Hunted: The Demon’s Forge available in stores today!

Bethesda and inXile Entertainment’s latest title, Hunted: The Demon’s Forge is available on shelves now for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the PC. It will be available in Europe on June 3rd. As you have seen previously Hunted: The Demon’s Forge looks to set a new standard in dungeon crawling experiences. By focusing heavily on co-op gameplay players will be able to team up with a friend or with their AI partner to take on waves of vicious enemies.

Players will be able to play as either E’lara, a ranged weapon user or Caddoc, a melee expert, and perform co-operative attacks that will leave any monstrosity you come across dead on the ground. We’ve previously seen this launch trailer, but it is always good to see it again. Especially with that Capsule Computers mention right there…

Heroes of Ruin to arrive on 3DS in 2012

Square Enix has officially announced their next 3DS title. Named Heroes of Ruin it will be a dungeon crawling roleplaying experience that will focus on co-op gameplay and of course what every dungeon crawling game needs, lots of loot.

Heroes of Ruin will feature online co-op play for four players. Square-Enixare really proud of all the online and multiplayer features for the game, which we’ll provide in greater detail in the coming months, but we can confirm Heroes Of Ruin will have online play (as well as local) for multiplayer. The game will also make use of the StreetPass and Spotpass features of the 3DS by offering rare items and challenges from SpotPass and shops made out of other players’ found items via StreetPass.

Heroes of Ruin will be released some time in 2012 for the 3DS and there will be a playable demo at E3, which means we should be able to get our hands on the title within a week. As you can see from the screenshots, the game looks quite interesting, and will can’t wait to test it out.

Catherine rated by the ESRB, given interesting description

catherine42509

We all knew that when Catherine appeared in front of the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) it would be an interesting turn of events. Catherine has managed to obtain an M rating from the ESRB and has been given quite a lengthy description. It appears that the game may be a bit more tame than we thought in the ways of sex, but it sure sounds creepy. Chainsaw wielding babies anyone?

Catherine will be released for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 on July 26th and is sure to have gamers talking about the contents for quite some time. Now the only question is, will you be willing to buy the “Love is Over” Deluxe Edition from your local store? Catch the full ESRB description below:

This is a puzzle adventure game in which players assume the role of Vincent, a man with relationship issues that are manifested in his dreams. The game transitions between animated cutscenes and puzzle stages (i.e., nightmares); in the nightmare world, players must help Vincent ascend crumbling towers by pushing, pulling, and climbing blocks to reach an exit. If players make the wrong move, they can be killed by spike traps and giant boss creatures (e.g., a demon bride, a chainsaw-wielding baby); death scenes are accompanied by exaggerated splashes of blood as Vincent is stabbed, crushed, shot, or bitten.

During one cutscene, a character is stabbed in the stomach with a knife; a large pool of blood quickly forms under her body. In order to move faster in the puzzles stages, players can order Vincent alcoholic beverages (e.g., mixed cocktails, beer, sake, whiskey); after three drinks, he begins to stumble around when moving. These sequences are accompanied by voice-over narration: “It’s said that chugging alcohol isn’t good for you, but sometimes it’s necessary” and “[T]ake a big swig of cognac!” Throughout the game, sex and sexuality are frequently referenced, sometimes while two characters are in bed together (e.g., “I finally became a man! Got rid of my V-card, BOOM,” “If the one you loved confessed to a sexual habit that you found absolutely unacceptable, what would you do?” and “After all you’ve done to my body . . . Night after night . . .”).

One bedroom sequence pans across a man’s legs, then to his curling toes; another scene briefly depicts a woman caressing her body while making suggestive comments (e.g., “I’ve got such a hunger for these feelings . . . I know you have some hungers as well, don’t you?” ). The game also depicts the central character surrounded by topless female demons—though shadow effects obscure most details. The words “f**k” and “sh*t” can be heard in the dialogue.

WWE ’12 will be bigger badder and better than ever

It looks like there won’t be any Smackdown Vs Raw title gracing the shelves of gaming retailers this year, because the next game from WWE will be called WWE ’12. In a teaser released today by THQ we see heavy focus on current superstar Randy Orton and his rise from a rookie fighter in Evolution to where he is today, winning the World Heavyweight Champion from Christian.

IGN was given a first hands on with the title and has placed a preview for the game on their website. Some highlights include Predator Technology, allowing fluid movements in the game, Dynamic Comebacks like we see John Cena and Randy Orton do all the time, and AI memory, meaning that you can’t perform the same move all the time or else you will be countered. This is an interesting and hopefully refreshing turn of events for THQ’s wrestling game division. We’ll see more in the coming weeks, but know now that WWE ’12 will be released in North America on November 22nd and everywhere else November 25th.

PlayStation Store to be restored later this week

Sony announced earlier this morning that they will be able to “fully restore all PlayStation Network services” to America, Asia and Europe by the end of this week. The areas that will not be restored by the end of the week are estimated to be Japan, Hong Kong and South Korea.

