‘Street Fighter IV’ Ha-do-ken’ing its way to the App Store VERY SOON !!

This is a certainly ZOMG moment !! For all you die hard Capcom fans addicted to the most popular fighting game ever created !! The Street Fighter series, and most recently Street Fighter IV we have some fantastic news.

Capcom has just announced that Street Fighter IV will be making its way to the iPhone and iTouch iPod VERY SOON !!  I hope you were all sitting down whilst reading this as I’m finding it hard to believe that this is even possible.  BUT Ladies and Gentlemen it is !!

You’d be surprised what you can do on that little thing called a iPhone these days 😉

Street Fighter IV is set to arrive to the App Store sometime next month. (MARCH 2010)  Now the important facts and questions you’re all going to be asking and I know exactly what most of you are probably saying right about now :  “AHHH This is a just some sort of dodgy port that’s got crappy graphics and annoying controls”

Well let me stop you right here.  Capcom have taken the conversion of Steet Fighter IV very seriously, with months of extensive testing,  perfecting the virtual control system to make it as easy and as presice as possible, this is certainly one of the most important aspects of Street Fighter, you need to ensure that you can pull off those super ultra combos with ease and Capcom believe that they have nailed it in this department.

Capcom have also tweaked Street Fighter IV to use every inch of the iPhones capabilities and resources, the visuals and character models are the same as the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC versions but slightly scaled down, with little loss of detail or color which is great achievement.  All the Characters will have their complete move list along with Ultra Combo which will also be animated when pulled off successfully !!

At this moment in time the amount of playable characters are unknown to us but if your a fan of Ryu and Ken rest assured Street Fighter will not be Street Fighter without these two legendary fighters at the helm so they’ll certainly be present.  One thing we can confirm is that Capcom have advised there will be a fine mix of both original classic Street Fighters as well as the new characters from Street Fighrer IV.

Finally at the moment there is no tak of actual online gameplay but Street Fighter will support bluetooth battles and tournaments with mates.  Which is better than a Ha-Do-Ken in the head 😉

Let us know what you think of this Amazing news.  Do you think Capcom can actually pull it off ?  From the screenshots that IGN have posted on their website I believe its possible.  Your thoughts 🙂

ALAN WAKE NEWS … NO PC Version … But we have some new screenshots !!

19

alanwake-xbox-screenshots-05

We have some good news and also some bad news.  Ok the bad news first.  As Microsoft have announced Alan Wakewill be a Xbox 360 exclusive, therefore there will not be a PC version of the game.  (dont know if its actually bad news) as long as it’s coming out on XBOX 360 that’s all that matters.

Now the good news, we have some new screenshots from the game.  I have to say I think the 5 year wait has been well worth it.  Alan Wake looks brilliant.  Remedy have done a fantastic job with it.

With a release date of May 18th 2010 it’s not long before we battle the darkness with only the light, our witts and a  soiled pair of undies, this game is gonna scare the crap outta you 😉

Let us know what you think of Alan Wake, are you gonna get it ? Do you think it’s going to live up to it’s expectations or will it just disappear in the darkness as the batteries in the torch light run out.

Darksiders

Ladies and Gentlemen, Capsule Computers would like to share a special article written especially for us by freelance editor, Scott Bullock.  Scott will be throwing his opinions around on the latest video games from time to time and this is one he has shared with us today.

Darksiders

Nobody does Armageddon right anymore. That movie Legion failed hard, morons are freaking out about 2012, and now, even Heaven and Hell can’t seem to do it right.

Thus begins the epic tale told in Darksiders. A screw-up in the Judgment Day festivities leads to War, a Horseman of the Apocalypse, breaking some rules and getting smacked down by his bosses, 3 big stone heads with lava coming out of their mouths. Have you seen Aladdin? Remember the Cave of Wonders? Think that, but vomiting fire, and you’ve pretty much got it.

War, the stereotypical steroid-pumped big dude with a big sword, then has to fight everything in existence to prove that this wasn’t his fault, and to win back his powers, all because of some seal-breaking clerical error. By the way they made it sound, somebody didn’t file the TPS reports or something. So after starting the game with assloads of powers and beastly amounts of HP, I am suddenly forced to play a War so weak he can barely muster the force required to empty his bowls.

Okay, I don’t know if two examples of something makes it a trend, but didn’t we do this in Prototype as well? And wasn’t it really annoying then, too? Is the “start strong, then suck, build back up to strong” thing going to keep happening? I truly hope not…

Anyway, the Council (your bosses) saddle you with this demon-y looking guy named the Watcher, to make sure you stay on task. He lives in your hand. Somebody was hitting the bong when they came up with that idea. “And, like, there’s this guy… *bubble bubble bubble* *coughs*… and he totally like, lives in your hand.” At the same time, however, someone else was smoking the Genius Weed, because they decided to have Mark Hammil voice him.

