WW2 Meets Lovecraft in Achtung! Cthulhu 2D20 RPG from Modiphius Entertainment

Nazi Occultists, Secret Agents, and Tentacles! Achtung! Cthulhu 2D20 RPG Quickstart Available Now!

Popular WWII-based Lovecraftian Game Setting Gets its Own 2D20 Ruleset

London, UK (February 23, 2021) — Today Modiphius Entertainment, the London-based tabletop publisher and creator, announced the launch of the long-awaited Quickstart rules for its World War II-themed alternate-history Achtung! Cthulhu series. Previously an incredibly popular setting for Savage Worlds and Call of Cthulhu, Achtung! Cthulhu is now available as a standalone tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG), using Modiphius’ own cinematic-styled 2D20 system. The Quickstart rules are available for free from Modiphius’ Achtung! Cthulhu 2D20 website.

This Quickstart ruleset will give players everything they need to get started with the world of Achtung! Cthulhu ahead of the game’s full launch. The free Quickstart PDF contains:

  • A complete starter rule set for Achtung! Cthulhu 2D20 with plenty of hints and tips for new GMs
  • Begin your journey into The Secret War with the exciting adventure, A Quick Trip to France
  • Five pre-generated characters so you can pick up and play the game straight away
  • Battle the special Nazi occult forces and save humanity from the malign power of the Mythos!

Achtung! Cthulhu started out as a setting for Lovecraftian roleplaying — taking place during an alternate history World War II. A secret war is being fought as the Nazis forge alliances with ancient and terrible gods, unearth arcane technologies, and unleash nightmares on the battlefield. Players must discover the truth behind the Mythos’ influence as conflict engulfs the globe during the most significant conflict in world history.

In this pulp-influenced world of brave Allied heroes, secret agents, mysterious mystics, and dauntless two-fisted adventure, players take on the roles of Allied servicemen and women, secret agents, members of the French Resistance, or even hapless civilians caught up in the wider conflict. All stand firm against the twisted might of the Nazis and their occult forces, including the Cult of the Black Sun, who wield foul magic and summon ancient horrors in their bid to unleash Yog-Sothoth and Nachtwölfe, the Night Wolves, who place their trust in weird science and wonder weapons to prevail.

“We’re really excited to share this Quickstart version of Achtung! Cthulhu with our community and give them a first glimpse of what this new and updated edition has in store for them,” said Chris Birch, Founder of Modiphius Entertainment. “This latest edition delves deeper into the darker side of the mythos and throws players into an epic struggle against both the Nazi Occult and the Great Old Ones in a war that has spanned millennia.”

UBISOFT® REVEALS ITS PLANS FOR THE Six Invitational 2021 AND the 2021 TOM CLANCY’S RAINBOW SIX® ESPORTS Season IN each region

UBISOFT® REVEALS ITS PLANS FOR THE Six Invitational 2021 AND the 2021 TOM CLANCY’S RAINBOW SIX® ESPORTS Season IN each region

The Six Invitational 2021 will take place in May 2021.

The Rainbow Six Esports program and the calendar of the 2021 Season – Stage 1 have been adjusted accordingly

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA — February 22nd, 2021 — Today, Ubisoft® unveiled the key updates coming to the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® Esports programs in Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and North America, as well as its new plans for the Six Invitational 2021.

Recently postponed due to travel restrictions implemented by the French Government, the fans and pro teams’ most-anticipated Rainbow Six Esports competition of the year is now scheduled for May 2021. The Six Invitational 2021 will replace the May Six Major. The exact location and dates will be communicated at a later time.

To leave room for the Six Invitational 2021, the calendar for Stage 1 has been adjusted in each region.

  • Stage 1 of the European League will kick off on March 18th at 6PM CET.
  • Stage 1 of the North American League will start on March 24th at 4PM PM ET/ 1PM PT.
  • Stage 1 of the Latin American League will start with the Latin America South Division on March 19th.
  • Stage 1 of the Asia-Pacific League will start with the South Division on March 18th at 6PM AEDT.

