What if you could have your face in a video game? But there is a catch, you have to be happy in your picture but that isn’t too hard now is it? Because the developer of the railshooter Child of Eden has announced a new project called “The Journey Project.” Ubisoft and Q? have created a system whereas people can submit pictures of themselves with “positive emotions.”
You may submit any photos you want at their website here; but bear in mind only pictures that are approved will be able to end up inside of the game’s ending. The submissions will close on November 20th. The creator director of Child of Eden has made this statement about the Journey Project.
“The theme of Child of Eden is ‘Hope and Happiness’ and I want players to experience happy feelings every time they play the game,” said Mizuguchi, creative director of Child of Eden. “I need your help to convey these positive emotions, so please send us pictures that give you good vibes so we can include them in the ending of the game.”
What is Child of Eden though? It is a railshooter that is being developed by Q? and Ubisoft and will place players into the battle to save Project Lumi which will create a human personality inside of Eden which is the archive of every memory of mankind. While the project was nearly completed it has come under attack from an unknown virus and it is your mission to save Eden. The game has been described as a multi-sensory shooter and will place the player into a world of music and beautiful visuals as you do your best to save Eden. There has yet to be any release date announced for this game however, and we only have the hint that it will be early 2011.
Are you just totally confused about why that guy has red hair? Or, what does this button do? Be baffled no more, because EA has released a new video explaining the EA MMA demo. And remember, don’t try this at home. You might end up with red hair.
The full game will release October 19, 2010. Don’t forget to invite your friends to try out the demo because you can unlock a special character. Until then, keep on fightin’.
Hello Capsule Computer readers! I am Rachel, and I am a new author on the site. You can read all about me in the staff section under the “About Me” link, but I figured I would really introduce myself by showing you what I love the most about games: the multiplayer. So here are the top five multiplayer games that I am looking forward to:
1. Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood
Mode: Wanted
Admittedly, this is the game that spurred the idea for this article. It sounds simply incredible. Long story short, you are in Rome with five other players. One of these five other players is your target to kill – and one of them is out to kill you. I feel like it would make for an amazing movie, yet they stuck it in a game. You also have the choice of several different characters to play. One of them is a Courtesan (a very nice word for a prostitute), and her weapon of choice is a handheld fan. I am entirely impressed and compelled by the originality of the game mode, and I really cannot wait to get my hands on it!
2. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm
Yes, yes, OMG another World of Warcraft nerd! Well, no, not really. I love World of Warcraft, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t obsess over it like many other people do. Honest. Moving past the initial shock though, I am looking forward to the new expansion more than I have the previous expansions simply because Blizzard really stepped it up and is changing absolutely everything. Instead of just adding on a new area like they have in past expansions, they are tearing the known world apart. What that means for people who do not buy the expansion, I don’t know (since in previous times, you just simply weren’t allowed in the new area), but I am really stoked. What I am not stoked about is having to level even further. Seriously, Blizzard, level 85? I never want to level another character again.
3. Fable III
So, I admit, I am a bit of a girl. Okay, I’m lying – I’m 100% girl. I beat Fable II, but did I throw it aside? Definitely not. I actually have a nice little personal blog on my amazing yet really really awful Fable II experience. Let’s just say that I got my dog back, I got a ton of gold from someone random, then bandits killed my husband and social services took my kids. I was angry. So I went and got another husband, although not nearly as good… but let me just continue about Fable III. In Fable II, you had a co-op option, but your co-op partner could only play as a weird henchman. And that was it. Oh, and you could see little avatar bubbles floating around, and you could give them gifts. Cool, right? Lionhead games and the rather infamous Peter Molyneux stepped up the multiplayer in Fable III, and now you can get married to other people over XBL! Or, if you didn’t want to get married to them, then you can become business partners, which Lionhead described as practically being married. They also described getting married as “getting married to other people’s avatars…” Weird, but whatever. I’ll take it.
4. Medal of Honor
Well, I’ve already played the beta some, and to be honest, it is surprisingly like Call of Duty. Being from Dice, I was really hoping for a lot of the same elements of the Battlefield franchise like destructible buildings. Instead, even graphic-wise it looks like Call of Duty. From what I remember in the beta, it even has the kill streak rewards. The only reason that I sound doubtful is because when I read a review recently, the reviewer was happy that they left out the kill streak rewards? Maybe the reviewer was bad and never got a kill streak (hehe). Otherwise though, I am still impressed with the game and I’ll be getting it when it comes out.
5. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam
The main reason I’m looking forward to this is because it is an expansion pack onto my current favorite multiplayer game. I absolutely adore BF:BC2 and I absolutely cannot get enough of it. If you haven’t picked it up yet, you really should. It has already become cheaper at a lot of stores, I believe as low as $39.99 US. Destructible buildings, helicopters, and tanks? Yes, please! Not to mention the different classes you can play! Love it!
Many of you might be painfully wondering why I left out a few games, namely a big one by Treyarch, but as I have never really been into the Call of Duty series I did not include it. There have been a few other games that I have poked around in, like the new multiplayer Final Fantasy and the new Star Wars MMO, but none of them have stirred my interest as much as these have. What are the multiplayer games that you are looking forward to?
Facebook can be an amazing thing. You can talk to your friends and even find out about some special news if your fans of gaming companies. And boy did Lucasarts have a Facebook update today. They have announced that GuyBrush Threepwood of Monkey Island fame will be an unlockable skin for your character Starkiller in the Force Unleashed 2. There hasn’t been any new information beyond that he is unlockable, so what exactly you will have to do to get him is unknown.
Don’t be confused though because Lucasarts originally had their hands in creating Monkey Island so ironically this may have been a crossover for a long time just waiting to happen. We will get more information as it comes, but I have a feeling everyone will have to wait and see how to unlock this skin. If we do have to wait, then we will find out how to get some pirates in our force.
Are you ready for the storm? The ultimate ninja storm? Well you better be because Namco Bandai has finally set in stone the release date for Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja: STORM 2 for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. The game itself is based off of the popular anime Naruto Shippuden which has been animated by Studio Pierrot and has been brought to our shores in America by Viz Media.
There are more additions than just characters this time around as Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 has recieved an overhaul on the online experience as well as evolving the character support system; where you can switch between ninja’s in your group and even allow you to perform Team Ultimate Jutsu when the right teammates are selected. Rather than just following the storyline of Naruto himself, the story arcs you will be experiecing will be placing you behind the controls of Naruto, Sasuke, and Jiraiya as they battle Akatsuki and their own personal enemies all separate from one another.
With over 50 different characters to choose from, you will also be able to take control of Lars Alexanderson from Tekken 6. He will be an unlockable character that will have each of his signature moves and has been completely redesigned to fit the Naruto image by the creator of the series Masashi Kishimoto. It will be hitting shelves and your consoles October 19th of this year so barely even a month away for all the Naruto fans out there.
The Ball is an indie adventure puzzle game that you probably hadn’t heard of. I’ll be glad to fix that. The Ball started out as a Unreal Tournament 3 mod and moved up to become an actual product.
To set up the story, you take control of an archeologist in Mexico. Some things go wrong and you’re now stuck in an underground cave with no choice but to move forward, eventually stumbling upon an ancient artifact called “The Ball”. Venturing deeper into the cave, you quickly realize that you’ve stumbled upon an ancient civilization. These ancient ruins are filled with puzzles and angry mummies.
To solve just about every puzzle you’ll use the Ball – a big and detailed sphere. Pressing switches is only part of the deal as physics plays a huge part in the puzzle solving. I’ve only played about half of the game and I’ve been impressed with every puzzle so far – each one unique and fun to solve.
Initially I was worried about how the ball would control. You’re equipped with a hammer gun which punches the ball forward. Alternatively you can suck the ball towards you if it strays too far. The levels are designed well enough so it’s never a hassle to get the Ball from point A to B. The atmosphere in the levels successfully creates a mysterious and creepy environments as you venture through underground temples and caverns. The game looks absolutely wonderful running on the Unreal Engine, especially with all the settings turned up.
You usually don’t find combat in a puzzle game such at this but The Ball certainly does. The combat is fairly simplistic since you only have the Ball for protection. To kill anything, you’ll have to punch the Ball their way and run them over with it. Most combat scenarios are hectic since you’ll have about 20 mummies rushing you all at once, making is very satisfying when the Ball mows them down.
The Ball is one of those games where you need to see it in action to understand why it’s fun. The Ball will be released on PC in October.
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will be released on the PS3 and PC today via PSN and Steam respectively. Although PS3 and PC players will still be unable to play online cooperatively, every feature from XBLA will still be in place. Look for the online coop update to be released shortly for all systems, as well as 5 new DLC packs. The first 3 DLC expansion packs will contain new puzzles, and the other 2 packs will be playable character packs. Also, the first DLC is free for a limited time. Why raid when you can get it free?
