I hope you like your Dead Space, because XBLA will be receiving 2 different Dead Space XBLA games.
As you may know Visceral has already announced that the Wii version of Dead Space: Extraction is on its way to XBLA, as well as their resource management game Planet Cracker. They have now announced yet another game coming to XBLA, it’s called Dead Space Ignition.
“Dead Space Ignition is the first of many exciting game extensions we have planned for the launch of Dead Space 2,” states Steve Papoutsis (Executive Producer on Dead Space franchise.) “The interactive comic-style game will give Dead Space fans a unique perspective on the events leading up to Dead Space 2, but will also introduce the storyline to a brand-new audience of gamers.”
Dead Space: Ignition will task players with three computer hacking mini-games to beat. These mini-games are called Hardware Crack, Trace Route and System Override. Each offers different puzzles and twitch style gameplay. Branching paths will lead to different endings, up to four different ones.
The story is written by award-winning comic book, video game and graphic novel writer Antony Johnston. The game will introduce new characters and plot twists to the Dead Space universe, with Johnston’s horror-story expertise making each of the game’s four conclusions equally intriguing.
The game will unlock Exclusive in game content for Dead Space 2 when it ships in January 2011. One of the items will be a new suit for Isaac to use in Dead Space 2. Dead Space Ignition will release on XBLA in autumn 2010 perfect to increase the hype for Dead Space 2.
After a huge showing last year with over 7000 guests in attendance, id Software, Bethesda Softworks and their parent company ZeniMax Media Inc. are bringing back one of the biggest free conventions to Dallas, Quakecon. Starting on Thursday, August 12th at 9am and lasting all the way through til noon on Sunday, August 15th, gamers will be in a for a huge treat as thousands gather from all over to play in world-class tournaments, meet the developers of some of the biggest games in the industry, and get connected with the United State’s biggest Bring Your Own Computer LAN party.
It wouldn’t be called “Quakecon” without Quake of course. There will be big-money pro tournaments and live matches throughout the day featuring id Software’s free-to-play, web-based multi-player game Quake Live with the new 250-seat arena that will allow spectators to get up close and personal with the competitors as well as large screens with commentary from the shoutcasters so attendees will be able to view all the action and excitement at all times.
Can’t bring your own computer? Quakecon has you covered there too, as attendees will be able to get hands on with some of the most anticipated future releases at there such as Brink,Fallout:New Vegas, and Hunted: The Demon’s Forge.
So if contests, tournaments, entertainment, announcements, panel discussions, and parties plus a whole lot more are your thing on top of going to one of gaming’s biggest events this year, Quakecon will be your destination in August. For more information, head to www.quakecon.org.
Recently the Ruffian Games developers of Crackdown 2 informed us of their release of a new DLC. We know two features that will be included in this DLC, which is a new palette of colors and two new stories. Many critics claimed that the color and feel of this game was too dull and lacked.. umph, for use of no better word. Although this has been said, the Ruffian Gamess have claimed that it was their intention to have this style of look to the game.
Currently in the character customization there are dull, “agency approved” colors you get by default. When the DLC comes out, you will be able to choose more a colorful and vibrant palette to satisfy your tastes and make your gaming experience less boring.
Also the DLC, the story is said to change with the downloadable add-ons. One of them is called “The Toy Box” and the other being called “Deluge”. They are both highly anticipated to be thoroughly entertaining, so stay tuned and we will keep you updated!
If you were a kid in the 80’s or 90’s, there is a good chance you have fond memories of tearing open a present, and receiving a brand new electronic keyboard. I remember the first one I ever had, it forever taught me how to play “frere jacques”, too bad that was all I learned on it. but I did have a lot of fun attempting to be Mozart. The new
“Music on: Retro Keyboard” is exactly that though, a more portable electronic keyboard to fit right on your DSi.
Just imagine being able to play theme songs from The Legend of Zelda or Super Mario Bros. everywhere you go, which is what creator and famed 8-bit composer Alberto Gonzalez from publisher Abylight seemed to have in mind.
“One will be able to perform the soundtrack of the best classic video games how they originally sounded” – said Alberto Gonzalez, producer at Abylight and responsible for over 40 original video game soundtracks since 1989 – “It is perfect for retro lovers”.
More features are set to include:
Automatic accompaniment function with chord recognition
Up to 8 user definable chords
5 different styles, each one with 4 variations
Independent drum, bass and chorus parts
6 octave keyboard (2 visible)
Pitch bend function
16 instruments
Integrated sequencer
Metronome
Recording and replay option
With all the features and at a low price of 200 points, this title looks to be perfect to anyone with a bit of a music itch. “Music on: Retro Keyboard” releases in North America on July 12th, and hits Europe and Australia on July 25th. Batteries not included.

