Konami announces new Suikoden title for PSP at Tokyo Game Show

The media only days are over and the public days have begun. Journalists begin to leave thinking that all has been done. But low and behold a surprise announcement is made by none other than Konami. During the first public day of Tokyo Game Show, Konami revealed that they are working on a new game for the Suikoden RPG series of games.

The title is currently being called Genso Suikoden Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki and is being made for the PlayStation Portable. The company made this announcement on tri-Ace’s stage event and shortly after announcing the game, they released the below teaser trailer on the game’s website. But you can also check out the trailer below which will certainly make any fan of the Suikoden series hope that this game will be localized for Western release eventually.

Mass Effect 3: Hands on

Mass Effect 3 is shaping up to be one of the biggest RPG releases of this generation, who would have thought it’s humble beginnings in the 360’s life cycle would come to this? This is mainly thanks to the second game, as you probably know, it evolved quite abit from the original and has set up a highly polished engine for the final chapter. As such, the third game doesn’t seem like it’s been changed too much, which isn’t exactly a bad thing. The tweaks are subtle, but they made the experience feel all the more polished and enjoyable.

me3-2011

The mission I played was basically a race against time, Shepard was trying to save a female Krogan, which if you’ve played the old games you’ll know female krogans are very rare as the race has almost been wiped out. The Cerebus were trying to stop Shepard and Wrex basically wants to get laid and produce babies to save he’s race, Wrex is relying on Shepard to set this up for him. It was interesting as it gives away abit of the story, but it’s not really a spoiler. It’s also worth noting that while in combat, the characters seemed to interact alot more with each other according to what was going on around them.

The build I played was a little choppy, but highly detailed and gorgeous. Considering how long until it comes out, it’s understandable if the build wasn’t perfect. One of the first things I noticed was the changes in melee, Shepard can now melee with combos and it seems they were made to encourage more of it. Especially if you’re playing on hardcore, like we were, where melee is sometimes really needed when you’re out of cover. The cover system has changed a little too, arrows now appear according to the way Shepard leans, it’s a little change but it makes sense. In Mass Effect 2 sometimes it was a little confusing and before you knew it, Shepard was jumping over a ledge you didn’t want him/her to.

The UI changes were across the board, from the general look and feel to the overhaul of the weapon menu. Weapons are now viewed/swapped on a bench with a top-down view, it looked pretty cool and alot better than ME2 customisation. I got the impression that the item customisation is going to be abit more complex this time around. Mass effect 3 was probably was one of the best games I got to play on the day, and like alot of other people, I can’t wait til it comes out.

PlayStation Vita will be region-free

1

One of the biggest questions that people can have about a video game system is whether or not it is going to be region free. A few regions don’t get the same games as others, and a large amount of games never are even released out of Japan which disappoints some gamers as, although the language may be in Japanese they still want to be able to play the game without purchasing a Japanese Vita.

Well there is no need to worry as Sony Computer Entertainment president of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida responded to a question on his twitter account concerning whether or not the PlayStation Vita would be region locked. To this Shuhei tweeted a simple “Yes, it is.” This means that for those unable to wait to play the Vita, they can purchase it from Japan and have it shipped overseas when it is released on December 17th in Japan rather than wait around like chumps for it to be released in the West.

Batman Arkham City: New gadgets and new villians

Batman Arkham City is only one month away. Read that sentence again. ONE. MONTH. AWAY! GTTV recently revealed that this time around, the Man Bat will have at least two new gadgets to fight with. In addition, there was a reveal of one more new villain to take down.

The Remote Electrical Charge can power up items, create electrical fields, stun baddies and more. Of course, having “remote” in its name means you can throw it down (or shoot it out) and then activate it when you please.

The Freeze Blast will allow you stun enemies, create platforms in water and hold several criminals at once in a freeze state.

The new villain revealed is named Deadshot. He is assassinating powerful people throughout the game world, and it is up the man in the costume to bring him to justice!

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy – A representative demo from TGS

Square Enix is showing off a demo of Bravely Default at TGS 2011 that represents what the full game will be like. Using some very spiffy AR tech to create interesting gameplay, we are very impressed by the performance of the game. Hopefully this demo or the full game will be available to play with soon, as it truly is spectacular. If you ever get a chance to play this demo, you will need an AR card of the main character. Use the image above if need be.

Be sure to leave a comment leaving your thoughts down below. What other uses of AR tech would you like to see implemented?

Is Transfarring for MGS HD only coming to Japan?

When Hideo Kojima had a special segment at Konami’s E3 conference, we were ecstatic. When he announced Transfarring, a way to continue your PS3 games on the road with the Vita, we were even happier. However, there are dark cloud forming over our heads now. An information packet from TGS has recently revealed that the PS3 HD edition of MGS: Peace Walker may only inlcude Transfarring IF the game is purchased and used in in Japan.

Hopefully, this nasty little fact will turn out to be a misunderstanding. Also, let us pray that it does not affect any other Vita/PS3 games that have the Transfarring feature.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss – A TGS 2011 demo

All right, so Sony may have announced some rather dismal news about the PS Vita, and their consumer actions otherwise this week have been less than great, but the following video, running us through a demo of the Uncharted Vita game has made us Sony fans once again, at least for the 10 minutes that it plays.

This portable Uncharted experience looks great so far. The game’s director and writer shows us how good the graphics are, what the gameplay will be like and even some of Drake’s new items. Spoiler: It looks great so far! Now if the rest of Sony’s announcements could just be this good, we would be happy.
