disney-infinity-3.0-screenshot-01

There has been an awakening… A Disney Infinity Awakening! While Disney Infinity 3.0 is already filled to the brim with kick ass Lightsabers, Jedi, Sith and Star Destroyers, fans everywhere are eagerly looking ahead to the future – to the next installment in the epic Star Wars saga and the next Disney Infinity Play Set.

While details are scarce at this point so as to not spoil Disney’s upcoming film, we can share with you the fact that there will be four playable characters in the Play Set (check out the gallery below to see the figures themselves) and much like the Rise Against the Empire Play Set, will feature key moments from the film for you to replay over and over again.

The Play Set will be available here on December 19th (so just enough time for you to see the film before picking up the Play Set) and will come included with the Finn and Rey figures, with Kylo Ren and Poe Dameron figures available separately.

Monsters Showcased One Day Ahead of Dragon Quest Heroes Release

dragon-quest-heroes-screenshot-(20)

I am pretty excited. Well, that is putting it lightly, to be honest. We are just one day away from the western release of Dragon Quest Heroes, or as some of you know it as Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below, and Square are still running some neat promotion.

The best part about the DQ experience is of course the array of monsters, and an infographic has graced us taking us back and moving us forward with all of our favorites in one lovely strip. Its a pretty nice little advert, and you can pick up the game tomorrow for the Playstation 4.

OVERLORD™: FELLOWSHIP OF EVIL PUBLIC INFORMATION FILM TEACHES NETHERGHŪLS THE INTRICACIES OF BEING EVIL

OVERLORD™: FELLOWSHIP OF EVIL PUBLIC INFORMATION FILM TEACHES NETHERGHŪLS THE INTRICACIES OF BEING EVIL

UK – October 12, 2015 – The devious development minions at Codemasters today unearthed the latest video for Overlord: Fellowship of Evil, their digital only, angelically-priced, devilishly fun Action RPG which is coming to PlayStation® 4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One and Windows PC on October 20. Fans of evil doings can watch the trailer in action now at www.overlordthegame.com.

As the video discusses, while looking suitably terrifying is important to up-and-coming Netherghūls, being truly evil isn’t just about having the biggest sword, or the pointiest shoulder pads. To be truly nefarious, one must consider the killing, the pillaging and many other important aspects, including the “ever popular evisceration and immolation of your colleagues”.

“The Netherghūls in Overlord: Fellowship of Evil are a real bunch of ne’er-do-wells, as you’d expect from an Overlord game,” said Carl Johnson, Chief Design Minion, Codemasters. “They’re as likely to stab each other in the back as they are to work together.”

“Evil is about more than just looks, it’s a way of life,” said Gnarl, Evil Minion Master. “There’s the carnage! And the looting! And the running-away-very-fast-avoiding-horrific-death.”

Overlord: Fellowship of Evil will be available on October 20. Gamers who pre-order the game on the Steam store can grab themselves some exclusive Team Fortress 2 hats for their minions plus ‘Da Big Book of Art’ Digital Artbook and from today Xbox One owners can pre-order the game on the Xbox digital store with a 10% discount.

Overlord: Fellowship of Evil is a dark and twisted Action RPG filled with the series’ signature black humor. Penned by award-winning original Overlord scriptwriter Rhianna Pratchett, Overlord: Fellowship of Evil delivers an epic new quest featuring four Netherghūls – undead servants of the dark arts, resurrected in the absence of a true Overlord, to bring evil back to a world overrun by the forces of good.

Assisting gamers once again are the mighty, maniacal and occasionally moronic minions, ready to unleash their charmingly chaotic brand of destruction and led by Gnarl, their wise old master, voiced, as before, by actor Marc Silk.

Players will embark on a brand new Overlord adventure filled with fun combat and twisted fantasy tales in single-player or with up to three friends in local and online single-screen co-op. Overlord: Fellowship of Evil invites players to dive into an Action RPG where it’s good to be bad, but it’s GREAT to be evil.

Overlord: Fellowship of Evil invades digital stores on consoles and Steam for Windows PC on October 20. Follow the Codemasters minions’ progress towards world domination on the Codemasters Blog and on social media on Twitter and Facebook.

