The series will also be available for purchase on a special ‘Season Pass Disc’ for consoles, which will include the premiere episode for the third season, as well as access to all subsequent episodes in the five episode season for download as they become available.

“This third new season will serve as both a continuation of what’s come before in our story, as well as an all-new beginning set nearly four years after the outbreak events of Season One,”  said Kevin Bruner, Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games.  “As a harrowing and horrific drama, ‘A New Frontier’ will explore beyond what it means to survive in a world ravaged by the undead, and will see our characters confronting the new rules of order and justice in a land being brutally reclaimed and rediscovered by what’s left of humanity itself.”

Players will take control of series newcomer Javier, a man struggling to keep his family together in the new world, while also playing as Clementine, now a teenage survivor holding secrets of her past while fighting to protect family of her own.

“When we began this series, we explored what it meant to protect a character like Clementine at all costs,” said Kevin Boyle, Executive Producer on the series. “Years later, meeting her for the first time, Javier will begin to unravel the mystery of who Clementine has become, as her story intersects with his – both of them still driven by the things they value most long after society’s collapse.”

THE GREATEST ADVENTURE EVER PLAYED IN 90 SECONDS A DAY IS NOW AVAILABLE ON STEAM EARLY ACCESS

THE GREATEST ADVENTURE EVER PLAYED IN 90 SECONDS A DAY IS NOW AVAILABLE ON STEAM EARLY ACCESS

Miniature RPG experience, RuneScape: Idle Adventures, the new game from AdVenture Capitalist’s Hyper Hippo, arrives on Steam Early Access for PC.

Friday, 2nd September 2016 [9am UK], Cambridge, UK – Presenting a miniature RPG experience like no other, Jagex (RuneScape) and Hyper Hippo (AdVenture Capitalist) today announced that RuneScape: Idle Adventures is now available on Steam Early Access.

Delivering the greatest story ever played in 90 seconds a day – in fact, why not complete a quest while watching the Early Access trailer – Idle Adventures is an extremely time-friendly RPG for all, whether they’re idle or adventurous gamers. As the first ‘idle’ game to deliver a tremendous sense of adventure, it thrusts players into an epic narrative with just a minute or two’s play.

Developed with Hyper Hippo’s trademark charm, players create and take on the role of a curious, blue-skinned immortal of mysterious origins, who explores the iconic world ofRuneScape in a brand new adventure. Players will discover the power of a new Elder Artefact as they battle monsters, challenge the gods, and grow cabbages for local farmers – all possible while waiting for other games to install, movies to stream, or cooking those cabbages. Progress is made even when Idle Adventures isn’t being played, so even the toughest quest can be completed with time.

RuneScape: Idle Adventures pushes the boundaries of what is expected of an idle title. It’s an idle game with a grand story, one that embraces a lore-rich world to deliver the perfect bite-sized morsel of adventuring, whenever you have a little bit of time to kill,” said Cody Vigue, game designer, Hyper Hippo. “We’ve already received really great feedback from players during the closed beta period, and we’ll continue finessing the game during the Early Access period ahead of a full, multiplatform launch later in the year.”

“The idle genre is the perfect fit for RuneScape’s legendary fantasy tale – our humour, world-ending monsters, lovable characters, and huge medieval landscape has been captured perfectly in this cracking title,” said Mark Ogilvie, design director, RuneScape. “In fact, the true spirit of RuneScape has guided us throughout development – collaborating with our community throughout the beta and adopting our more laid-back approach to adventure. Most excitingly though, it’s allowed us to tell new stories through a new pair of eyes, and deliver a game that hits the mark for any idle, RPG or MMO fan.”

RuneScape: Idle Adventures is now available on Steam Early Access (http://bit.ly/rsidleadv) and is set for a full launch on PC and mobile platforms later in 2016. Watch the Early Access trailer now here.

In other news, it’s time to put your Overwatch skills to the test with the second season of Competitive Play, which is NOW LIVE. We’ve also added new map, Eichenwalde, which is available on the PC and Xbox One! PS4 players will receive access to this content shortly.

Since the last season of Competitive Play, the Overwatch team has made some significant changes to the format to deliver an improved player experience. These changes include:

  • Skill Rating Changes: Player ratings will be measured from 1 to 5000; this expanded scale should give players more detail about how their skill rating changes on a game-by-game basisWe’re also implementing skill rating decay; now, players with a skill rating above 3000 will need to stay active in order to maintain their status.
  • Skill Tiers: We’re introducing seven discrete skill tiers. Depending on their skill rating, players will fall into one of these tiers, but climbing into the next tier is possible as they improve.
    • Bronze: 1–1499
    • Silver: 1500–1999
    • Gold: 2000–2499
    • Platinum: 2500–2999
    • Diamond: 3000–3499
    • Master: 3500–3999
    • Grandmaster: 4000–5000
  • Grouping Restrictions: Players will be unable to group if they have a skill rating difference of more than 1000 from their potential group mates. However, in the Master and Grandmaster tiers, the difference will need to be less than 500.
  • Competitive Points: In season 2, players will now receive 10 points for winning a game. The cost of Golden Weapons will also be multiplied by 10, meaning that golden weapons will now cost 3,000 Competitive Points instead of 300.
  • Leaver Penalties: A 10-minute penalty will apply to any players who leave an in-progress match, on top of the existing leaver penalties that applied in Season 1.