When Sony means full functionality this means that the PlayStation Store will be put back online, including voucher and code redemption, as well as Qriocity and Media Go for people who actually use those things. This also means that the “Welcome Back” program will soon go into effect and allow PlayStation 3 owners to download their free games.

Kaz Hirai from Sony had this to say about the restoration and downtime: “We have been conducting additional testing and further security verification of our commerce functions in order to bring the PlayStation Network completely back online so that our fans can again enjoy the first class entertainment experience they have come to love. We appreciate the patience and support shown during this time.”

Target claims Xbox 360 250GB Kinect Bundle was mispriced

If you were hoping that you could pick up a Xbox 360 250GB Kinect Bundle for $100 cheaper than normal than you may be disappointed because Target has fixed the ad placement. Yesterday we reported that Target.com had an advertisement on their website for the Xbox 360 250GB Kinect Bundle at being only $299 instead of the standard $399.

Unfortunately Target released a statement today saying that “Target recently became aware of the mispriced Xbox 360 250GB Kinect Bundle shown on Target.com’s main video game page. The page will be updated shortly to reflect the correct price. We sincerely regret this inconvenience.”

This of course could just be a cover up of Target’s mistake by releasing the price drop early and Microsoft had talked to them about it. But we will know in a week when Microsoft’s E3 press conference takes place whether or not this price drop was actually real.

F.E.A.R. 3 Soul Survivor multiplayer mode revealed

F.E.A.R. 3 is a game that you play for the scares, but perhaps not the multiplayer mode. Well Monolith Studios wants to make you take a second look at the game’s multiplayer mode with the newly revealed Soul Survivor match type.

The Soul Survivor match type seems to be a survival type mode where one player will be corrupted at the beginning of a round and will have to eliminate the other three players to win. The match starts one on three, but every person that the corrupted manages to kill, becomes a corrupted themselves. Meaning that the balance of power can easily shift to two on two and finally three on one. Unfortunately it seems like having only four players to a lobby for this game mode does seem a little sparse. Catch a video of the mode in action below.

NVIDIA’s products are now availabe on Origin laptops.  This 3D Vision ready item is about to make your PC gaming life much easier.  If you want to take a look at some of the laptops that Origin has available to purchase, check out the store here.  Unfortunately, Duke Nukem coming out of the screen and dropping of hot babes is not a part of the package, but at least you can play his video game with the computer.

I have got to say, my overheating, mainstream, HP laptop sure does not hold a candle to those beauties.  What do you think? Will you be getting one?  Let us know in the comments!

New information: Call of Duty Elite subscription model

Yesterday, it was revealed that Activision was implementing a subscription service in Modern Warfare 3. Today, even more details about this service have been announced.  To start off , Activision plans to make this service a new social network:

“The average Call of Duty player spends 58 minutes per day playing multiplayer. That is more than the average Facebook user spends per day on Facebook. And yet, right now, there are very few tools to unite and super charge that social community,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing. “Whether it’s allowing you to connect with your friends, or people of a similar skill level, people who live in your city, people who share your favourite passions, join competitive clans or social groups, or upload, view and comment on the incredible mass of player-generated content, or watch and comment on exclusive created content,Call of Duty Elite will give people more ways to connect with fellow players than ever before.”

The Elite service is said to offer two-way communication between it and the game, meaning that choices on the service’s website and various apps will transfer to the in-game experience. Some of the features that will be available on the website, mobile app, game consoles, and game interface are detailed below.

-As already stated, Call of Duty Elite is way to power up the social network beasts that rule the internet.  Hence, players will be able to  “compete against friends, players of similar skill levels and players with similar interests, join groups, join clans, and play in organised tournaments. They can also track the performance, progress and activity of their entire network, both in the game itself, as well as through mobile and web interfaces.  Elite will be an “always on” way for players to connect with the Call of Duty community.”

-Gamers who compete in various events, competitions and tournaments will be eligible to receive in-game and real world prizes.

-Bungie Pro like statistical tracking will be a part of the service, meaning that every kill, match and statistic will be available so that CoD fans have a tool to strategize and improve their FPS skills.

-“Free map packs” for a year will be included if you choose to pony up the dough.

-Other original programming is planned.  Stay tuned for E3, as more details will be announced then.

As mentioned yesterday, standard Call of Duty multiplayer will still be free of charge, excluding Xbox Live fees of course.  Many of Call of Duty Elite features will also be free.  However, “premium membership with a wide range of state-of-the-art services, exclusive entertainment programming and all-inclusive game content” will be an option for players who wish to pay.  No definitive pricing has been revealed, but it is has been said that pricing scheme will be less than other online entertainment options.  The cheapest Netflix plan is around $8/month.

A public beta to test the the service will be launched alongside Black Ops later this summer.  Sign ups for the beta are here.

In summary, Activision is looking to “supercharge” the Call of Duty online experience with some interesting ideas.  If your a hardcore player, this may be worth your money.  For gamers who transfer to a new game every month, this service may not the service your looking for.
