Shigeru Miyamoto’s thoughts on PSVITA

This past weekend while promoting the Nintendo 3DS in Paris, Shigeru Miyamoto, the Father of Gaming himself, sat down for an interview with EDGE Online, during which he gave his thoughts on rival company Sony’s latest handheld offering.

When asked what his overall thoughts on Sony’s PS Vita, in classic Miyamoto fashion, his response was both respectful and decidedly honest:, “It’s obviously a very hi-spec machine, and you can do lots of things with it, but I don’t really see the combination of software and hardware that really makes a very strong product.”

He went on to paint a more hopeful picture for Sony’s console’s future and drew some parallels to the launch of the Nintendo 3DS, “When we launched the 3DS hardware we didn’t have Super Mario 3D Land, we didn’t have Mario Kart 7, we didn’t have Kid Icarus: Uprising, we were striving to have all of these ready for the launch, but we weren’t able to deliver them at that time. We were kind of hoping that people would, nevertheless, buy into the product, find 3DS hardware promising, but looking back we have to say we realise the key software was missing when we launched the hardware.”

Miyamoto himself does believe that the PS Vita, which is currently being outsold by the PSP, PS3 and even PS2 in Japan, can make an impact. All it needs is some good games to support it’s good hardware.

What do you think of what Miyamoto had to say about the PS Vita? Is he right? Is he wrong? Sound off in the comments section below letting us know your thoughts.

Kirby’s Pinball Land Rated for the Virtual Console

If you love Kirby spin-offs as much as we do, then you should take notice as the blab-tastic Australian Classification Board has leaked a rating for the classic Game Boy title, citing a future Virtual Console release for the eShop.

I still go back to my old cartridge from time to time with Kirby’s Pinball Land, as the tables and simplified and all inspired by the main platforming franchise, with plenty of bosses and characters mixed in that reek of that Kirby charm. Since the Australian Classification Board have let the cat out of the bag, it’s not really a matter of if, but when we will see our lovable pinball port on the eShop. Once Nintendo decide to make an announcement on a date, we will bring out an update so stay tuned.

South Park: The Stick of Truth is the new name of the South Park RPG

While trying to market a game simply as South Park: The Game or South Park RPG may be a decent way to sell a game, having an official name is always better and it seems that Obsidian’s little title may have finally received its own. A listing has appeared for the South Park Game on the Xbox Live Marketplace and it features a brand new name for the game as well as some box art.

The new name of the game appears to be South Park: The Stick of Truth though neither Obsidian nor THQ have made any official statement or announcement about this name change so this can be seen as a rather possible rumor at the moment. Stay tuned this upcoming week and keep an eye out for a possible confirmation from either company.

This Perfect Strangers flash game is Amazing

If you grew up in the 90’s, then there is a good chance you would remember a sitcom by the name of Perfect Strangers. Yes, this series was born in the glory days of TGIF, spawning a spinoff later that would go on to be one of the most popular shows of all time (Family Matters). A new campaign has been launched to promote the entire series of hitting iTunes this week, and in that campaign is an amazing flash game you must see to believe.

The website is labeled nothingsgonnastopmenow.com, which is of course the main lyrics to that infectious theme song that arguably made the show such a hit. After selecting a dream to follow, all you then have to do is control everybody’s favorite immigrant, Balki Bartokomous, as he runs and flies to achieve his goal. Aside from collecting stars and jumping over sheep, this little romp is jam-packed full of sugar-coated nostalgia for the fans, which makes it worth checking out again and again. Now, go. Kill some minutes and check this game out at once. Tell them Cousin Larry sent you.

Orgarhythm coming to the PlayStation Vita in North America courtesy of XSEED

The PlayStation Vita’s release line-up has been rather stale lately and even the rest of 2012 has some slim pickings as far as games go but it seems at least one company wants to make sure that everyone who has a PlayStation Vita is going to be picking up a few more games before the year is up.

Yesterday we reported that XSEED will be bringing Ragnarok Odyssey over to North American Vitas sometime later this year and today we have learned that they will also be bringing the rhythm-strategy game, Orgarhythm, over to Vitas sometime later this year.

Players will be controlling the “God of Light” and will doing battle against the “God of Darkness” by commanding armies of elemental soldiers. The beat of the music will affect how strong your units attack and will also change depending on your circumstances in battle. You can see a bit of gameplay footage in the rather strange trailer below as well as a number of in-game screenshots.