You can find an in-depth insight into the changes being implemented for Season 2 on the Official Overwatch Blog here.

XSEED GAMES SATES CURIOUS FANS WITH A LAUNCH DATE FOR TOUHOU: SCARLET CURIOSITY

XSEED GAMES SATES CURIOUS FANS WITH A LAUNCH DATE FOR TOUHOU: SCARLET CURIOSITY

Upcoming Action RPG Inspired by the Long-Running ‘Touhou’ Series Launches in North America Exclusively for PlayStation®4 on September 20

Torrance, Calif. — September 1, 2016 — XSEED Games, the independent-minded console publishing brand of Marvelous USA, Inc., today announced that their upcoming bullet hell-inspired action RPG, Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity, will launch exclusively for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system in North America on September 20. A fan-made indie title that originally debuted on PC as a Japanese release, Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity will support a full 1080p native resolution running at 60 frames-per second for its PS4™ premier. The game will be available digitally on the North American PlayStation®Store for $19.99.

Set in the ever-evolving Touhou Project universe, Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity trades in the series’ top-down “bullet hell” roots for an action RPG approach, drawing inspiration from series such as Ys while still retaining a distinctly indie feel. In a standalone story that draws upon the series’ 20 years of lore to characterize its two playable protagonists, players take on the role of the titular vampire Remilia Scarlet or her devoted maid, Sakuya Izayoi, as they explore a wide variety of environments and battle aggressive creatures. Fast-paced combat and the series’ trademark complex patterns and waves of projectiles will keep players on their toes as they fight to retake Scarlet’s manor!

Immortality can be boring. At 500 years old, the so-called “Scarlet Devil,” Remilia Scarlet, is desperately searching for something new to end the monotony. After stumbling upon a newspaper article about a powerful and mysterious monster terrorizing the countryside, she rushes out to see if this could finally be the excitement for which she yearns. Unfortunately, not only is she unsuccessful in her search for the monster, but she returns to find her manor in ruins. It would seem the monster has come to her! With a renewed sense of determination (and a much-needed respite from her boredom), she vows to take revenge on this fiend and make it pay!

Developed by Ankake Spa and published in North America by XSEED Games, Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity will be available digitally on the PlayStation®Store for PS4™ on September 20 for $19.99. This title has been rated “Teen” by the ESRB. More information on the European digital release will be released shortly.

Novaquark reveals one-of-a-kind voxel building & crafting game mechanics at Pax West with Dual Universe new construct video

Paris, France, September 1, 2016 – Paris-based game studio Novaquark, the developer behind upcoming Sci-Fi MMORPG Dual Universe, has revealed today a new video showcasing the game’s unique and original construction gameplay based on voxel technology, allowing players to build vehicles, cities, spaceships and orbital stations. Illustrating part of the demo that is presented this weekend in Seattle during Pax West (Booth 6816), the “construct” video, demonstrates in detail how players can build a functional spaceship from scratch using raw material and building tools.

“Continuing to exhibit the advancement of Dual Universe’s development, it’s exciting to share with our fans the centerpiece of Dual Universe gameplay. Constructs are an essential composition of Dual Universe and empowers the community with the tools to create a unique environment and shape the world to their liking using their imagination. We are inviting everyone attending Pax West to come and experience with us how Dual Universe allow players to freely edit the world and build any construction they like with no size restrictions”, says Jean-Christophe Baillie, founder and president of Novaquark.

Novaquark has released the Construct video, which can be viewed here:

Dual Universe is an upcoming Sci-Fi sandbox MMOPRG taking place in a vast universe, and focusing on massively emergent gameplay. Players are free to create their own economic or political systems, gather in organizations and explore the procedurally generated world for resources and opportunities. Quite uniquely, players are also able to modify the voxel-based world: create cities, various scriptable constructs like vehicles, space ships or giant orbital station, with no limit in size or ambition. All players share the same gigantic “continuous single shard” universe: there is only one reality, one world, giving birth to emergent organizations and player specializations around activities like building, politics, security, piracy, space colonization and exploration, logistics, harvesting, manufacturing or industry production. Dual universe is a game where players are invited to rebuild civilizations together.

Dual Universe Gameplay Features

  • Boundless Massively Multiplayer Game: potentially millions of players can share the same universe at the same time. One world, no boundaries, no zones, no instances.
  • Rich emergent gameplay mechanisms enable players to create their own societies.
  • Fully editable world: dig, deploy, craft, create and shape almost everything.
  • Giant player-made ships and constructions can be inhabited and host large crews.
  • Immersive first person view in a futuristic sci-fi universe.
  • Realistic in-game economy (based on market orders and financial tools).
  • Scriptable constructions (ships, buildings, etc.) using LUA: players can build their own piloting, AI or factory automation.

Technological Features

  • Continuous Single-Shard Cluster: the technology behind the “Boundless” MMO approach.
  • Procedurally generated planets, revealed as players explore further and further.
  • 25cm precision voxel technology to modify the environment or construct buildings/ships
  • Unlimited LOD (Level of Detail) technology allows planet-sized construction to be built
  • 64bit Planetary Engine: Smooth transitions from planet surfaces, through atmosphere and into space with no limits to how far the player can travel or see.
