Xbox Live News with Pipper – November 15, 2012

Welcome one and all to Xbox Live News with Pipper. Sadly, it seems this month we tread further into the abyss of less than fantastic deals. Those that are dedicated to Black Ops 2 can find the season pass available. Although a special week of savings is approaching with Xbox Live 10 year anniversary, we might find little to reconcile. Let’s see what we have to work with.

Even more specials will plague Xbox Live, but will they satisfy their innate hunger? Kinect Central is not done dishing out deals for the month. From November 13th to November 19th, Sonic Free Riders will discounted but price will vary by region. Perhaps putting is more suitable for your tastes, yes? Tiger 13 – 11 Course Pack is discounted to 1600 MSP from November 20th to the 26th. Additionally, Xbox Live is having its 10th year anniversary on the 15th. All of the special deals will be located on the Xbox Live dashboard starting November 15th through November 22nd, but don’t be overly excited. Titles that you probably have purchased already might just be in these dealings (Castle Crashers, Fruit Ninja Kinect, Bastion, and Geometry Wars Evolved). They may be at 50% pricing, but that doesn’t exactly help if they are already on your hard drive.

I would like to personally thank everyone for tuning in again for another chapter of Xbox Live News with Pipper. Don’t burn your cash or slam your Xbox controller in the door because that is gaming abuse. So let’s be nice to our gaming companion, and always remember to “Play Hard or Don’t Play At All!”

Nisekoi to be released in English in Shonen Jump Alpha

Yesterday Hisashi Sasaki, the former editor-in-chief of Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine and current deputy director of the Shonen Manga Group revealed on Twitter that the popular, and relatively new, Japanese romantic comedy manga Nisekoi would be joining Viz Media’s Shonen Jump Alpha line-up.

The first English chapter of Nisekoi will be released in two weeks on the digital service. For those who don’t know, Nisekoi follows the story of Raku Ichijou who is the young heir to a yakuza group but tries to live a normal high school life. One day he is introduced to a beautiful but hot tempered and violent girl named Chitoge Kirisaki who transfers into his school and is told that she is actually his fiancée! Can these two manage to get along with one another despite their ill-suited personalities?

Telltale’s The Walking Dead Episode 5 brings the series to a close next week

Today Telltale Games revealed on Twitter that the final episode of their Walking Dead game series, “No Time Left” will be released next week on consoles as well as on the PC, Mac and iOS. PlayStation 3 owners will be able to see the finale sooner than everyone else when Episode 5 is released on November 20th in North America while everyone else (PC, Mac, iOS and 360 owners) will be able to download “No Time Left” on November 21st.

It is worth noting that Telltale has mentioned that while this episode may end the current story, there is a good chance that more Walking Dead themed adventures are still in the works. With the drama escalating each episode Episode 5 can guarantee an emotional finish to Lee and Clementine’s story.

One million copies of Black Ops 2 sold at GameStop on launch day

According to BusinessWeek Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has seen a record breaking launch day at GameStop. In fact the company announced today that over a million copies of Black Ops 2 were sold yesterday during the game’s launch, making it the biggest launch for the company ever. Tony Bartel, Gamestop’s President went on to tell Businessweek that he believes that the game will easily break sales records.

It is worth noting that last year, Modern Warfare 3 hit 6.5 million copies sold in the US and the UK in the first day, so it will be interesting to see how many Black Ops 2 managed to sell overall yesterday.

New party member announced for Tales of Hearts R

The latest issue of Jump Magazine has revealed a few more details for Namco Bandai’s Tales of Hearts R. As you can see in the scan to the right, as found by Game Jouhou, another new character will be added into the game in the form of Garad Grinas.

Garad Grinas will accompany the main character to put a stop to the Despir disease and often compares the female heroine, Kohaku to his daughter and this leads to a few emotional outbursts from the man throughout the game. Garad will use an axe and a machete in battle and will be able to use the newly added Cross Chase and Chase Finish mechanics in combat. If you wish to see a slightly larger version of the scan to the right, simply click the image.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light now playable on CoreOnline

Square Enix has added another game to it’s free gaming service CoreOnline and this title happens to be Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. If you happened to miss what CoreOnline is about, it is a service recently started by the company which allows gamers to play a few games through their browser as long as they watch a few advertisements first to earn a few hours of play time.

Other games available on the service at the moment are Hitman: Blood Money and Mini Ninjas and currently Tomb Raider Underworld and Gyromancer are in development for the service.

Grand Theft Auto V: Trailer #2 Released

The much anticipated, official, second trailer for Grand Theft Auto V has just been released and you can view it below!!

The nearly 2 minute long trailer, with Skeletons by Stevie Wonder playing in the background, shows some great cinematic action and cutscenes. The trailer also gives a great sneak peek at our three main protagonists and their differing lives/lifestyles, although we do already know that they share one commonality – a penchant for robbing banks!

Michael, the ex-gangster who has given that life up now for many years, is portrayed as the older (richer) family man. Franklin, the repo man who also works for a luxury car dealership, is shown as having some relationship issues, whilst Trevor…he just has issues. He is seen, among various other things such as lighting a house on fire and subsequently blowing it up, jumping off of a moving train as it heads towards a collision with another train! What would GTA be without a little crazy?

The trailer is awesome, action-packed and laced with humorous quips. “That’s Trevor, my best friend. And that’s Franklin, the son I always wanted.” Michael better be sarcastic when he says that! If you don’t watch the trailer below, and you are not excited for GTA V, I feel Trevor’s response to Michael applies to you too: “Jesus, your therapist has a LOT to answer for!”
