Dead Island digital comic prequel available online

Curious about what life was like on the resort island of Banoi before it was infested with zombies and people were dying everywhere? Well Marvel Comics just revealed the prequel comic for Dead Island, and you can read it at their website here. Unfortunately the comic is quite short and also provides a small profile for each of the characters.

The comic was created by Marvel Custom Solutions’ writer William Dailey and drawn by artists Jorge Lucas, Juan Santacruz, Diego Olmos, Carlos Rodriguez and Sergio Arino, with the cover art you see to the right drawn by Christian Nauck. This is a great little feature to satsify your appetite for everything Dead Island related before the game is released on September 6th on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Gamestop recompensate customers over removed vouchers

Gamestop have made good on their promise to recompensate customers over the removal of Online vouchers that came with the PC version of the epic new addition to the Deus Ex franchise. Any customer who purchased the game is now entitled to a $50 Gamestop gift voucher as well as a coupon for a free used game when they purchase two others. According to Joystiq the finer details of the terms and conditions were set out to customers in an email apologising for the mistake and making them aware that the reason they removed the vouchers was because they contained an offer from a rival retailer.

The vouchers inside the games sold through Gamestop allowed the purchaser  a free online copy of the game through a rival service, OnLive. Upon becoming aware of this Gamestop staff in the US were ordered to remove all vouchers from copies before they could be sold. Even though Square Enix stand behind Gamestop in their decision the retailer themselves took it upon themselves to recompensate their loyal customer base.

Square Enix had this to say on the matter; “Gamestop was not made aware of this inclusion and Square Enix respects the right of Gamestop to have final say over the contents of products it sells and to adjust them where they see fit in accordance with their policies.” Gamestop have made Deus Ex Human Revolution available through their Impulse online service which they recently acquired.

Zoe Payne- A SSX trailer

EA has just released a new SSX trailer detailing one of the characters that will be in the game: Zoe Payne. Formerly a dirt racing champ, Zoe has switched to the snowy mountains of the world to be a snowboard/extreme sports player. In this video though, we get a look at Zoe’s former world in the racing arena. With a unique comic book style, it is certainly interesting to watch, but it is a little disappointing that there is no snowboarding or gameplay shown off. If you want more character videos, check out EA’s Facebook page here. The new SSX launches in January of 2012.

Spiderman: Edge of Time Behind the Voice Acting video

Spiderman: Edge of Time is releasing on October 3, 2011 for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and Activision has released a new video with a voice actor from the game telling us how the story lays out and what we can expect. Turns out, the game involves time travel (ZOMG!) and 2 very different Spiderman. All in all, their personalities and clashes in the storyline may actually provide the spark that will send this game up to the top of the rating charts, but only time will tell. Are you looking foward to playing with the Spiderman of the future and the Spiderman of of today? Which is your favorite: 2099 or Amazing? Let us know in the comments below.

Haunted: Hell’s Reach to be published by THQ, PC version in October, XBLA and PSN in 2012

As I’ve said before, the amount of horror games that are available on the digital market on consoles is pathetically small. Besides the Amy title set for release later this year, horror and survival horror are genres that usually always are left by the wayside. But it seems that Haunted: Hell’s Reach will be making it to not only consoles but also a PC version.

THQ has decided to help out The Haunted: Hell’s Reach’s developers by publishing the title on the PC later this year and on the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network early next year. You can check out the trailer for the title below, and the PC version of the game for $20 when it is released in October to stores and through digital download.

Kevin Butler returns with Long Live Play PlayStation campaign

Despite a supposed resignation from the company, we all knew that Sony’s go-to-guy for advertisement and public relation Kevin Butler wouldn’t be staying away for long. As you can see in the below video, it seems selling carpeting just wasn’t exciting enough to keep Kevin for longer than a few days, as Sony launches their new motto, “Long Live Play” which sounds absolutely terrible.

The new motto can be seen below, on fire, after Kevin Butler shot it with a flaming crossbow. Let’s just hope that future advertisements will be just as awesome as this one was. Though hopefully they will do something about that new motto. What do you think about it? Is it better than their previous motto of “It Only Does Everything”?

World Heroes and Shock Troopers coming to PSN

The third set of Neo Geo Station games is now available on the Playstation Store. Shock Troopers and World Heroes are the latest titles available. Both retro games will be 8.99 on the PS3 and 6.99 on the PSP.

Shock Troopers is in the run and shoot genre, allowing you to play through the game in single player or with 3 other soldiers.

In World Heroes, you can choose between 8 characters to fight in normal and death match modes.

SNK Playmore has also released other Neo Geo titles like Baseball Stars and a few games from the KOF series onto Playstation Store, in addition to several other classics.

Centipede: Infestation – New Screens!

An infestation has occurred. Mutated centipedes are on the loose with a highly destructive attitude diminishing the world to a barren wasteland. Max, the heroic bug slaying champion, must defend Maisy’s garden to regenerate a dying world.

These new screens are pretty messy. If you don’t like goo all over the place, I… cannot protect you. The screenshots show awesome insectoid demolition! With insect parts flying everywhere accompanied with splashes of goo, Centipede: Infestation looks like decapitating good time.

We also get a chance to see the variety of enemies. Scorpions, beetles, and other creepy crawly monstrosities make their way to the battlefront preventing Maisy from breathing life back to the world. Might as well just STOMP the beasties!

The Gunstringer demo sneaks on to Xbox Live Marketplace

If you were expecting to see Twisted Pixel’s The Gunstringer on the Xbox Live Marketplace as a demo then you are probably psychic because the company never said that a demo of their title would be released, nor was there any fanfare today when it did get released besides a small tweet from Dan Teasdale. But sure enough, if you load up your Xbox 360 and check out the demos section you will be able to find The Gunstringer.

Of course playing the demo requires a Kinect, and players will be able to see just how good the game works as they play through a small section of the title to provide a taste of what players should expect when the full game comes out later this year. You can add the demo to your download queue here, though you currently have to be a Gold subscriber to download it.
