Tiny MAME Arcade Cabinet is both functional and adorable

While handheld gaming has arguably improved over the last few decades, this is perhaps one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a while. YouTube user 33Bender has uploaded a video of his creation, a 1/8th scale arcade cabinet loaded up with a MAME emulator. MAME, or Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator, is a type of software that allows users to run arcade games and has allowed DIY types all over the world to create their own multi-game arcade cabinets for years. This little guy is built around the GP2X Wiz, a handheld MAME emulator.

As seen in the video, the micro cabinet is loaded with tons of arcade roms and has fully functional controls, making arcade gaming on the go a convenient (and impressive) operation. To see this little MAME cabinet in action check out 33Bender’s video, where he shows off the world’s smallest authentic Donkey Kong experience.

Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury releases on XBLA, as crazy as ever

I think the above screenshot describes Bangai-O better than words can. Actually, I thought of some words that might do the trick: “Lots. Of. Missiles.”, yeah that does it. For anyone who hasn’t played Bangai-O, it may look overwhelming. Anyone who has played Bangai-O knows that it absolutely is overwhelming, but that’s the fun part.

Originally developed by legendary studio Treasure, creators of hits like Gunstar Heroes and Ikaruga (as well as more obscure classics like Mischief Makers and Dynamite Headdy, for the Nintendo 64, Bangai-O also found it way to the Sega Dreamcast. In 2008, a sequel titled Bangai-O Spirits was released for the DS, and now finally gamers who missed out at the turn of the millenium can play the original on their 360. This new version, Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury, sports some obvious graphical improvements over its N64 and Dreamcast counterparts along with some other treats for Bangai-O veterans and newcomers alike.

Along with ramping up the graphics for the game’s 100+ levels, D3 has also included a level editor for players who enjoy a more customized experience. Bangai-O HD also features coop multiplater in which the number of missiles on screen must be a metric assload. This revival of a classic shooter also controls via dual analog sticks, which is an absolutely fantastic improvement over the original control scheme.

Bangai-O is one of the those games that you sort of need to play to believe. If flying a giant mech through outer space while shooting hundreds of homing missiles simultaneously while collecting various fruits doesn’t sound fun to you, then you may have a damaged fun receptor and should contact your local physician. For everyone else, Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury can be had on Xbox Live Arcade right now for 800 Microsoft points.  Download now

Wii price drops to $150 on May 15th, Nintendo Selects line-up launched

Despite retailers jumping the gun and placing the Wii on sale for $149.99 early, Nintendo itself had not confirmed any price drop and had stood by the $199.99 price tag. That is until today when Nintendo confirmed that on May 15th the price of the Nintendo Wii will be sold at $149.99 and you will be able to buy it bundled with Mario Kart Wii and the Wii Wheel accessory. Mario Kart Wii will replace the Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort previously bundled with the console.

Besides the Wii price drop, Nintendo fans will also be able to purchase a number of titles for only $19.99. These titles will be placed under something called Nintendo Selects and will include any of Nintendo’s hit games. These include Animal Crossing: City Folk, apparently Mario Super Sluggers, Wii Sports and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. These titles will go on discount on May 15th as well.

Record of Agarest War Zero rated by ESRB; just as provocative as one may expect

This isn’t the first time that the ESRB has had to tangle with rating a Record of Agarest War game and hopefully it won’t be the last considering there is Record of Agarest 2 already released in Japan. This time around though they had to handle reviewing Record of Agarest War Zero, the prequel to the first title. If you have heard of the Agarest War series you know that it has had some risque scenes in the past and the gameplay focused primarily on RPG elements as well as dating sim elements.

This time around fans of the first game won’t be disappointed as the ESRB has found the title worthy of a T rating but nothing more. The ESRB finds that the game will have plenty of sexual innuendo and boob jokes as well as skimpy outfits. Also don’t forget about the hot springs that can be visited upon meeting certain requirements in game. You can catch the full ESRB summary below and catch Record of Agarest War Zero in stores on June 14th for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

This is a fantasy role-playing game in which players control a hero and his troops through a span of two generations. Players explore towns, travel along map points, and fight humans and creatures in turn-based battle. Combat consists of small characters standing in place as players select weapons and attacks (Trick Hit, Black Mist, Shadow Burn, etc.) from a menu screen; damage is indicated by various slashing sounds, light effects, and floating hit points rising above characters’ heads.

The game depicts several female characters whose breasts/buttocks are partially obscured by towels, hot-spring mist, blankets, and skimpy costumes. These still-frame images also depict female characters holding each other provocatively or engaging in suggestive/sexual dialogue (e.g., ‘I’ll teach you how to please a man’ and ‘[W]hy are you touching me?!’/’Not . . . there . . . Ooooohhh! Please, go easy on me!’).

In one extended sequence, female characters in a hot spring compare each others’ bust sizes (e.g.,’She is a grown woman now,’ ‘Such courage, to so brazenly flout the laws of gravity’ and ‘Yours are just as large, Mimel!’). During the course of the game, characters make several references to alcohol (e.g., ‘She shall make an excellent drinking partner,’ ‘We might drink hot buttered rum,’ and ‘Barkeep, bring us some more fresh ale!’). Language such as ‘bastard’ and ‘damn’ can be heard in dialogue.

