Here is some odd news for ya. Nintendo recently announced two new colors for the Nintendo DSi. Yes, you heard that right…the DSi. The aging yet still kicking platform will be seeing matte blue and red versions released as soon as this week.
I love choice, so I am down for more colors and I kind of commend Nintendo in keeping their famed line alive. If this shows us anything, it’s that the Nintendo DSi is still a seller and will probably sell even more due to these new colors, especially heading into the holiday season where the sales will be everywhere on the now classic portable.
This Friday, which will be the third of August, will see the latest release of the classic series, Death Rally, coming to Steam. With this news also comes a great new trailer, which is the third part of the ‘How do you prepare’ webseries featuring the game.
For those of you who don’t know about Death Rally, this latest game is the latest in the Death Rally series of games. The series debuted on the PC back in the early 90s and has seen a few other iterations since, such as the iOS and Android versions of the game. This release marks the return of the explosive series to it’s PC roots.

The Monument Builders series is growing. Anuman Interactive has announced that a third title in the series is slated for a summer release for PC, Mac, and iOS. Anuman Interactive’s Marketing Director Eric Nguyen says that “Since the release of the first title in this series, the “Monument Builders” collection has quickly found a fan base. Players enjoy time management games in general, and this is especially true for games from the Big Fish Games platform. With the success of the first two titles in mind, we wanted to develop this collection further with new titles featuring the construction sites of other famous monuments.” The latest iteration will allow players to build the icon of American freedom, the Statue of Liberty. The game will be co-published by Big Fish Games and Anuman Interactive’s casual gaming label, Microïds – Games For All.In celebration of the announcement, Anuman Interactive has released a trailer for the Monument Builders collection.
2012 is the 50th anniversary year of the James Bond film series. For half a century Ian Fleming’s 007 has occupied a huge space in the movie industry and pop culture, constantly evolving with every new actor cast – the reveal of the next James Bond is an event in itself.
After something of a misstep with Quantum of Solace four years ago there is work to be done to restore faith in Daniel Craig’s version of the character. Thankfully Skyfall will not be continuing the story that Casino Royale began back in 2006, and the director and cast involved are more than enough to sell this latest entry in the series.
Javier Bardem takes on the mantle of Skyfall’s villain, and is finally revealed in todays new international trailer. Anyone who has seen the Coen Brothers’ No Country for Old Men is more than aware of what this man can do with a villain, so his reveal in this trailer is something of a highlight, especially given his seeming penchant for stellar performances of characters with shall we say, unique hairstyles.
Also featured are Ralph Fiennes and fellow Brit actor Ben Whishaw as gadget expert Q, who has not appeared since Pierce Brosnan’s days in the titular role. Of course the character was played by Monty Python legend John Cleese, so no doubt Whishaw’s portrayal will take on a completely new angle.
The biggest sell for Skyfall however is Sam Mendes, the British director behind American Beauty, Revolutionary Road and Road to Perdition. Today’s trailer is chock full of potential plot detail gold, so make sure and discover it for yourself above.
In what is quickly becoming an all too common occurrence, Sentai Filmworks has announced that they will be dropping the Japanese voice track from their Blu-ray release of Persona 4: The Animation. This means that the Blu-ray version of the anime will only feature the English dub and will be sold at a $10 discount for $59.98, though it is interesting to note that the DVD version seems to be unchanged.
Before you go laying the blame on Sentai Filmworks for this one, it turns out it was the Japanese license holder who forced Sentai to make the change. This is obviously due to the xenophobic reverse importation fears that have been growing at a ridiculous rate for Japanese anime companies.
Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts 3D, also known by its much more complicated name Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, has hit store shelves today and with it comes a launch trailer similar to the one that was released back when the game hit shelves in PAL regions.
Kingdom Hearts 3D features not only Sora as the main protagonist but also Riku as they take the fight to the dream eaters with new flowmotion combat and attacks. Along the way they’ll meet new types of dream eater and even spirits which will help them fight against the nightmares. Players will also be able to experience a number of new worlds such as Pinocchio, Fantasia and TRON.
That PlayStation Plus membership you have is about to pay off in a big way, because there will be two games… well episodes of a game, available to anyone who is a PS Plus member on August 7th. On this date the first two episodes of Telltale’s The Walking Dead will be made available for free.
As you may know, these are the first two episodes of a five episode series and both of these episodes have been given glowing reviews from both us and others. It is worth noting that every other episode in the series, once they are released, will cost an additional $4.99. Of course this does mean that at the moment you’ll only have to pay $14.99 if you end up getting the first two episodes.
If you thought that the 3DS XL was going to be dead on arrival well you won’t have to worry about that happening in the Japanese market at least. The sales data for the weekend of the 3DS XL’s launch list the upsized handheld selling 193, 441 units in only two days.
This is about twice the amount that Nintendo saw during the same time-frame with their DSi XL. Of course it probably helps that the release of New Super Mario Bros. 2 was released alongside the 3DS XL, so this probably helped boost sales at least a little bit, as those who didn’t have a 3DS at that point may as well get the XL version to play NSMB2 on.
The runaway train that is the OUYA has gained another passenger, further accelerating the currently unreleased android-based console towards either great success or the most stupendous failure in recent years. Today Square Enix has announced that they will be the first major publisher to come out and support the OUYA.
They will be doing it with one of their biggest franchises, Final Fantasy and this time around it is Final Fantasy III getting the port. It is worth noting that FFIII is already available for a number of platforms including the iOS and Android system, so in the end this isn’t too much of a stretch.
