CRITERION GAMES REINVENTS BEST-SELLING

NEED FOR SPEED MOST WANTEDCritically-Acclaimed Studio Injects Unique Attitude, Passion For Open World Racing And Award-Winning Quality To Deliver A Revolution In Social Competition

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – June 4, 2012 – Do you have what it takes to become Most Wanted? Today, at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) announced that Criterion Games is reimagining Need for Speed™ Most Wanted – a franchise fan favorite and the bestselling Need for Speed game in the series. Designed for a new, more connected generation of racing fans, Need for Speed Most Wanted offers players an expansive open world packed with exhilarating action where they can choose their own path to become the Most Wanted. Players will have the freedom to drive anywhere, discover hidden gameplay, takedown rivals, challenge friends or just hang out and toy with the cops. Everything they do counts towards the end goal of becoming #1 on their personal Most Wanted List. Need for Speed Most Wanted will give players the freedom to race their own way when the game ships October 30, 2012. A special limited edition pack featuring double speed points, custom liveries, pre-customized rollouts and two vehicles: the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale and Porsche 911 Carrera S will also ship on October 30, 2012.

“Criterion is shaking up the franchise with Need for Speed Most Wanted,” said Matt Webster, Executive Producer at Criterion Games. “This is Most Wanted for a new generation of players. We’ve brought everything we know about racing, chasing and exploration and smashed them together in a highly connected open world automotive experience. Whether driving solo or racing with friends in our amazing new multiplayer experience, Autolog fires up competition out of everything as players compete to be most wanted amongst their friends.”

The only rule in Need for Speed Most Wanted is to race without rules. There’s a start and a finish to every race – but how the player races, where and when they choose to compete, and the skills they choose to compete with – are all up to the player. It isn’t enough to be the Most Wanted amongst rivals and cops. Now players will fight for ultimate bragging rights amongst their friends thanks to Autolog. As the original inventors of the ground-breaking, friend-connecting Autolog technology, Criterion establishes once again a new standard in social competition by recommending gameplay challenges across a players’ social network within both single player and multiplayer game play. In Need for Speed Most Wanted, everything players do will earn Speed Points that will take them up the Most Wanted list – from competing for best race times and battling cops in pursuits for the highest scores, to catching the most air off a huge ramp and more. Autolog 2 keeps intense competition at the heart of the experience – if there’s something to do, there’s someone to beat. And for the first time, Autolog recommendations extend to enhance the multiplayer experience within Need for Speed Most Wanted. With no lobbies or wait times, gamers will seamlessly enter an online world and immediately receive a rapid-fire delivery of Speed and Skill Tests. Autolog 2 will make recommendations to players to help finesse their racing prowess, further fuelling endless competition and hours of entertainment.

Need for Speed Most Wanted will be available October 30, 2012 in North America and November 1, 2012 in Europe for the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, PlayStation®Vita handheld entertainment system, PC, iOS and Android™. EA Reveal Madden NFL 13 Details with Michael Irvin

During their E3 Press Conference, EA had a little help explaining some of Madden NFL 13‘s impressive new features.

To properly explain the new Connect Careers campaign made, NFL star Michael Irvin joined the stage to explain what it’s like to build NFL career. With a new ‘fake’ Twitter feed to help push the story as well as various social interactions with mobile and tablot devices as well to provide deep gameplay progression. With all this and many new RPG elements, Madden NFL 13 provides a perfect simulation of what it’s really like to build a career in the NFL.

However the biggest new addition happens to be the use of the infinite engine. This means ever collision will effect balance and performance. This means no pre determined out comes and players can now regain balance after contact.

Madden NFL 13 will be available August 28. For more, check out the presentation yourself in the video below!

Crysis 3 E3 EA Conference Details

Earlier today EA showed off the upcoming Crysis game, Crysis 3 at their E3 conference. Unfortunately for the developers, it doesn’t look like too much has changed between installments and this is evident in what looks like a very similar engine to that which was running Crysis 2.

The game features the protagonist from Crysis 2 returning to a jungle environment and taking on some bad guys. The game will also feature 7 distinguishable locations, known as the Seven Wonders. The most talked about innovation with the series, however, is that the main character uses a crossbow. They have been really pushing that weapon.