So what do you do when you want to make an announcement about your upcoming game, but want to be as mysterious as possible to build up the hype? Post it on your Facebook page of course. At least that is how developer Visceral Games does it.
They have put up the above picture to leave us guessing on what their announcement later this week will be; and all we know is that it is a big one. Though if the picture gives us anything to guess on, it’s something related to the device that is being guarded by the necromorphs and could hint at multiplayer. We shall see later this week, and see the game itself January 2011 for the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360.
Being from Chicago, I loved when Michael Jordan played for the Chicago Bulls and lead them to a dominating spree of NBA Championships, only broken up when he took a brief stint in playing baseball for the Chicago White Sox’s minor league team. Now 2K Sports has decided to put up their cover athlete and it is no one other than his airness Michael Jordan.
It may seem a bit odd to some that his tongue is literally hanging out in the picture they used for the cover, however it is one of Jordan’s trademarks. Any time in which he would be dunking the ball or playing heavily, he would put his tongue out.
Though it may be over a decade past his retirement he is finally gracing the cover of one of the most critically acclaimed basketball series to date, and you can catch the next iteration of 2K Sports 2K11 on October 5.
Oops. Someone let the cat out of the bag perhaps with this rating release in Germany. Because NBA Jam has only been officially announced for the Wii; but these two ratings above are strangely enough… for the Xbox 360 and the PS3.
This isn’t official of course as EA has yet to release any additional information on the subject yet, but why would the ratings board in Germany pass two games that are non-existent? Expect to hear either a confirmation or a denial of these additional versions of the game in the next few days because now that this has come out to the public, EA will definitely have to follow up with some sort of announcement
Microsoft Game Studios and developer Vector Unit announced that Hydro Thunder Hurricane will be released on July 28th as part of Xbox LIVE’s Summer of Arcade promotion!
The game is the sequel to the now oldie (but goldie’ 🙂 ) Hydro Thunder from Midway.
Rather than simply recreate the original game with updated graphics, Vector Unit promised an all-new game engine for the sequel, with gorgeous HD visuals and amazing dynamic water physics. The downloadable game features 8 all new interactive race tracks, new Single Player game modes, Xbox LIVE Leaderboard challenges, as well as robust multiplayer support for 8 players online, local split screen races with up to 4 players — and a combination of split screen and online play.
“Our goal with Hurricane was to deliver tons of new content with the kind of polish and depth you expect to find in a full retail game. It takes hours to unlock everything in the single player mode, and once you’ve done that you still have multiplayer, which I think is where the game really shines.”
Fans will recognize favorite speedboats from the original Hydro Thunder: Razorback, Damn the Torpedoes, Tidal Blade, Rad Hazard and others return with beautifully redesigned models, multiple unlockable skins, and articulated boost animations with massive rockets folding out from hidden compartments. Race tracks are all original, but packed with the kinds of shortcuts and spectacular surprises the series is known for.
“On top of everything else, Hydro ThunderHurricane is perfect for Summer of Arcade. What’s the first thing people think about when it’s summertime? Sun, fun, splashing around in the water, driving a speedboat at 200 mph, jumping off gigantic cliffs, and dodging dinosaurs. Right?”
Yes, it’s that time again, the 7th day of the 7th month, or as many avid Halo players know it, Bungie Day. Bungie really do love the number 7, and to celebrate, in previous years have done all kinds of things, for example give away commemorative themes and gamer pictures on the Xbox Live Marketplace for free. This year is a little different. Although there seems to be no free gamer pictures this year, there is an amusing video from Machinima group ‘Rooster Teeth’ better known for their highly acclaimed series ‘Red vs Blue’, along with a message from Bungie to their fans. Check out the video and message:
It’s the 7th day of the 7th month which means it’s time for everyone here at Bungie to rejoice and give thanks to you, our awesome fan community. As a small token of our gratitude and to reward your support in our quest for world domination, we’ve teamed up with our friends at Rooster Teeth to offer the gift of video. Not just any video mind you, no, this is the definitive Bungie Day machinima video from the people who created Bungie Day machinima videos.
The Xbox LIVE Marketplace version should be landing tomorrow. We’ll update this post when it becomes available.
On behalf of the entire Bungie team, thank YOU for being awesome. We wouldn’t be here without you. Sure, we’d be somewhere, just not here…probably more like the cold damp basement of an rundown school building in Chicago.
Stand strong 7th Column, everything is proceeding exactly as planned. World Domination is quickly coming into reach.
