Real Racing 2 to hit the App Store on the 16th!

The peoples at Firemint’s office have been working very hard to finalize the sequel to their popular car racing game. Thanks to them, the release date has finally been set; it will be out on the App Store at approximately 5 days from now. The game will be priced at US$ 9.99/ £5.99 / AU$12.99, featuring as many as 30 licensed cars, with up to 16-players online multiplayer racing. It’s  just simply too awesome that I shall repeat that again, it’s sixteen. Not five, not ten, but SIXTEEN. That is like one and a half football team. You can now race against 15 other players online, and we actually thought that 10 people on multiplayer are the maximum we could go on the iOS devices few months ago (Remember Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus?). 5 days is a long wait, so I’m going to give you a video trailer to watch and some in-game screenshots for you to drool at. Enjoy!

Real Racing 2 features include:

PS3 Final Fantasy XIV Delayed

Well another delay on the Playstation 3 Version of Final Fantasy 14 and also looks like the staff is getting switched around. I do hope when the game is released it’ll be well worth the wait here’s the info Yoichi Wada-san.

Thank you for your continued interest in and support of FINAL FANTASY XIV.

While more than two months have passed since the official launch of FINAL FANTASY XIV service, we deeply regret that the game has yet to achieve the level of enjoyability that FINAL FANTASY fans have come to expect from the franchise, and for this we offer our sincerest of apologies.

After thorough deliberation on how to meet those expectations, it was decided that the most viable step was to approach improvements under new leadership and with a restructured team.

To realize this vision, and in doing so, provide our customers with a better game experience, we have assembled our company’s top talent and resources. Taking over the role of producer and director is Naoki Yoshida, a passionate individual for whom customer satisfaction has always taken top priority. Not only is he one of our Group’s most accomplished and experienced members, Naoki Yoshida is also a charismatic leader possessing the skill to bring together and effectively helm a team which encompasses a wide range of responsibilities. We also welcome several new leaders handpicked from other projects to work with the existing talent on FINAL FANTASY XIV.

We realize time is of the essence and are fully determined to provide our customers with quality service. It is because of this that we ask our customers to be patient until we are able to confidently present them with a concrete plan outlining FINAL FANTASY XIV’s new direction. The free trial period will be extended until that time.

Regarding the PlayStation 3, it is not our wish to release a simple conversion of the Windows version in its current state, but rather an update that includes all the improvements we have planned. For that reason, we have made the difficult decision to delay the release of the PlayStation 3 version beyond the originally announced date of March 2011.

The FINAL FANTASY XIV team is working hard to bring our customers an unparalleled adventure, and we ask for your continued understanding and support as we march ever diligently towards that goal.

President and CEO, Yoichi Wada

The Force will be strong… in 2011?

3

After two amazing E3 events and two incredible videos, Electronic Arts has announced that early 2011 is not the date your looking for in regards to a release date for the Star Wars MMO, The Old Republic. The new release date is scheduled for sometime around in the fiscal year of 2012, which starts after April 2011.   EA has just taken over publishing and distribution rights for the game, which it had been previously been sharing with Lucas Arts.  So far, this is Electronic Art’s largest project ever, as measured by the total amount spent on development.  As with anything Star Wars, I am geeking out.  Anybody else with me?

EA Releases More Info about Madden NFL on the 3DS…

EA recently revealed their plans to bring out Madden NFL to the 3DS with traditional 11-on-11 games or the more fast paced 5-on-5. The publisher has now released quite a few more details (as well as the shiny new logo above) for the title which is looking to be a launch title on the Nintendo 3DS.

Details are as follows:

• NFL Football in 3 Dimensions—Experience all the drama of Madden NFL with 3D graphics. Madden NFL Football brings the NFL to life like never before with a presentation optimized for 3Dviewing, including 3D specific cameras that provide all-new levels of depth.

Authentic Madden NFL ExperienceMadden NFL Football delivers all 32 NFL teams and stadiums in 3D graphics, making Madden NFL Football the perfect on-the-go game for every football fan.

  • Football for Everyone—With three types of playcalling—GameFlow, Arcade and Classic—Madden NFL Football offers an enjoyable experience for gamers of all skill levels. The GameFlow feature automatically selects the best play for the situation based on authentic NFL team gameplans. Use Arcade playcall for more control over plays or Classic to experience the full depth of your favorite team’s authentic playbook.
  • Season Mode—Take the reins of your favorite team on a journey to the Super Bowl! Play 11-on-11 or 5-on-5 and see if you have what it takes to make it through the rollercoaster ride of a full NFL season.
  • Action Packed 5-on-5 Mode—In addition to the traditional 11-on-11 games, Madden NFL Football puts a new twist on an old style of competition. Take your game back to the neighborhood with high-scoring, fast-paced 5-on-5 action. No penalties, no play clock, just action-packed football where the first team to score a set number of touchdowns walks away with ultimate bragging rights!
  • Call Your Shots—Unleash the amazing power of the Nintendo 3DS Touch Screen to draw up your own plays on the fly! Whether on offense or defense, you can create the ultimate audible at the line of scrimmage.
  • Spotlight Moments— Experience the drama of game-changing plays with Spotlight Moments in 3D. During pivotal moments, cameras move in tight and gameplay slows down to allow you to influence the biggest plays of the game. Whether evading a sack, making an open field tackle, or leaving a defender in the dust, it’s up to you to make the key move when Spotlight Moments put you in the limelight.

