Below you will find two videos showing gameplay from the upcoming game, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4. If you have seen the movie or read the book the videos will be instantly familiar. Plus some added humor makes everything even funnier. I’m just glad to see they based the game more heavily on the book even if the sphinx from the book still only plays a small role in the game.
Check out both videos below. LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 will be out June 25th in the UK and Europe, June 29th in North America.

Anthropomorphic squirrel girl? A skimpy outfit? A fighting game?! That is all in one neat little package right there. Or more like Blazblue: Continuum Shift is the package, and Makoto the squirrel girl is the bow on top for a bit of an extra fee. Arc System has released a bit of information about two DLC characters that will be available for the game on August 5th, a full month after Japanese release on July 1st, but only a few days past Aksys’ American release date of July 27th.
Makoto Nanaya is the new character to the lineup, but maybe not as new as one would think. If you have played the previous game of the series; Blazblue: Calamity Trigger and advanced in the storyline you will have noticed Makoto playing around with Noel and being a part of her storyline.
Turns out that there is much more to Makoto as she is now a fighter for purchase in Continuum Shift, though no price has been set on her. Also we do not yet know if the DLC itself will be available for both the Japanese audience and the American audience, but I’m really hoping it also comes to America.
Another fighter that is available for download is an old favorite in the form of Nu. She was originally not included in the sequel, but plays a pivotal part in the first game. Not as much of a new addition but fans of her fast paced fighting style and teleporting blades will be glad to see her come back.
We will be seeing the full game on both the PS3 and the Xbox 360, and if you wish to read our review of Blazblue: Calamity Trigger you can do so here.
Sony has just released a bit of information about a brand new RPG coming out for the PS3 exclusively, and it will be out in September of this year. What is the game you ask? It relies heavily on alchemy, no it isn’t a Full Metal Alchemist game. It is Atelier Rorona, which was developed by Gust. It is the first entry to this series to ever reach American soils, while the rest of the Atelier series has been strictly released in Japan until now.
Here is a bit about the story itself for the upcoming JRPG:
Arland is a small kingdom that used to have a small, poor population. It has prospered recently thanks to newly recovered technology called the machines. Thanks to the machines, the people of Arland are able to live more convenient lives. Within the kingdom, there is a small alchemy shop where Rorona works for the owner, Astrid. The shop used to be successful, but because of the machines and Astrid’s laziness, no customers have come to the shop in a while. One day, a messenger from the kingdom visits the shop and Astrid and Rorona are hit with a dose of harsh reality. They must prove the worth of alchemy by completing all of their assignments over the next three years, or the kingdom will shut down their workshop!
Sounds a bit like Rorona is in a pinch, and that the main part of the story will involve doing various quests to silence the kingdom and their eviction notice. Quite an interesting premise if I do say so myself.
There is a new video that involves Microsoft’s own Scott Hinsen demonstrating the brand new Kinect dashboard interface. One interesting feature shown is that the Kinect will feature full facial recognition, allowing instant log on with a wave of the hand.
He also shows how the voice comands work as he navigates through the Zune Marketplace and tells the Kinect to do various actions related to watching a movie such as pausing and fast forwarding past boring parts.
A new video of the Kinect-controlled 360 dashboard has popped up, explaining how it’ll all work.
One thing that this brings to mind though, that while watching a movie or listening to music… what is to stop someone from coming in and telling it to stop or shut down. Will the Kinect have voice recognition as well to prevent this measure? Or will this be a new prank to be played on your room mates or siblings.
They first gave us The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition…and we all loved it! Then they started working on the second one…and we waited!…The wait will finally come to an end as LucasArts has announced that Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck’s Revenge will be launched on X-Box Live, PlayStation Network, Pc and Mac on July 7th!
Unfortunately if you’re waiting for the iPhone or iPad versions, they won’t come out now as they’re scheduled for the end of this summer.
The game follows the same formula as its predecessor but this time it has some twists! The hint system has been modified so that now you can highlight all the objects you can interact with by pressing L1 and there will be pop-up control options which will only show relevant actions related to an object, also Guybrush’s movements will be controlled via the analog stick.
The game will have unlockable concept art and developer’s commentaries allowing us to get some insight on different characters!

Overview:
As I told you a few days ago, Escape Whisper Valley is PopCap’s latest hidden-object game. When starting the game you find out that due to a sudden rock-slide you are trapped in an abandoned mountain village. In order to escape you will have to explore different parts of Whisper Valley in search for clues which will have to be put together thus helping you find a way out.
Gameplay:
The game has 3 differents game-modes. In the first one, which is available from the start and is the main game mode, you will have to collect 25 map pieces in order to find a way out. For each map piece you will have to find all the objects required in a specific scene. The number of scenes which require completion varies for each level from 2, in the lower levels, all the way up to 8 in the last part of the game.
I must tell you that the game gets you hooked-up really easy as there are dozens of cleverly hidden objects in each of the 25 scenes, and even though the scenes will start to repeat at a point you won’t have to find the same object again (I went through 3 play-throughs before being asked to find the same object!). To make things interesting, beside having to pick the indicated objects, some tasks will be to combine different things, for example: “Slice the cheese” then “Put the piece of cheese in the mouse-trap” or you will be asked to spell “BABY” using some cubes. Things will start getting a little more difficult as you advance thus instead of indicating the object by it’s name you will be asked to point out things like “Has Gills”, “Left by shoes” or “Doesn’t like dogs”.
If you like seeing your name in the High Scores list, you’ll be interested in acquiring bonuses. These can be achieved in a number of ways. You will be rewarded for your swiftness, both by locating the objects really quickly as well as finishing the scene in record time. Also you can try discovering the hidden locks and keys, there are 1 of each in every scene, but I warn you that they come in a lot of shapes and sizes and the HINT system won’t work on them!
At the end of each level you will have to complete a mini-game in order to be given the map piece. There are 7 mini-game types like block slide, match-3 and different types of Jigsaw. These are really fun and help loosen the tension built up from all that object finding. Also you will notice that their difficulties will increase as you progress through the game.
After finishing the game two new game modes will be unlocked, Unlimited Seek & Find, and a mystery bonus game.
In Unlimited Seek and Find you will be able to revisit the scenes, only this time you will be able to search for all the hidden objects available.
–small SPOILER ALERT– 🙂
I usually don’t do this but I have to say that I loved the ending part. I think it was genius to put in that little point-and-click adventure scene, which in my opinion looked and felt great and they could have easily made an entire game just like that!
–END SPOILER–
Graphics and sound:
I have only one word for the feeling that the graphics and sound give: GREAT!
It is obvious that special attention to detail has been given in order to do the scenes. The objects blend in wonderfully and sometimes you’ll find yourself gazing at the screen searching for something, only to find out it was concealed in a painting or in a mirror’s reflection. Everything looks natural and in its place.
I was also impressed by the sound of the game! Even though it gets a little repetitve, the music is very well chosen and at times gives you cold shivers and in combination with the graphics’ style it really emanates the atmosphere of an abandoned mountain village, forgotten with time’s passing.
Feeling:
The game is great and I recommend it to anyone who wants to relax and also practice their “seek-and-locating” skills. You will have a great time playing it, but somehow it leaves you wanting more…Who knows maybe they really are planning an adventure-type game for us in the future!