Mark Hammil is 1000 times better as a voice actor then as Luke Skywalker. This is a scientific fact. Heath Ledger can suck it, Hammil is the best Joker the world has ever, and will ever, see, and he brings that (rather fitting) voice to the Watcher. Even though the Watcher is a massive crotch-stain, and you eventually (spoilers), Hammil’s voice alone was enough to make me like him.

That was badass freaking awesome event #1.

Soon after beginning the game, I came to a stunning realization. If you set a Zelda game in a post-apocalyptic world, and it went on a lovely date with Devil May Cry, but left it’s drink unattended, Darksiders would be the baby it couldn’t remember conceiving. Weapons like the Spinning Blade and the Demon Chain thing correspond very well to the weapons used in Zelda. Maybe a bit too well. It was almost like they thought, “What did Zelda have? Do we have that? No? Well, let’s put it in!” Thus badass realization #2 was a bit tainted.

Then, it was totally cleansed by the next badass realization, #3.
Nearing the end of the game, I had to release an angel held prisoner in a tower, but how to get to those hard to reach places?

The answer? Portal Gun.

That’s right. Darksiders is apocalyptic Zelda with a Portal Gun. That’s it. Game over. This game officially ranks in the top 5 coolest fricken games ever. I’m not sure what the other four are, but it’s in there somewhere.

Let us know what you thought of Scott’s review and also what you think of Darksiders.  Good, Bad, UGLY ??

Football Fans Will Shape EA SPORTS FIFA Online Content During Development Process

EA announced today development of a free*, downloadable game called EA SPORTS FIFA Online that will make its most popular and highest rated^ videogame franchise available to soccer fans with a broadband internet connection and an average spec laptop computer or desk-top personal computer. The free-to-play EA SPORTS FIFA Soccer videogame will call on soccer fans and gamers to help shape features during closed beta testing prior to its English language European open beta release in June 2010.

“Listening to and engaging soccer fans has been one of the driving forces behind the success of our FIFA franchise and now we are inviting European football fans–in mass numbers and earlier than we ever have before–to help us develop a new soccer game,” said Executive Producer Kaz Makita. “Fans will determine the features that matter most, and at the end of this process, our goal is to deliver a game for fans looking for a quick soccer fix at home or at work.”

“There are a large number of soccer fans who do not want a console gaming experience due to time and other priorities in their personal lives but they still want to be able to play a top-quality soccer videogame,” explained Makita. “FIFA Online will be designed specifically for them.”

Beginning February 3, soccer fans across Europe are invited to register to participate in the closed beta development and testing of FIFA Online. More than 20,000 fans will be involved in the first phase of closed beta testing and then, during open beta in June, hundreds of thousands of fans will test the game, providing feedback directly to the game’s developers through exclusive discussion forums.

EA SPORTS FIFA Online will be released around the world in stages. The English language version will be available to all soccer fans in June, 2010. Over the next 12 to 24 months FIFA Online will launch in other languages across Europe and then in North America. Non-English speaking soccer fans will also be able to participate in the development process of these games.

EA SPORTS FIFA Online will offer an authentic soccer experience with 30 licensed leagues, 500 clubs and more than 15,000 players. During the first closed beta stage beginning February 3, the game will feature a 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa tournament mode and a control system that uses the mouse only. At the second stage of closed beta, the game will feature a League Mode that enables fans to manage and compete as their favorite soccer club, and the ability to play online matches. FIFA Online will enable soccer fans and gamers to build their favorite club into their dream team by developing or acquiring players, upgrading skills, and getting unique apparel by earning in-game currency to acquire items or through micro-transactions. Additional content will be designed for the game based on feedback by fans.

Heavy Gunner Video Review

MasterAbbott is back with another of his Video Reviews.  This time we have Heavy Gunner for the Apple iPhone developed by Com2us

heavygunner-02

Heavy Gunner is a Dual Stick control 3D inter-galactic shooting game.  Com2us have done a great job in creating a very original, action packed and very fun game with a huge amount of re-playability thrown in.  With two styles of control options.  You have the touch and tilt options to maneuver your Heavy Gunner tank around combined with the dual analog buttons used for shooting the invading alien forces down.  The action can get wild in the later levels so make sure you choose your style of game-play at the beginning and become accustomed to it so your shooting and movement becomes second nature.

There are a total of 25 missions broken down into 5 levels and 5 sections .  At the end of each section will have you battling against a end of level boss.  There are a wide array of different alien enemies that will keep you on your toes and push you to the limit.  This is where the fantastic amount of weapons comes into play, the choices you make and the weapons you upgrade and take with you on each mission is very important.  There are more than 130 different combinations of upgradable weaponry.  The great fun is experimenting with them all and finding what best suites your playing style.  Another excellent feature is having the ability of going back to do all the sections as many times as you want, by doing so you can accumulate more points to upgrade weapons and also to score a higher ranking.