I have said it before, I don’t care too much for most sports titles, but Madden NFL is showing a lot of promise not just for a gamer like me, but anyone who is planning on picking up a 3DS. EA’s ground up approach is starting to look better each day and I can’t wait to see how this one plays out. On another note, with all of this information coming forth as of late for 3DS titles, I am starting to think the announcement of the price and date for the 3DS itself should be very soon so…stay tuned? For now though, we have yet another title to look forward to for the 3DS with a date as of now of simply “2011”..

New SSX incoming? – Please let it be true!

A few weeks before my sister got married, my parents, my brother and I went to visit our future in-laws in Ohio.  While everybody else fretted over wedding plans, my brother-in-law’s nephew and I played hours upon hours of SSX on the original Xbox.  At the time, I thought it was the greatest game ever.  It is what inspired me to purchase Skate, another game I loved.

So what could possibly be better than SSX and Skate?  By combining SSX and Skate! And that is exactly what is rumored to be happening. According to the registration of two websites, SSXFirstDescent.com and SSXDeadlyDescent.com, the game is being developed from the studio that brought us the totally siiiiiick skating franchise and the new SSX will incorporate the totally siiiiiick control scheme of the Skate series.  Plus, it is purported to have features like “avoiding, out-running and even riding on top of massive avalanches; battling hurricane winds; white-outs; bitter cold; falling rocks; and gaping crevasses that open up at a moment’s notice.”  The game may even have base jumping, skyboarding, ice climbing, and wingsuit flying.  In the last piece of evidence, Peter Moore also mentioned that an “obscure” title will be revealed at the VGA ceremony.  Here is hoping…

Four new L.A. Noire screenshots submitted for evidence

It’s been quite a long time coming but L.A. Noire is coming out next spring for the PS3 and the Xbox 360. Now Rockstar Games and Team Bondi have decided to up the anti even more by releasing a few screenshots to help keep us satisfied just a little longer by teasing us. Four screenshots were released that show off different parts of the game, such as how a detective from 1947 had to perform his job.

Playing as Phelps you will have to solve different cases that range from robberies, murders, and what looks like arson even. Rather than jumping in guns blazing it seems that a sharp tongue is the best way to survive the world that L.A. Noire takes place in. Then again dead bodies don’t answer questions so make sure that your guns are your last resort. Catch the screenshots above and below.

Dead Space 2 trailer displays the fall of the Sprawl

It’s never a good thing when a space station comes under attack. It definitely isn’t good news especially when they are under attack by Necromorphs. What we see in the trailer below for Dead Space 2 is the fall of the Sprawl. We see many people being killed in different ways by the Necromorph infestation and the fact that only Isaac Clarke knows what to do.

What is new however are the various battle scenes that we witness. The boot jets are also used in the trailer to chase what looks like a runaway train. Then again on that same train it appears that Isaac starts to suffer a breakdown and strange symbols appear around him, could his mind still be altered from the Marker?

The 3rd Birthday storyline detailed in a trailer

We’ve seen bits and pieces about the gameplay elements that will be featured in Square Enix’s The 3rd Birthday, but what about the story? There hasn’t been much information about the story released other than it will contain Aya and continue the Parasite Eve story. That is until today when a new trailer was released that details the basis of the storyline.

Now it is five minutes long and in Japanese, but subtitles help clear up any confusion that we may have about what is going on. The trailer itself talks a bit about the story and then delves into gameplay and cut scenes. All of this is great to know considering The 3rd Birthday will be out in Japan in a couple of weeks and then in America sometime in early 2011 for the PSP.

Crimson Viper & Storm join the cast of Marvel vs Capcom 3

Capcom keeps buffing up the roster of fighters that will be available in Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds and they have added in another two fighters, one from each world.  From the Marvel side of things we are seeing yet another X-Men joining with classic team member Storm. But that isn’t all, Capcom is bringing in a Street Fighter to counter the forces of nature in the form of Crimson Viper.

That brings the current number of selectable fighters to 32. It will be interesting to see who else will be revealed as the game grows closer to it’s release date of February 15th of next year. As per standard they have also released videos which feature both Storm and Crimson Viper performing various attacks and special moves to get us even more excited about a game we have been ecstatic about for months.