More information on the adjustments coming to the Six Invitational 2021 schedule, including the Stage 1 specific calendar, is available: HERE

Additionally, building upon the learnings from the 2020 Season and community feedback, Ubisoft revealed the updates coming to the Rainbow Six Esports programs across all regions in 2021:

  • Draws removal: instead of ending games with a tie, matches will be decided through best-of-3 overtime.
  • Extended rosters:  to facilitate the organisations’ ability to compete at both National and Regional levels, organisations will now be able to have a total of 12 players under their banner – allowing them to have 2 distinct rosters – with up to 7 players registered for each specific roster. Any roster must count a minimum of 5 players and each roster can be supported by its own dedicated coach. Once a roster is registered, it is locked until the next Transfer Window. More details about the practical application will be communicated at a later date.
  • Coaching timeout: coaches will be given the opportunity to pause the game and discuss the strategy with their players. More details on the practical application are coming soon.
  • Standardised points system at the regional level: a regular win is rewarded with 3 points while a loss gives 0 points. When the two teams compete in overtime, the winner will receive 2 points, and the loser receives 1 point.
  • Update on the tiebreakers: In case two teams have the same number of points in the regional standings, a new set of tiebreakers will apply, in the following order, to determine who qualifies to the Six Majors:
    • Head-to-head: whoever had better results in head-to-head matchups will qualify
    • Round difference: whoever had a better round differential throughout the stage will qualify
    • Match Win percentage: whoever had a higher victory percentage throughout the stage will qualify
    • Round win percentage: whoever had a higher round win percentage will qualify
    • Tiebreaker match: If after all these filters there is still no winner, a special match will be organized to determine which teams qualifies for the Major.

EUROPEAN LEAGUE

In Europe, the format of competition will remain the same: an online round robin with best-of-one matches. The 9 playdays will be spread over 7 weeks, with only one match per week for each team on Mondays, starting at 6PM CET. The last two playdays will be played on a special weekend on the 7th week.

Ubisoft is also revamping the online qualifiers for the European Challenger League, with 3 open tournaments spread until the end of summer, granting points and prize money to the participating teams. The top 5 teams across all 3 tournaments will join the 9 Group Stage National League winners, and the 2 relegated teams from the 2020 Season, making the European Challenger League a 16-team competition in 2021. The Playoffs will gather 8 teams, competing in a double elimination bracket played in best-of-3.

NORTH AMERICAN LEAGUE

With the merger of the US and Canada Divisions, 10 teams will be joining the 2021 Season of the North American League. The 2021 Season will be broken down into 3 Stages and will be played offline at The Esports Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Our main priority is the health and wellbeing of our pro players, partners and staff, and we will be working diligently throughout the season to ensure the set up and adherence of strict sanitary measures.

In order to maintain consistency between the regions, all North American League matches will be played in a Round Robin, best–of-one format with overtime. The stages will consist of 7 weeks of play each with 1 playday per week on Wednesdays at 4pm EDT /1pm PDT. The 7th week of each stage will be a ‘Super Week’ with 3 playdays back-to-back from Tuesdays to Thursdays beginning at 4pm EDT / 1pm PDT.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, the schedule may be subject to change.

With the merger of the US and Canada Challenger Leagues, the 2021 Challenger League will consist of 18 teams moving forward. The league will see 14 playdays over 7 weeks, with teams playing in a Round Robin, best–of-one format with overtime.

LATIN-AMERICAN LEAGUE

For the 2021 Season, the Latin-American League will maintain its 3-division structure – Brazil Division, Mexico Division, and the Latin America South Division – but will change its competitive format to best-of-one matches during the regular online stage.

The three divisions will be organised as follows:

  • Brazil Division: will remain with 10 teams
  • Mexico Division: changing from the 2020 structure, an additional team has been added, reaching a total of 8 participants
  • Latin America South Division: will remain with 8 teams from Argentina, Peru and Chile.

Each division – Brazil, Mexico and Latin America South – will have 2 playdays per week over 4 weeks, with an additional 5th week for Brazil featuring 3 playdays, named ‘Super Week’.

  • Brazil Division playdays will take place on Saturdays and Sundays;
  • Mexico Division playdays will take place on Saturdays and Sundays;
  • Latin America South Division will take place on Thursdays and Fridays;

At the end of each stage, the best teams from each division advance to the LATAM League Stage Finals, a tournament that will give the top 4 teams the chance to qualify for one of the most prestigious Rainbow Six Siege tournaments in the world, the Six Major.

Stage 1 of the Brazil Division will kick off on March 20th, while Stage 1 of the Latin America South Division will start on March 19th and the Mexico Division on March 21st.