Gazillion Reveals What’s in Store for Marvel Heroes 2016

Gazillion Reveals What’s in Store for Marvel Heroes 2016

‘Secret Invasion’ Story Adaptation, Controller Support, Visual Updates and Leaderboards Only Begin to Describe the Wealth of New Features and Content Beginning This December

NEW YORK, NY — October 12, 2015 — Yesterday Gazillion treated a room full of gamers at New York Comic Con to a sneak preview, and today it’s official: Marvel Heroes 2015 – the super-powered free-to-play action-RPG for PC and Mac – will level up to Marvel Heroes 2016 this December. Whereas the rebrand to Marvel Heroes 2015 focused on turning things around (the game’s Metacritic rating skyrocketed from 58 to 81 after a number of key adjustments to content and pricing model), Marvel Heroes 2016 represents an initiative to continue this momentum with releases of new tent-pole additions on a regular basis.

Full details will be provided in the weeks to come – they’re far too many for one mere press release to handle – but highlights of some of the most notable features to be released include the following, beginning this December and throughout 2016:

  • “Secret Invasion” Story Chapter: Battle alien Skrulls of all shapes and sizes, including the Super-Skrull himself, Kl’rt, who makes his long-awaited, much requested Marvel Heroes debut.
  • Controller Support: One of the community’s most requested features.
  • Visual Updates (pictured): Revamped looks for characters introduced during Marvel Heroes’ 2013 launch window.
  • Leaderboards: Something new and interesting to do every night. Tournaments and Seasons will grow out of this eventually.
  • Steam Achievements: Players loved the new in-game achievements added to Marvel Heroes 2015 – now, the feature extends to Steam with nearly 100 of them.
  • Mac Out of Beta: The Mac version has been in beta for over a year now. Not anymore.
  • “All-New All-Different” Material: Keeping things current with what is happening in the greater Marvel landscape to a greater degree than ever, such as the current “All-New All-Different” comics, while still also continuing to honor over 75 years of comic history.

Meanwhile, other exciting material is planned for the months to follow the December launch:

  • Savage Land Patrol Zone: A never-ending gauntlet of dinosaurs, sadistic mutates and more!
  • Thanos Raid: The Mad Titan makes his Marvel Heroes debut.
  • More! Stay tuned for further announcements.

In addition to this abundance of new content, players can expect the continuous flow of new playable characters (now numbering more than 50!), team-up heroes, pets and more to proceed as they’ve grown accustomed to over the past two years.

“I truly believe our game is better than ever now, and the rebrand to Marvel Heroes 2016 represents our never-ending initiative to continue improving for the next year and beyond,” says Gazillion CEO David Brevik, best known as the creator of the Diablo franchise. “As game developers, we’re privileged with the great power to create an action-RPG set in the Marvel Universe; with that comes our inherent responsibility to Marvel’s millions of fans to deliver an excellent product that only gets better with the more we add to it.”

Overview

The comedy and action hit that gives a new meaning to the word ‘Spy’, is now available to watch on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital HD. Director Paul Feig (The Heat and Bridesmaids), brings back fan-favourite Melissa McCarthy as the lead role in Spy, with an exceptional line-up of supporting actors; Jason Statham, Rose Byrne and Jude Law. The 2-hour movie promises nothing but outrageous entertainment, as Feig wanted to deliver something that is both ridiculous and amazing. So what makes this espionage film different from the likes of Bond or Mission Impossible? Did the director go overboard with the genre mash-up, or find a medium to appeal to action and comedy fans? Read on to decide for yourself.

Spy-Review-Screenshot-02

Story

Susan Cooper (Melissa McCarthy) is introduced as the desk-bound CIA Analyst, an insignificant resource located in the vermin-infested basement of the agency. For the past decade, Cooper has put aside her potential in the field to better support her partner, Bradley Fine (Jude Law). The noticeable difference between the two agents is their self-image and working attitude. Fine is the self-absorbed spy, whose superiority and charm cannot be matched, and does not care who he steps on to be the finest agent of them all. On the other hand, Cooper is the reserved genius behind the Agent Fine’s successful missions, who has allowed her feelings for him to affect her professional relationship and undermine her ability as a CIA agent.