Honky Tonk Man and R-Truth released as free DLC for WWE All-Stars

WWE All-Stars is an over the top wrestling game and could easily be what a younger child may think of actual WWE wrestlers with the way that they leap off the ropes and turnbuckles with ease as well as throw around very large men without throwing out their back. But then again WWE All-Stars is also a game that practically no WWE fan should be without and THQ has decided that they should reward these fans a little bit.

THQ has released Honky Tonk Man and R-Truth for free to download on the XBLM and eventually on the PSN whenever it goes back online. The content will place the WWE Hall of Famer Honky Tonk Man and most recently turned Heel superstar R-Truth into your roster for free. Also released was the American Dream Pack that actually costs money, 160 MSP or $1.99 that includes Dusty Rhodes and his son Cody Rhodes. Who else do you think is going to be released in the future for DLC?

Sony facing Class-Action lawsuit in Canada

This can be seen as either an attempt to potentially help victims of stolen information, or an attempt at trying to get a piece of a very large pie as well as get your name plastered all over the internet but regardless which one it is, a Canadian law firm is set to bring a class action lawsuit against Sony says Edge Magazine.

The lawsuit is focused around the loss of personal information after the attack on the PSN and it is seeking 1 billion dollars worth of damage to compensate the supposedly one million Canadian account holders for their lost information. The stance of the suit is that because Sony knew about the loss of personal information for some time before letting PSN users know, it could have caused potential harm to one million consumers.

Of course this is all speculation at the moment and it can easily be overthrown but McPhadden Samac Tuovi LLP, a Toronto firm, is representing Natasha Maksimovic from Mississauga. The firm states that they “have commenced a proposed class action against Sony Japan, Sony USA, Sony Canada and other Sony entities for the breach of privacy. The lawsuit claims damages in excess of $1 billion, which includes having Sony pay the costs of credit monitoring services and fraud insurance coverage for two years.”

Whether or not this lawsuit will go through has yet to be seen, nor has it been seen as to how exactly the various PSN users of Canada will be compensated if the law suit actually happens to win. But if they do then Sony will definitely lose a hefty chunk of funds.

The Darkness 2 arrives on shelves on October 4th

If you’ve been waiting to hear when you will be able to play as Jackie Estacado and his evil tentacles then you will be happy to know that you will be able to get your chance on October 4th when the title is set to release in North America and then October 7th worldwide.

2K Games has also released a brand new trailer for the game to go along with this announcement but then again there was no actual gameplay involved in the trailer other than Jackie Boy talking to us and telling us that the Darkness wants out, and after a few years of laying dormant it must be hungering for some more hearts to eat and people to kill. Catch the trailer below and let us know what you think some new additions to the title could be.

Lego Pirates of the Carribbean: The Video Game demo live on Xbox Live now; releasing May 10th

Despite many sources already listing a release date for May 10th Disney Interactive has decided to make it official a week before release. Lego Pirates of the Carribbean: The Video Game is indeed coming out next Tuesday on May 10th across practically every platform used today and you can now gain access to the demo free on the Xbox Live. The demo itself lets players play through one of the early levels of the game, Port Royal where each of the movies seems to start from usually.

The whole game will feature over seventy characters from the popular films, including Jack Sparrow of course, all redone with Lego face lifts. The title will apparently also contain some content from the next film in the series, On Stranger Tides, but there has not bee much information given out regarding that feature as of yet. Either way we have yet another Lego game from the widely popular franchise that stretches from children to adults.

Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition comes with Bobble Budds if bought from Capcom

Let it be said that Capcom has officially milked the Super Street Fighter IV namesake to death. Seriously, fans love your games but c’mon there needs to be a line drawn in the sand at some point. With Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition being released not only through DLC but through retail release you’ll have two separate ways to purchase the new content that gives you Evil Ryu and Oni as well as a few other features.

Fans of Super Street Fighter IV can choose to download the Arcade Edition DLC on June 7th instead of buying the separate disc version on June 28th, but if for some reason you have yet to buy Street Fighter IV then you should take a look at Capcom’s store before you make your pre-order because if you do buy the game from them you will also receive Bobble Budds. These Bobble Budds will feature Oni and Evil Ryu and are a nice little feature to have for die hard Street Fighters. Though you can save your money for Super Street Fighter IV Hyper Advanced Arcade Edition Mk. III GOTM (Game of the Millenia) Edition with inflatable Ryu snuggle buddie when it releases next year too… not.

G4 crashes helicopter into house, denies damage

G4 was at one time, very long ago, known as a television channel for gamers. Those days, however, have long since past and the network is now plagued with hour long marathons of reality tv like Cops, Cheaters, and Campus PD (cops for drunken college students). If you’re lucky, you might catch Star Trek Next Generation, but rarely will you see any quality programing relating to games anymore. It has been long thought by the gaming community that the quality of G4TV has plummeted since its Tech TV days. Well, now something else has plummeted: Campus PD’s helicopter into the home of Pennsylvania residents.

As you can see from the phot above, there was severe damage to the bedroom and property of the homeowners. After the crash, G4 denied that there was any structural damage to the house and the press was shown a still intact wall from the street. The wall the press saw however was not the wall the chopper hit, and the true scope of the crash was hidden. While there are plenty of reasons to hate G4, or to be disgusted by their programming, I think this really just scrapes the bottom of the barrel. Not only do shows like Campus PD or Cops attempt to capitalize on others’ misfortunes (some of whom are completely innocent), but they are also just horrible shows. Now G4 has clearly cut out the middle man and is trying to see just how unlikeable a single network can be. Please, head over to Reddit, where the distraught couple shares the rest of their story.
