New trailer for Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods

A new trailer for the upcoming film  Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods has been released. The trailer goes for just over a minute and showcases the Z warriors attempting to take on Bills and Whis, the God of Destruction and his assistant.

The trailer revealed a few more interesting plot points. Bills is out to destroy earth and easily outclasses the Z warriors current power levels. One of the Saiyans (presumably Goku) transforms into a Great Ape, something we have not seen, at least in the main DBZ series, since the Saiyan Saga. After that, Bills and the narrator both comment on a “Super Saiyan God” appearing. V-Jump Magazine teased this in their latest issue and it is looking likely this will be an entirely new form of Super Saiyan.

The movie is set for a release in theaters throughout Japan on the 30th of March. You can view the latest trailer below.

Ever play a social game and think to yourself  ‘you know what this game is missing? Several books of deep lore.’ Well, your day has come. Ian Livingstone, a Commander of the British Order, has been appointed chairman of Playdemic. He is also the President of Eidos and under his chairmanship of Eidos we saw the release of iconic titles such as ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’ and ‘Hitman.’

For those who prefer table top gaming, they’ll recognize Ian as being the co-founder of Games Workshop, publishers of the ‘Warhammer’ franchise. Paul Gouge, CEO of Playdemic, appointed Livingstone as chairman because he ‘demonstrates our commitment to creating the highest quality games… his incredible experience and expertise in all aspects of the industry will prove invaluable in Playdemic’s continued growth.’

While technically the board is above the CEO and other Chief Officers in a company, they usually convene a couple of times a year to approve the machinations that are already decided upon. Other duties include official spokesperson and CEO evaluation. Whether this appointment is a costly experiment in marketing or Ian will truly be able impact the quality of games like ‘Gourmet Ranch’ and ‘Village Life’ is yet to be seen. That is, if it’s a non-executive role.

Deep Silver Drops Tons of Details on Sacred Citadel

The makers of Sacred Citadel, a side scrolling addition to the Sacred universe, have given a detailed explanation of what fans can expect in the game. The game’s publisher, Deep Silver, has given us a look at how they intend to merge the RPG elements of the core franchise into a side scrolling slasher.

A smooth ‘drop in/drop out’ multiplayer mechanic will allow up to 3 players to fight together, crushing throngs of enemies in a coordinated group. The playable characters are Khukuri Shaman, the Ancarian Ranger and the Safiri Warrior – alongside a fourth, as yet unannounced, character. Each class can be upgraded in line with their specific traits as they skill up.

It’s not just skills that you can enhance in Sacred Citadel. You can fully utilize the facilities in towns, meaning you’ll be able to purchase new attacks and refill both power and health. Custom weapon combinations flesh out the techniques you’ll have at hand to dice your way through the hoard.

They’ve done a lot to bring the RPG feel of both Sacred 1 and 2 to the side scrolling genre. In line with continuing universe building and the franchise’s overall structure this game will act as a prequel for Sacred 3; much like Sacred 2 did for the original.

No release date more narrow than ‘some time this year’ but it will be across pretty much every console platform bar Wii & Wii U.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker now compatible with the PS Vita

Remember the PlayStation Portable and how it’s pretty much only alive through the support of niche Japanese-to-English localization companies? Well Konami’s Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker which was originally released for the PSP is now available as a digital download that can be played on the PlayStation Vita.

In case you may have forgotten, not every PSP-download was immediately compatible with the Vita when it was released over a year ago but it seems that Konami has now managed to make it so Metal Gear fans can take Peace Walker around with them on their latest Sony handheld. Peace Walker is a bit of a departure from your standard Metal Gear Solid title as it features a blend of RPG and RTS elements and it contains four-player COoperative-OPerationS (CO-OPS) and three on three competitive fights.

Now that there is less than a week before the “reborn” Tomb Raider is released to store shelves everywhere, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have chosen to release a trailer that they have named the “Reborn” launch trailer.