ASIA-PACIFIC LEAGUE

For the 2021 Season, the Asia-Pacific League will remain divided into 2 divisions, with the North Division – composed of teams located the northern part of the region including Japan, South Korea and South East Asia – and the South Division – composed of teams located the southern part of the region including South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Each division will consist of 8 teams and follow the same competitive format, an online round robin with best-of-one matches.

In addition, Ubisoft will continue to organise the South Asia Nationals to offer up-and-coming teams the opportunity to hone their skills and reach the international competitions.

During a stage, each division will have 1 playday per week over 7 weeks.

  • North Division playdays will take place on Wednesdays, starting at 6PM SGT
  • South Division playdays will take place on Thursdays, starting at 6PM AEST/AEDT

At the end of a stage, the top-ranking team in each division will automatically qualify for the Six Major, based on the regional league point system. The teams ranking 2nd, 3rd and 4th in each division will be joined by the 2 best teams from the South Asia Nationals, to decide who will get the 2 remaining slots for the Six Major in a special weekend of Playoffs.

Ubisoft is also adjusting the R6 SHARE program in the region, with all 16 teams, from both the North and South Divisions of the Asia-Pacific League, now included.

Details on the new plans for the Six Invitational 2021, the related adjustments coming to the programs and the Stage 1 calendar, as well as the key updates coming to the Rainbow Six Esports leagues across all 4 regions, are available here.

About the Rainbow Six Esports global program

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege’s Esports includes 4 main regions, Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. All four regions run in parallel their own dedicated regional leagues, all feeding into one unique and global race towards a qualification for the Six Invitational, the pinnacle of the Rainbow Six Siege competitive year. As teams across the four regions face off in regional and global competitions, featuring 3 Majors and regional leagues, they will be ranked based on an in-depth point system that rewards sustained performance. Each competitive Season runs for nearly a year, from March through the following February. Each Season will be divided into 4 quarters. The first three quarters correspond to the 3 “Stages” of the regional leagues and conclude with a Six Major bringing together 16 of the world’s best teams – four per region across the four regions. Each stage awards prize money and points for the Global Standings. The Global Standings determine the sixteen teams earning a spot to the annual Six Invitational. Following the 3 stages, the last quarter of the season will be dedicated to regional finals and relegations. The season will then conclude with the Six Invitational that will crown the world’s best team. Four additional teams will also have a chance to qualify for the Six Invitational through Regional Open Qualifiers, making the Six invitational a 20-team competition.

TOM CLANCY’S RAINBOW SIX® SIEGE PRESENTS THE FUTURE OF SIEGE

TOM CLANCY’S RAINBOW SIX® SIEGE PRESENTS THE FUTURE OF SIEGE

The Development Team Announces the Year 6 Roadmap, Many Core Gameplay Changes, New Tools to Encourage Positive Behaviour Among Many Other Updates

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA — February 22nd, 2021 — Today, during the Rainbow Six Siege Community and Game Celebration, Ubisoft® announced its plan for the Future of Siege. The continuous support and additions to Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six®  Siege from the studio in the past years will continue in Year 6 and onward, with core gameplay changes coming throughout the year, new tools to encourage positive behaviour, quality of life improvements and a comprehensive Year 6 roadmap, unveiling the nationality of the new Operators and reworked maps.

During Year 5, Rainbow Six Siege released core updates such as Match Replay, sight colour customisation, six Operators, a completely reworked Tachanka and much more. Ubisoft’s long term commitment to offer an ever more tactical, fair, and stable experience to all players continues in Year 6.

YEAR 6 ROADMAP

Crimson Heist, the first season of the Year 6, will bring the Argentinian attacker Flores and the rework of the map Border. This season will be available tomorrow on the PC Test Server. Season 2 will introduce an Operator from the Nakoda Nations and a rework of the map Favela. Season 3’s Operator will come from Croatia, and 3 maps will be slightly reworked. To conclude, the last Operator of the year will be from Ireland, and the reworked map will be Outback.

PLAYER BEHAVIOUR

A first version of the Reputation System has been shadow tested in the past new season, running in the background but not visible for players. The goal of this tool is to encourage positive behaviour within the game by rewarding players with a positive impact on the game with in-game content, while punishing toxicity by limiting access to ranked playlist, for instance. This tool will be transparent for players in order to inform them how to increase their scores and adapt their behaviour. This tool will launch during Year 6.

