Shantae returns in Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse

Huge news, Shantae fans! Today, new images have surfaced from the recent issue of Nintendo Power about our beloved genie, and those images are for an upcoming sequel by the name of Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse. This title will be for the 3DS’ eShop service, following 2010’s mega hit of Shantae: Risky’s Revenge.

So what’s the story? Shantae is now a human, as her powers have been stolen. Teaming up with Risky Boots, Shantae must set out to find the 30 Tinkerbats that stole her powers and save the world at the same time. Sounds wonderful. WayForward have turned Shantae into a gem to a franchise, and the future is brighter all around for that crazy little genie that was almost forgotten about just ten years ago. Stay tuned, as there is sure to be more news to come.

Tales Of Hearts R First Trailer Released

Namco Bandai has released the first trailer for Tales of Hearts R, an enhanced port of the 2008 Nintendo DS title Tales of Hearts for the Playstation Vita. The trailer shows off the 3D field and battle section, anime cutscenes (I guess the CGI cutscenes did not make the transition), voice acting for the characters and a brand new character called Calcedony Arkham. A Chase Link mode will also be included.

This will be the second port of a Tales game to the Playstation Vita. Earlier this year, Namco Bandai released Tales of Innocence R , a port of  Tales of Innocence, which was originally released for the Nintendo DS in 2007. It is interesting, then, that Tales of Hearts R is the second Tales DS game to be ported to the Playstation Vita. Tales of Hearts R will see a spring 2013 release in Japan.

The trailer can be seen below.

Medal Of Honor: Warfighter – The Hunt Map Pack

EA has just released a flyover trailer for the Medal of Honor: Warfighter – The Hunt Map Pack. The Hunt Map Pack is known in the U.S. as the Zero Dark Thirty Map Pack, to cross-promote Kathryn Bigelow’s upcoming film of the same name, of which the maps included in the pack are inspired by.

The pack includes the Darra Gun Market and Chitral maps; both are set in Pakistan, with Chitral being the Northern most region that borders both China and Afghanistan. Darra houses many gun machinists and back alley store-fronts, while the Chitral map features what many believed was one of multiple impenetrable compounds owned, and/or used, by Osama Bin Laden in his hiding. This DLC map pack is available to those who have purchased the Limited or Deluxe editions of Warfighter at no extra cost.

For those who bought the regular edition of Warfighter, the DLC will still become available to you the week of December 17th, to coincide with the release of Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty. It will cost $9.99 USD (800 Microsoft Points). For more incentive, a dollar from each map pack purchase will be donated to charity as part of EA and Sony’s Project Honor campaign.

LAGRANGE – The Flower of Rin-ne English dub preview trailer released

As many of you know, Viz Media acquired the license for Rinne no Lagrange when it aired earlier this year under the name LAGRANGE – The Flower of Rin-ne. We have heard little about the series since it was licensed but today Neon Alley has provided a trailer which has given us the first look at the English dub of the series.

The dub can be seen below and the show itself will premiere on Neon Alley at some point in January. As for a home video release, Viz Media has not provided a release window as of yet. It is also worth noting that Viz Media also acquired the rights to the second season of Rinne no Lagrange, so those of you intrigued by the video below can rest assured that more of the series will be coming in the future.

Guardians of Middle Earth Tutorial Series – Part 2 Battlegrounds

In Guardians of Middle-Earth, players can take on the role of one of over 20 iconic characters from the immensely popular franchise, Lord of the Rings. Up to 10 players can battle it out in intense competitive multiplayer arenas while forming unlikely alliances between hero and villain, with characters like Sauron, Gollum, Legolas and Gandalf being just a few of the available cast. The game itself, even though not yet released to the public has begun to unveil tutorial videos for those hoping to get the most out of their personal experience.

This particular iteration talks about the use of shrines in-game and the positive buffs that they provide for your team; also touching upon the powerful neutral creatures that inhabit each arena as well as how to effectively use the terrain to your advantage.

The next tutorial focuses on individual character classes and is due out shortly. A tie-in for the soon-to-be-released movie, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Guardians of Middle-Earth is available on December 4th 2012 in retail form (PS3 only) or digitally on the Playstation Network and Xbox Live.

PlayStation: The Official Magazine closing down

It seems that the saying “Print is dead” is becoming truer than ever. Today it was revealed, ironically by Game Informer, that PlayStation: The Official Magazine will stop being published after this holiday issue is released.

This marks the second console specific magazine to be canceled this year as a few months ago it was announced that Nintendo Power would be shut down as well. Interestingly enough, Nintendo Power’s final issue will be in December so both magazines will likely be released, and therefore shut down, within a few weeks of each other.

Learn how Injustice is different from Mortal Kombat in this dev diary

When it was announced that Injustice: Gods Among Us would be released by NetherRealm Studio a lot of people were wondering just how similar to Mortal Kombat the game will play. Well, it seems that the developers have taken it upon themselves to release a video explaining just how the game will control differently between their signature franchise.

As such, the company has released a developer diary which can be seen below which also contains a few segments of brand new gameplay footage. Currently Warner Brothers is targeting a release window of April 2013 for Injustice: Gods Among Us on the Wii U, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Mass Effect 3’s female Turians revealed for the first time

If you didn’t know already, EA is planning on releasing some Mass Effect 3 DLC in the form of Omega on November 27th for $15 or 1,200 MSP and some interesting images appeared online today thanks to All Games Beta. As you can see below and to the right, these are the first images of female Turians.

It is interesting to note that out of the multiple races contained in Mass Effect, this is the first time that Turian females have ever been shown. So perhaps the best choice for party members when you venture into Omega would be Garrus and Tali thanks to various interactions the two can have in the vanilla version of the game.

Halo 4 server issues plague launch

If you are one of the millions of people who went out and picked up a copy of Halo 4 today then you may be one of the millions of other players who are having issues connecting to the game’s multiplayer servers. A large number of users have begun complaining about a “server unavailable error,” which I myself am encountering, that prevents the player from reaching multiplayer matches.

Microsoft has stated that they are aware of the issue and that they are working on fixing these issues, but it is certainly unfortunate that many fans are unable to join games and play online with their friends.