The trailer shows a number of dramatic moments from within the game, ranging from combat to exploration with various people, likely from Crystal Dynamics, providing a bit of dramatic narration here and there. Course that dramatic build-up vanishes when a tacky GameStop advertisement is included at the end. You can check out the trailer below and keep an eye out for the game itself when it is released on March 5th for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Dragon Ball Z x One Piece x Toriko crossover anime visual released

You may remember hearing about a certain anime special which will feature a crossover between Dragon Ball Z, One Piece and Toriko a few weeks ago, well today a key visual for that crossover special has been released.

As you can see below, this crossover will feature the three main characters and according to a spoiler summary provided by Twitter user 0XMURADX0 who also found the image, other characters will appear as well. For a brief summary of what the special, which will air on April 7th, will contain, at least according to this user, check past the image but it is worth noting this could spoil things for those looking forward to the cross over.

The International Gourmet Organization sponsors a race and the winner gets some sort of rare food (Carat jeu Cow). So first part is about Luffy Vs. Toriko Vs. Goku trying to win the race.

(Part 2 SPOILER)
Mr. Satan wins the tournament and some twist about the race which was held in order to lure creatures that suck the power of the deep sea or whatever. Luffy senses this creature emerging then I assume the trio obliterate it. This is a rough translation, just pointed out the important parts.

Remember Me release date announced for June

Today Capcom and Dontnod Entertainment, the developer’s behind the upcoming Remember Me title, have announced the game’s release date. The game will be hitting store shelves on June 4th in North America while gamers in Europe will be able to pick it up on June 7th.

To go along with the game’s release date announcement, the company has also released a new trailer focusing on the main character of the game, Nilin, and her past. Remember Me is set to take place in the year 2084 in Neo-Paris and if you watch the video below, you’ll notice how Nilin has lost all of her memories for some reason that will probably be revealed in the game.

Free Gears of War: Judgement DLC announced; sponsored by Maxim

Today it was revealed that Gears of War: Judgment would be receiving some free downloadable content after the game is released and this DLC is courtesy of a Maxim Magazine sponsorship. As announced, the DLC will be released two weeks after the game is released on March 19th, so fans should expect it on April 2nd.

As for what the DLC contains, there will be one new map called Haven, which will be a snowy level, and the Executioner multiplayer mode. Execution mode was available in Gears of War 3 and the mode will contain the same mechanics as before, with players having to execute downed opponents before they revive themselves or kill them with one-shot kill weaponry. Any guesses as to how many Maxim flyers and posters will be plastered all over the walls of this map?

Persona 2: Eternal Punishment unplayable on the Vita and PSP; fix on the way

Yesterday Persona fans were pleased to hear that Persona 2: Eternal Punishment would be arriving on the PlayStation Network. However there is a problem with this release. You see, Atlus should have made Persona 2: Eternal Punishment available for download on all three Sony platforms, the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita.

However right now, Persona 2: Eternal Punishment is only available for download on the PlayStation 3. Sony has apologized for the problem on the Sony forums and stated that a fix is on the way, but it could take “weeks” if it is a worst case scenario.

It is worth noting that PSP owners do have the option of purchasing the game from their PS3 or Sony’s new online store and then checking their download history to secure the title, but it seems that this workaround does not work for the Vita.

ARMA III Important Announcements

Bohemia Interactive today revealed some of their more amazing plans for the upcoming ARMA III video game exclusive to the PC. The game is the sequel to the popular ARMA II video game, made even more popular by the mod: Day Z, which is also soon to get it’s own release as a fully fledged title.

What’s interesting about these announcements for ARMA III is that the developers will be allowing players to play around in the Alpha sandbox version of the game after a purchase of the Alpha, or the Digital Deluxe Edition, both of which are to appear in the Steam store in one weeks time.

What’s also cool is that anyone wanting to support the development of the game can do so by ordering the Supporter Edition of the game. The Supporter addition costs a little bit more, but comes with a greater number of bonuses than does the Digital Deluxe Edition or the Alpha.

Lastly there is a free to play version of the game that does not include multiplayer or mod support. This is called Alpha Lite and is only accessible by players that receive an invite from someone with an existing copy of the game. Interestingly enough, Alpha Lite players will also be able to distribute codes to other players.