As they are an essential part of the community, a streamer mode has been designed for content creators to control their anonymity when playing. This tool will allow them to hide their name, region and ping, hide everyone else in the match, including a hidden matchmaking delay, hide their current clearance level and profile image. A first version of this tool will be available in the Crimson Heist Test Server.

CORE GAMEPLAY UPDATES

A new secondary weapon is coming to Rainbow Six Siege – the Gonne-6. This one-bullet secondary weapon can destroy any bulletproof gadget and adds an extra loadout option to players, opening the way for new tactical possibilities. The first version of the Gonne-6 will be available in the Crimson Heist test server for operators Glaz, Dokkaebi, Lion, Finka, Gridlock, Amaru, Iana and Zero.

Players will now be able to control cameras and gadgets after their death. This change has been made to intensify the support phase in a game, and ensure the players that are eliminated can continue to help their team. This feature is planned to release later in Year 6.

To balance Attack and Defence, the Attackers will now have the possibility to change their Operators and loadout as many times as they want in the preparation phase, making scouting even more essential and offering many new tactical possibilities. This feature is planned to release later in Year 6.

To conclude the gameplay updates, Armour will now be switched to Health, to assist players in understanding on how much damage they are able to take. This feature is planned for Year 6.

QUALITY OF LIFE
In addition, quality of life improvements are planned during Year 6: DDoS attacks, already down by 90% this year, will still be a major focus to improve players’ experience. The technical team is working closely with our partner Microsoft Azure to keep reducing matchmaking time and to improve servers’ stability. Lastly, the development team is making a strong effort to reduce the game size in general. This is an ongoing effort already running and will be more visible for players this year.

CUSTOMISATION

In Year 6, players will now have more customisation options for their Operators: players will be able to adapt Elite skins and add in other gear to the outfit for a full customised set.

Last but not least, Ubisoft announced a partnership with Capcom® and its survival horror franchise Resident Evil™. An Elite skin of Resident Evil series veteran Jill Valentine will be available for Zofia, with an additional Resident Evil x Rainbow Six Siege skin coming in Year 6. Ubisoft has also partnered with Creative Director Ikumi Nakamura for a series of skins, starting with Echo and Dokkaebi releasing on March 2nd

TOM CLANCY’S RAINBOW SIX®SIEGE reveals first content of year 6 with CRIMSON HEIST

Rainbow Six Siege Welcomes Its First Argentinian Operator, Flores, Among Many Other Updates

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA — February 22nd, 2021 — Today, Ubisoft® announced the full details of the first season of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® Siege Year 6: Crimson Heist. This new season introduces Flores, a new Argentinian Operator to the Rainbow Six Team, in addition to an entirely reworked Border map, additional features and Elite skins.

In Crimson Heist, players will discover a brand-new attacker: Flores. Equipped with an original gadget called the RCE – Ratero Charge, Flores can deploy a remote-controlled explosive device at his feet and drive it through the map during a limited period of time. At the end of the timer (or earlier if Flores chooses to), the device will arm itself, become bulletproof, and start a short fuse timer, which will detonate a powerful explosion. Flores is armed with an AR33 or a SR-25 as a primary weapon, and a GSH-18 as a secondary weapon.

In addition to this new operator, players will have access to a reimagined map, Border, which has been newly reworked with interior balcony connecting East staircase to Break room. The bathroom has also been extended to be connected to the Tellers. Players can expect a new challenging environment with some entry blocked, a reduced number of destructible walls and an additional outside staircase.

With this new season comes a new secondary gadget, the ‘Gonne-6’. This new weapon will do little damage to soft walls and Operators, but is capable of destroying any bulletproof gadget. The Gonne-6 has been designed to help balance defence favoured and ‘20 second meta’ game present in the Year 5. Additional updates presented in the Future of Siege will be implemented in the Crimson Heist Test Server in order to gather feedback from players: Match Replay Beta and Streamer Mode.

Players will also have the pleasure to discover a new Elite skin for Kali: Masterframe Prototype I coming on February 23rd.

The Test Server for Crimson Heist will go live on February 23rd. The Test Server is an alternative version of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, allowing players to test upcoming gameplay features that will make their way into the main game itself. Since this is a testing environment, a consistent gameplay experience is not guaranteed on the Test Server. Players are invited to submit the issues they encounter on the Test Server on the R6 Fix platform: https://r6fix.ubi.com/