In the opening sequence, Fine is on a mission to track down the whereabouts of a nuclear bomb, with the help of his trusting partner via earpiece. When confronted by Tihomir Boyanov, the agent discovers that he is the only person who knows the location of the nuke. Before he can appropriately react, Fine blows up his only opportunity to question the man, after sneezing and simultaneously shooting him. Due to the mishap, Agent Fine is forced to go deeper undercover to seek information about the device. Against the advice of Agent Cooper, Fine infiltrates the premises of Boyanov’s daughter, Rayna (Rose Byrne) in the hope she will lead him to the nuke. Instead, the arms dealer leads him into a deadly trap, eliminating Cooper’s partner and admitting that she knows the names of the other ones and can have them killed if she is not left alone.

Spy-Review-Screenshot-03

Following the untimely death of her partner and favourite agent, Cooper finds solace from her colleague, Nancy B. Artingstall. The pair find comfort in sharing their negative life reinforcements from early childhood over drinks, and imagining how different their lives would be as field agents in the spy world. At this point in the film, the audience become more invested in the protagonist – who does not want to play it safe anymore and is adamant on hunting down Rayna. Agent Cooper uses the video recording of Fines last mission, to dig for clues she may have missed in her first viewing, and finds a number that leads the CIA to Sergio De Luca (Bobby Cannavale), who works as an intermediary with terrorist groups. Due to the nature of the assignment and importance of avoiding detection, no trained agent can go in the field. In honor of her partner, Cooper volunteers herself to be the one to track and report De Luca, as a means of finding Rayna and securing the nuclear weapon.

All out of options, the boss Elaine Crocker (Allison Janney), reluctantly agrees to the analyst-turned spy arrangement for Cooper, but in the process makes an enemy of her own, Rick Ford (Jason Statham). The egotistical agent refuses to accept that an untrained agent can do a better job than him, so he quits the CIA and goes rogue. Ford’s unnecessary involvement compromises Cooper’s undercover assignment, forcing her to take on more than one new identity (even if it’s improvised). What starts out as a simple mission transforms quickly into a chaotic fire blazing and motor racing killing field, where the stakes of survival and preventing nuclear disaster rely solely in the hands of the CIA Analyst.

Does Agent Cooper have what it takes to avenge the man, who never gave her a chance in the field?

Spy-Review-Screenshot-04

Visuals & Audio

Cinematographer, Robert D. Yeoman does a fantastic job in establishing the mysterious and alluring atmosphere in Spy, with a visually stunning palette of locations (Rome, Paris and Budapest) featured in the film. The creative action sequences, particularly involving Jude Law and Melissa McCarthy were very well put together, and the stunts were equally believable, as they were enticing. The great costumes and make-overs are fantastic in Spy, especially Agent Cooper’s cover identity of Penny Morgan – a cat fanatic vacationing in Italy, and wearing a customised cat t-shirt. Composer, Theodore Shapiro brings an ominous vibe to his original score for Spy, which is very different to the upbeat and fast-paced soundtracks in the film. Surprisingly, Curtis ‘50 Cent‘ Jackson made an appearance in Spy, as did his song, ‘Twisted’ (feat. Mr. Probz).

Extras

With the Blu-ray version of Spy, viewers can take a look inside the making of the film and the directors’ insight into the creative collaboration process. Feig describes his experience on set and involvement with the cast members – vice versa, noting that Spy is more of a serious movie with situational comedy. In addition, viewers can sit back and enjoy multiple gag reels from the movie, behind each of the stunt fighting scenes and why Jason Statham was the best pick for rival spy, Rick Ford. Other extras that come with Blu-ray include: Speaking is an art form and Super villains of the animal world.

Spy-Review-Screenshot-05

Overall

As a whole, Spy is an entertaining film that challenges the boundaries of mixing genres on screen, and does so with style. The comedy and action hit is the perfect combination of funny, empowering and ridiculously good. What takes the film to the next level is the awesome cast and their ability to work so well in their new roles, particularly Jason Statham and Melissa McCarthy. The hilarious Spy movie is worth watching, and the Blu-ray version has all the juicy content that fans will love.