The game is set for a February 2013 release.

E3 2012 Multiplayer Gameplay Trailer for Medal of Honor Warfighter Revealed

Earlier, we seen a bit of the campaign for a certain top-selling shooter. Of course, campaign is not the reason FPS titles are so successful, and EA want to make sure you know what they are bringing to the table with Medal of Honor Warfighter. A new trailer was shown at E3, which shows off the multiplayer mode that has the US SFOD-D, NAVY SEALs, US OGA, Polish GROM, Australian SASR and Canadian JTF2 all duke it out to prove who is the best of the best.

That Frostbyte 2 engine looks beautiful with Medal of Honor, and it looks like this franchise is finally ready to take the lead yet again. Let’s also hope that there isn’t a ton of online restrictions for the game as well, but this is EA so most of you know what you’re getting from the start with the more modern MoH anyway. Check out the Linkin Parkified trailer below and stay tuned, as there is sure to be more updates to come.

Medal of Honor Warfighter launches October 23rd for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

Star Wars The Old Republic E3 EA Conference Details

During EA’s massive E3 conference earlier today, developer Bioware showed off some new content coming to Star Wars The Old Republic later this year. For those of you who don’t know, Star Wars the Old Republic is EA’s massive Star Wars MMORPG set in the Old Republic Era of the meta-universe. Most of this content has been previously announced as part of the 1.3 update, but here is a general rundown of what to expect.

There will be a plethora of new content coming to Star Wars The Old Republic later this year and much of it will be cool. There will be new warzones, more higher level content like raids and daily quests, new companions to aid you in your quest, new species to choose from (and hopefully new legacy abilities to go with them), ranked PvP, character transfers as well as a new explorable planet with it’s own questlines and other content. The session also showed off some space-combat, which might have been a hidden announcement for more space missions.

Be sure to stay tuned for more info as it comes.

Sim City Social Announced by EA; Coming to Facebook

EA named quite a few titles during their E3 press event, but Sim City Social is one that is sure to attract the attention of all the Facebook crowd. This title will take the main elements of the hit franchise, and socialize them completely by letting users build their own town with a little help from their friends.

I think we all know the drill on how this game will work, as almost everyone has experienced or at least seen Cityville and similar titles, but Maxis have been the matriarch of the genre since it’s early days, so Sim City Social is sure to blow Zynga’s efforts out of the water. As you can see by the slogan above, war has began in the Facebook market yet again, and the battle for the dollar is now on!

EA Announces Partnership with UFC

Amongst many sports-related announcements during EA Games’ E3 Press Conference but one in particular that stood out was EA announcing they have made a partnership with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)  is a mixed martial arts fighting league that is not just the fastest growing sport in America, but now the fastest growing sport in the world. UFC is now stranger to video games though, as it did used to have a partnership with THQ prior to EA Sports.

EA Sports’ upcoming UFC title is currently in development. Make sure to check out the trailer featured below!

Battlefield 3 E3 EA Conference Details

During EAs E3 conference, it was announced that a few new things will be making their way to the Battlefield 3 playerbase soon. These things may come as a bit of a shock to gamers and may also seem a little off putting to some, considering it requires gamers to cough up money to access these services.

The first service I want to talk about is EA’s Battlefield 3 Premium service. This service, to be honest, feels a lot like the Call of Duty premium service that Activision was pushing over it’s CoD playerbases earlier. In EA’s version of the service, players will be able to purchase content for their Battlefield 3 accounts, as well as access expansion packs a full two weeks before anyone else. Is this worth a fee? It’s up to you, the players to decide.

The second thing I want to talk about are the expansion packs, of which there are 5, one of which has already been released. They have already began development (and likely nearly completed it too) on these expansion packs, which are going to be tiered to release around each other. Now I’m not saying that this is a milking of the franchise or a cashgrab by EA on one of their largest multiplayer games ever. But I will say that gamers should be wary of these practices and that if they support them, then they will be continuing.

The Expansion packs are named thus –

  • Close Quarters
  • Aftermath
  • End Game
  • Armoured Kill
  • Back to Karkand

Also coming to the franchise in the future are new game modes and customisations. These are likely to be available on the new Battlefield 3 Premium service.
