Human: Fall Flat Enters Into Profit Over Opening Week as Curve Digital and No Brakes Games Reveal Future for the Series

Developer Tomas Sakalauskas Discusses What’s Next for Bob Alongside a New Video Showcasing Other Ways to Enjoy the Wacky, Physics-Based Puzzler for PC, Mac and Linux

LONDON – July 29, 2016 – Established indie publisher Curve Digital and developer No Brakes Games today announced that their quirky, physics-based puzzle game Human: Fall Flat has enjoyed a spectacular debut on digital stores, already covering its costs since its official launch last Friday. And with a “Very Positive” reception from the game’s Steam players as well as console versions planned to drop later this year, the future looks bright for the gelatinous protagonist Bob and his weird, open-ended dreamscapes.

To encourage those who have yet to experiment with the game and its open-ended puzzles, Human: Fall Flat creator Tomas Sakalauskas has recorded some expert footage that illustrates examples of different ways that players can maneuver through the game’s environments:

After reflecting on the successful launch of Human: Fall Flat, Tomas sets his sights on the road ahead and reveals more on what’s to come:

“I’ve been absolutely blown away by the reaction to Human: Fall Flat’s release. It’s been a long journey from initial prototype to full game – and I was hoping to take a few days off, to be honest, but I’ve been digesting the feedback and I’m excited to confirm the following.

“First off, we’ll be tweaking a few things here and there – it’s clear from player feedback that some areas need a little refining. Now we’ve got the games into the hands of thousands of players, it’s clear that the numerous ways to solve the puzzles can present problems. Additionally, the co-op mode could be sign-posted better, so we’ll be addressing these issues first.

“Next up will be adding in some extra features – one which we can confirm today will be greater freedom over the camera movement so players can create even more dynamic footage of Bob and his escapades. I’ll also be looking into how users can create their own dreamscapes – once I’ve got a better idea, I’ll be sure to let the community know.

“Work on the console versions has begun in earnest and I can confirm that these will feature additional dreamscapes, which we will, of course, offer as a free update to the PC version in due course. I’ve been experimenting with additional gameplay mechanics and I think players are going to love what they see.

“Finally, whilst I always had huge faith in the game, the reaction from its players has given me even more confidence in the series. You guys are going to be seeing a lot more of Bob in the future.”

Developed by No Brakes Games and published by Curve Digital, Human: Fall Flat is now available for Windows PC, Mac and Linux via Steam at http://store.steampowered.com/app/477160/ for $14.99 / €14.99 / £11.99. Console versions are currently in development and are planned to become available later in the year.

Free DLC Primitive+ Official Mod Launches; v245 Updates Including Two Dinosaurs, Fishing Rod and Mechanic, and The Center Expansion Delivers New Islands, Biomes, Caves and Creature Spawns

Seattle, WA – July 28, 2016 – Studio Wildcard is truly ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ today after releasing a content-rich package (v245) offering ARK: Survival Evolved players a mega update to fantasy map The Center while fully launching Primitive+, the second player-created mod to be made an official part of the ARK game. Studio Wildcard also has brought to life two new creatures, Pelagornis and Allosaurus, and has materialized a new fishing rod and fishing mechanic, along with a flurry of additional gameplay features. All content is available starting today as a free download on Steam PC.

Haven’t yet experienced the definitive online dinosaur survival game? From Thursday, July 28, through Sunday, July 31, 2016, ARK: Survival Evolved is hosting a Free Weekend on Steam where all players can start to tame, train, breed and ride Dinosaurs in this open-world action-adventure survival game. ARK: Survival Evolved also is on sale for Steam players at 50% off (retail $29.99) from Thursday, July 28, through Wednesday, August 3, 2016.

Free ARK DLC

Newly available as part of the ‘ARK Official Mods Program’ today, Primitive+ is a functionality mod playable on all official ARK maps that challenges players to use only weapons and tools using wood and stone, without the benefit of advanced metals to create weapons such as guns. It’s a whole new set of items and detailed mechanics focused on ‘primitive’ survival, which fits snugly in the world of ARK.

The Center, a massive free DLC map that was first released in May 2016, expanded today to include new biomes, islands, caves, and creature spawns. The Center was created by modder Ben Burkart as part of the ‘ARK Official Mods Program’ and complements the current biomes with a rich, hand-drawn Tolkien-esque aesthetic. The Center’s massive map doubles the in-game playable geography of the already enormous ARK landscape making it 70 sq. kilometers filled with stunning lighting effects, lava rivers, giant picturesque mountains, misty floating islands, ancient underground ice caves, and more.

ARK v245 New Creatures
Pelagornis (Species Pelagornis miocaenus): This creature is instantly recognizable from the more common Icthyornis by its size. With a wingspan rivaling Argentavis, it also possesses a beak filled with tooth-like projections for snagging fish and webbed feet for paddling upon the ocean surface. Because of its ability to fly, walk, and surface-swim, a tamed Pelagornis is one of the island’s most versatile mounts, though this comes at a cost. The same webbed feet that allow Pelagornis to serenely maneuver along the ocean’s surface prevent it from snatching prey from the ground, which may limit its appeal to some survivors.

Allosaurus (Species Allosaurus therotribus): Smaller but faster than Tyrannosaurus, larger but slower than Carnotaurus, Allosaurus is the island’s resident pack-hunting theropod. While most aggressive theropods are relatively solitary creatures, Allosaurus lives in groups of three. One Allosaurus is the Pack Leader, while the others are its mates or a beta male. The Allosaurus has evolved to hunt in packs. Its saw-shaped teeth leave its prey bleeding and maimed, making escape difficult. Once an Allosaurus slows a creature with its cutting bite, the rest of its pack quickly close in for the kill…

Additional Update v245 Content Includes:

  • New Item: Fishing Rod + Fishing Mechanic! Be a pro fisherman as you apply varied bait, cast the line, wait for a fish to become ensnared, and then succeed at a mini-game to reel the fish and claim copious rewards!
  • New Structure: Industrial Grinder that grinds items into a portion of their crafting resources, then converts resources into simpler resources
  • New Structure: Spiral Staircase (Stone/Wood/Metal)
  • New Mechanic: Optional Hitmarkers for ranged attacks (server can toggle them, as well as client if the server allows it)
  • Building Attack/Destruction TribeLogs

Yooka-Laylee-Toybox-Screenshot-05

For those who backed a tier of £20 or more for Playtonic Games Yooka-Laylee Kickstarter, you can now access the promised toybox feature which allows you to roam around in a virtual reality sandbox. Those who backed a tier of £35 or more will have access to the toybox+ which features an attack combo, some extra areas and some basic enemies to fight.

Yooka-Laylee-Toybox-Screenshot-03

I’ve played through the normal toybox I had access to myself collecting all the 100 quills and I got to say it was a fun time. Even for a short demo such as this Playtonic snuck in a good amount of puzzles and challenges to finding the quills which was a nice mini objective. Yooka and Laylee control brilliantly and the music was a true call back to that Banjo-Kazooie style im sure old fans will love. We also get a glimpse of the snarky humour one can expect from this game from a cute NPC robot.

Yooka-Laylee-Toybox-Screenshot-01

If this pre-alpha build is anything to go by then Yooka-Laylee is set to land a place alongside it’s famous twin predecessors in platforming history. After an announced delay, Yooka-Laylee is set to arrive on PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PC, Linux and Mac in Q1 2017. If you believe you backed the correct tier and should be able to play the toybox for yourself then head on over to Yooka-Laylee Toybox FAQ to see how to claim and redeem your code. Toybox codes are only being made available through Steam.
