion.

Since then 1,000 years have passed, and Garuda’s citizens regard Naga’s failed invasion, as well as the Naga Empire itself, as little more than a historical footnote in the pages of history. At a small village in Garuda, a young woman named Ion lives a peaceful life with her grandfather, where she spends her days tinkering with machines and inventing all sorts of odd gadgets. One day, Ion is surveying an ancient ruin when she discovers a deactivated, broken robot—Rodea. Though Ion repairs the damage to Rodea’s body, the damage to Rodea’s memories is too extensive. He remembers next to nothing about his past, save for his mission to save Garuda, and the face of a young woman who bears a striking resemblance to Ion.

As for the characters the company has described them as thus:

  • Rodea A humanoid robot with flight capabilities. He attempted to flee to Garuda alongside Princess Cecilia, but failed. After Princess Cecilia teleports him to safety, he suddenly finds himself waking up 1,000 years in the future thanks to Ion, who recovered his body and repaired him back to full functionality. With this new ally by his side, Rodea takes to the sky to defend Garuda against the Naga Empire once again.
  • Ion An enthusiastic young woman who enjoys tinkering with machinery. Her physical appearance is nearly identical to Rodea’s memory of Princess Cecilia. She finds Rodea, broken and deactivated, in an ancient ruin and restores him to working condition. With Rodea, she embarks on an adventure to stop the Naga Empire’s invasion.
  • Princess Cecilia The pure-hearted princess of the Naga Empire. She fled Naga with Rodea in an attempt to stop her father, Emperor Geardo, from invading Garuda. When that plan fails, she teleports Rodea to safety and is never seen again.
  • Emperor Geardo Geardo was once a kind father who showered his beloved daughter, Cecilia, with love and affection. It was for her sake and the sake of his empire that he spearheaded Naga’s development into a mechanized civilization. To this end, he has replaced the majority of his physical body with the most powerful technology his empire can produce, further cementing his status as an immeasurably legendary ruler.

LEGO Worlds Released in Early Access

lego-worlds-screen-shot-07

Out of nowhere, Traveller’s Tales Games and Warner Bros Interactive have released LEGO Worlds on Steam Early Access. The title is a procedurally generated game, allowing players to have endless worlds to explore. The first look at the title shows that LEGO has created a title with amazing depth.

lego-worlds-screen-shot-05

Much like Minecraft, there are endless biomes to explore, and minerals to explore and use. The building system is a bit more akin to the Creative mode, as players have access to endless bricks and colors from the first load, as well as landscape altering tools. However, while LEGO Worlds  seems to lack a crafting system, players can unlock various sets which they can place anywhere at any time.

LEGO Worlds seems to have come out of the blue to launch on Early Access. In fact, it wasn’t even on the list for the planned LEGO titles in 2015. The title has a remarkable amount of polish, and regular content updates have been planned to introduce more and more sets into the game. Additional planned features can be seen listed below.

  • Like/Dislike system for tailoring World Generation
  • Procedurally Generated Underground Cave Networks
  • LEGO ID integration to allow for sharing and uploading of in-game builds
  • Additional Biomes
  • Painting Themes
  • Pre-Generated Towns/Villages/Settlements relevant to the Biome
  • Updated AI Behaviors to provide organic feeling to free-roaming creatures and characters
  • Red Brick Extras
  • Full liquid behaviors
  • Additional Minifigure Characters and Creatures
  • Additional Vehicles and Pre-Built Models
  • Additional Weapons
  • Cut/Copy/Paste chunks of landscape
  • Underwater Gameplay (including Vehicles, Creatures and additional sea life)
  • Character Customizer
  • Online Multiplayer

It’s pretty clear that this title is taking it’s shot at PC gamers, as Minecraft has often been called a LEGO-like video game. The initial release can be had on Steam Early Access for $14.99 (USD). It’s interesting to see Warner Bros Interactive & Traveller’s Tales releasing this on Early Access first, and hopefully LEGO Worlds proves to fully bring the creative world of LEGO to digital platforms. Check out a trailer and the full gallery of screenshots below.

New trailer for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s Exo Zombies Carrier Emerges

call-of-duty-advanced-warfare-supremacy-03

Say that five times fast. We were already excited to find out that the new Supremacy DLC featuring Exo Zombies Carrier would be landing this week, but now Activision have decided to make a small wait even harder with some new footage featuring the likes of Bruce Campbell, Rose McGowan, John Malkovich, Bill Paxton, and Jon Bernthal.

The clip pretty much runs over the plot for the lastest addition to Call of Duty, with a tale of betrayal and survival. It honestly looks pretty great altogether, and I must say that Sledgehammer nailed the faces for the actors perfectly. Check out the trailer down below and you can pick up this DLC for your Xbox console as of tomorrow (with other platforms following suit soon).

Windows 10 to Launch Worldwide on July 29

windows-10-promo-shot-001

Gamers, the long awaited DirectX 12 is coming. Windows 10 is launching around the world on July 29, 2015. Microsoft’s new OS represents a huge change in the company’s direction. It is bringing devices of all size running on one operating system, from the smallest smartphone to monster gaming PCs. To the glee of many longtime Windows users, the old school start menu is making its return.

For gamers, Windows 10 has a lot of exciting potential. DirectX 12 is bringing low level APIs to all gamers, no matter if you run an AMD, Nvidia, or Intel GPU. If low level APIs sound familiar to you, it’s the same type of APIs AMD introduced with Mantle, in hopes of making PCs run more efficiently, like consoles.

windows-10-xbox-screenshot-01

Speaking of consoles, Windows 10 is introducing better connectivity with Xbox One. Xbox One owners will now be able to stream their games to their PC or tablet. Xbox Live is making its return to Windows, bringing with it all the social features and Game DVR to Windows 10.

Good news for owners of Windows 7 and 8. Microsoft is dead set on getting the entire world onto Windows 10 as soon as possible, so your upgrade is free for the life of your device. The upgrade will roll out on PCs and tablets first, with other devices following later in 2015. Read more about the upgrade program here.
