If you aren’t sure yet if you’ll like the recently released game, Sleeping Dogs, then you are in luck. You could either go undercover and watch videos of Sleeping Dogs or you could just download the demo that released on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network today. The demo arrived earlier today but if you live in North America and have a PlayStation 3, you were able to download the demo yesterday before everyone else.
The demo includes a look at the “brutal martial arts combat, exhilarating free-running, and intense gunfights offered by Sleeping Dogs” a statement that would be incredibly shocking if you didn’t know that was the title of a video game.
If you are still unsure on how you feel about the game even after you’ve played the demo then you can check out our review for the game which will be release in the next couple of days.
As the company begins to make its holiday hardware push, Microsoft has announced, by way of Major Nelson, that the Kinect will be getting a permanent price reduction.
The Kinect originally launched at the asking price of $149 so it made it a little hard for some conservative gamers to purchase it but, Microsoft has lowered the price to $109 which is a little more reasonable. The price drop will take affect immediately.
As some of you may remember though, Kinect went through a timed price drop last holiday season in which you were able to pick that and three games up for only $100. In other words, you might want to wait and see what Microsoft has up their sleeves for this upcoming holiday season.
If you ever thought that damn, you love bowling and you love anime but absolutely no one has ever made a game that combines two of your favorite past times then you will certainly be wanting to check out the below gameplay trailer and screenshots released by Aksys Games for their upcoming title Crazy Strike Bowling.
In Crazy Strike Bowling, players can select between six different characters and bowl in many different locations like Egypt and Japan. The characters can be customized with different outfits that will be unlocked the longer you play. It is worth noting though that a PlayStation Move is required to play the title, though if you get some friends together you’ll also be able to play four player matches.

But what will you do if we tell you that Borderlands 2 has been given a demade browser game that allows you to take on waves of foes as each member of the Borderlands 2.
The demake is available here for play and is part of the Borderlands 2 marketing campaign. Before you get too excited, the game is a top down 16-bit shooter, though you can definitely spend quite some time blasting away at memorable Borderlands enemies.
Bethesda released some new screenshots today for their upcoming game, Dishonored. It seems that in a steampunk future people just start to dress extremely weird and fashion masks out of any creepy thing they find laying around. But moving on, six new images of Dishonored have been released and can be seen below.
If anything can be taken away from these images, its the fact that the game is absolutely beautiful looking with plenty of style. Those eager to play the title still have a little bit longer to wait as the game is meant to be released on October 9th on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360
Today XSEED Games revealed that they will be releasing a special edition version of Ragnarok Odyssey once it is released in October. This special edition will be called the “Mercenary Edition” and will run for $50, only $10 more than the game’s standard release price of $40.

Anyone who has played Persona 4 would probably be running for the hills seeing the above statement from these girls, but there is more pressing news to talk about. It seems that European gamers are going to have to wait a bit before they get a chance to play Persona 4 Arena. That region’s publisher, Zen United, made a statement on the Persona series’ European Facebook page stating that they have experienced delays outside of their control.
The full statement can be found below:
There are currently a number of issues surrounding development and subsequent release of Persona 4 Arena in Europe. As we are not directly involved in the development process for P4A, these are elements which are beyond our control. We are however, doing everything we can to help resolve this, so that we can get the game into stores and, crucially, into your hands as quickly as possible.
We do understand your frustration and a need for a concrete release date, however, until we can ascertain exactly what that release period will be we are hesitant to do so. We would rather have all the facts about release to hand, and all issues be resolved, before making such an announcement.
Please be assured that as soon as WE know what the release date will be, YOU will be the first to know.
Any dates you see online are purely speculation. The first announcement of a release date will happen on the Persona Europe FB page and the Persona 4 FB page. We will then notify our contacts in the main Fighting Game Communities around Europe. If you have not seen a confirmed release date on this page, then it is best taken as a rumour.
Please also be aware, any events that are taking place around Europe will not disrupt the process of releasing them game. Given that these issues have arisen, the team here are making a concerted effort to support the community by having payable builds at your events while you await release. I know many of you are eager to play P4A, and we will facilitate that as best we can in the interim.
It is worth noting that thanks to Persona 4 Arena being region locked on both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, European gamers cannot even import the title if they desperately want to play it. Until then, they can go ahead and read my review for the game here.
Moonspider Studio has announced that its debut game will be a puzzle, racing, platformer titled Harold. Planned for consoles and PC next year, Harold puts players in the role of an angel looking out for Harold as he attempts to beat the odds and win races. Beating in the odds in that Harold is a pretty lackluster athlete. With his guardian angel though, Harold should be able to meander his way to the finish line, maybe even in first place should something happen to all those other racers too.
Moonspider Studio itself is a new game company that has plenty of years of experience, with individuals that have worked for Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks, and Studio Ghibli to name a few, having worked on Aladdin, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Princess Mononoke. With all of that experience they hope to make Harold an amazingly visually stunning game.
With no release date other than next year and no specifics as to which consoles, Harold will be making its first public appearance at PAX Prime. Until then players can check out the gallery below of some screenshots from the game.
Anyone who is a PC gamer probably knows Ubisoft and the numerous problems the company has with the PC market, what with crippling DRM restrictions and almost predictable PC version delay. Well it seems that Ubisoft’s CEO would rather just switch to a F2P market now because he thinks practically everyone who has a PC just pirates the hell out of everything.
In a response to Eurogamer, he stated the following:
“The advantage of F2P is that we can get revenue from countries where we couldn’t previously — places where our products were played but not bought. Now with F2P we gain revenue, which helps brands last longer. It’s a way to get closer to your customers, to make sure you have a revenue. On PC it’s only around 5-7% of the players who pay for F2P, but normally on PC it’s only about 5-7% who pay anyway, the rest is pirated.
It’s around a 93-95% piracy rate, so it ends up at about the same percentage. The revenue we get from the people who play is more long term, so we can continue to bring content.”
Well there you have it, Yves Guillemot’s completely infallible (made-up with zero evidence) statistics saying nearly everyone on the PC pirates their PC games despite the outrageous DRM Ubisoft levies on their games. Good stuff.
Next month on September 1st Square Enix is planning to reveal some “new information about the direction of Lightning’s story.” It is worth noting that the last time that players saw Lightning was in the Final Fantasy XIII-2 DLC “Requiem of the Goddess.” However, while many thought this was a conclusion to her story, it seems that Lightning’s story may be continuing.
Currently it is unknown whether this announcement will pertain to a brand new game of some sort, such as Final Fantasy XIII-3 or Final Fantasy Lightning, but today the company launched a teaser website which can be found here, explaining a little about the “Lightning Saga.”