Darrell Gallagher, General Manager of Crystal Dynamics, said, “We can’t wait for PlayStation and PC gamers to get their hands on Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. We’re committed to delivering the very best gameplay experience possible and the fact that this is the highest rated Lara Croft game since the original Tomb Raider was released back in 1996 is a testament to this. I would encourage everyone to try the free trial.”
Fable 3 is looking to be one of the next big releases this year and as a huge fan of the series, it couldn’t come soon enough. Fable 3 already looks promising with the updated story, graphics, and more features than ever before. One thing that is always a plus to see though is good voice actors as well and Lionhead Studios recently released a new “Inside Lionhead” video today about the high profile voice talent that worked on the project.
“The ‘Fable’ franchise has always been recognized for its unique take on drama, morality, and of course, humour,” said Louise Copley, head of the “Fable” franchise. “We’re taking this to the limits in ‘Fable III’ by bringing on a star-studded cast that includes Sir Ben Kingsley, John Cleese and Simon Pegg, who truly understand what it takes to bring characters to life in complex ways and add new dimensions of blockbuster entertainment to ‘Fable III.’”
“This is my first experience voicing a video game, so what drew me to it was the team, how committed they are, how well organized everything is and how beautiful the game is,” said Sir Ben Kingsley in the video documentary. “One of the things that’s missing from a lot of video games is good writing and good voice work. I think this one has a wonderful mythology and it’s witty and it’s engrossing,” added Simon Pegg in the video documentary.
Some of the biggest stars that made it into the game are:
John Cleese (James Bond Series, Monty Python) as your trusty butler and confidant, Jasper
Sir Ben Kingsley (Gandhi, Shutter Island) as the leader of the mountain dwellers, Sabine
Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead, Star Trek) as attention-seeking soldier Benn Finn who is looking for action
Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds) as the evil King Logan whom your “Fable III” hero will lead a revolution against
Zoë Wannamaker (Madame Hooch from Harry Potter) returns as Theresa. She was last seen taking over the Spire in “Fable II,” but who knows what her real motivation is?
Stephen Fry (Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland) returns as Reaver, the narcissistic marksman blessed with eternal youth
Bernard Hill (Titantic, Lord of the Rings) as Sir Walter Beck, your faithful mentor
Nicholas Hoult (About a Boy) as the potential male love interest, Elliot, to your “Fable III” female hero
Naomie Harris (28 Days Later, Pirates of the Caribbean) as Page, the leader of the rebels who reside in Bowerstone
You can check out the latest “Inside Lionhead” video and get a first look at some of this huge cast in action below. Fable 3 releases October 29th for the Xbox 360 and we will be sure to bring you even more coverage as the date looms closer.
Today Sony announced the release of a Game of the Year Edition of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, the sequel to Naughty Dog’s smash hit Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. I’m actually surprised this hasn’t been available for months already! Uncharted 2 is a truly incredible game, and it deserves more than just a Game of the Year edition, it deserves a Best Game Ever edition. I wouldn’t go that far actually, but it’s the best game this generation hands down.
What does this GOTY Edish hold for those of us who don’t already own this amazing game? According to the artwork, about $35 worth of DLC:
* PlayStation Heroes Skin Pack
* UNCHARTED: Drake’s Fortune Multiplayer Pack
* UNCHARTED 2 Siege Expansion Pack
* Currency Multiplier which grants Double XP up to level 10 in Multiplayer
* Golden Guns option for the AK-47 and the 92FS 9mm pistol for use in Multiplayer

Honestly, this game is so good that a Game of the Year edition doesn’t need all this extra stuff, but it’s awesome that they’re throwing it in anyways. The retail price is $49.99, which is only a $10.00 drop from the original price, but you’re getting $35 worth of content, so you’re getting an incredible deal. If you don’t already have this game, run out and get it when the Game of the Year edition drops on October 12th!

MMA, EA’s answer to THQ’s UFC game franchise is now available to trial on the xbox live marketplace. Microsoft have confirmed the demo is available now for download now. Ironically, THQ owns the official license for the sport, meaning this is one of the sports which EA doesn’t own the official license to. If you decide to try it out, go ahead and let us know whether it’s up to their usual high-standards.
