Code of Princess Will Come to Europe in Digital Form

code-of-princess-cutscene-grab

Here is one of the good news/bad news stories for you. After a long wait, it seems that Code of Princess will be headed to Europe. Yay! Right? Well, those who want the game better get their plastic cards ready, as this release will be digital only for the region.

As of now, there is still no solid release date for the side scroller, but Europeans should at least breathe a sigh of relief that the game will be coming out in one form – even though the cartridge crowd may snub their noses at the thought of a download.

New Details Emerge for Deadly Premonition: Director’s Cut

deadly-premonition-01

Nearly three years ago, Deadly Premonition came into my life and changed my perspective on everything for this generation. Never before had I felt as close to a cast of characters, or have ever been so attached to a whimsical little world. Greenvale is an amazing locale to visit, and thankfully, Playstation 3 owners will get their chance to dive into insanity with Deadly Premonition: Director’s Cut.

Today, Rising Star Games released a fact sheet, detailing just what players can expect to see in this upgraded port:

  • New scenario from the game’s director, Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro
  • HD graphics
  • Reworked control system allowing for an even better combat experience
  • Downloadable content to expand the mystery beyond the original game

Sounds good to me, but I personally feel as if Deadly Premonition, despite it’s faults, was a perfect experience. That being said, this game is one that you either love or hate, and that nature has lead to a hardcore cult following, which I am proud to be a member of. This version should be out in March, so the wait will soon be over for this gem to hit the PS3, right Zach?

THQ IPs to be put up for Auction on the 22nd of January

THQ-logo-png

According to a recent tweet by Distressed Debt Investing, THQ’s intellectual properties will be auctioned off “title by title”.

“Parties have come to agreement: THQI auction now on Jan 22nd. The auction will allow for piecemeal (“title by title”) sales of THQ assets”

The company with the most interest in buying these IPs is EA, who is well known for buying up intellectual properties and turning out games under that name. With much loved game IPs like Saints Row up for sale, many people are wondering if EA could keep up the quality. If EA does buy and develop these IPs, will they hire the same teams or at least some of the same developers to make sure the games keep up what made them loved or will they just use their own people to make their own version of the games?

Chrono-Tales-Wallpaper-01

Entering in their second closed beta today, the upcoming free 3D MMORPG browser title “Chrono Tales” is providing more goodies for its testers. With new content available Chrono Tales is inviting players back for a two week closed beta event. I’d say that is enough time to love something and become depressed as soon as it is taken away. Nonetheless, here is the new content available in the second closed beta:

  1. The official gives away one pet, named Flame Steed to all players.
  2. Level cap has been raised to Lv 60, more World Bosses and Daily Instances are available.
  3. Two attractive systems: Divinization and Treasure Plant are added.
  4. Hotkey CTRL+Z is available to turn on/off auto-combat directly.
  5. Server Time display has been added to the Event Intro interface.
  6. Some items are repriced, such as HP/MP potions, fodder.
  7. Some translation has been tweaked.

Being a closed beta, accounts will be wiped clean after the servers close. However, players who have topped out in the first closed beta will receive 100% return in the second. And beyond that 110% return will be seen for those that will continue to the open beta.

Nintendo have confirmed that alongside the physical release of Fire Emblem Awakening for the Nintendo 3DS, the game will also be released digitally through the Nintendo 3DS eShop for download.

This cuts out a lot of the leg work for consumers who simply want to get the game in the easiest way possible. However if you do pre-order the retail copy of the game at Gamespot you will receive a special limited edition art book.

What do you think of Fire Emblem Awakening getting a 3DS eShop digital release alongside the physical release? Let us know in the comments section below.

Discotek licenses Gunbuster 2: Diebuster

gunbuster-2-diebusterDiscotek Media have announced that they have licensed the classic GAINAX anime series Gunbuster 2: Diebuster for release throughout North America.

Their release of Gunbuster 2: Diebuster will be sub-titled only with Japanese audio. There will not be a English dub for this release but that probably won’t be of too great a concern to the hardcore GAINAX fans that will have their eyes on this. The series totals in at 6 episodes much like another GAINAX series by the name of FLCL, both series share the same director even.

Gunbuster 2: Diebuster will hit North American shelves on May 21st, 2013. Be sure to let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Tamako Market licensed by Sentai Filmworks

tamako-market-01

It looks like the drought of 2013 anime licenses may be coming to an end. Today Sentai Filmworks has announced that they have acquired the license to Tamako Market, which is an original anime being produced by Kyoto animation (best known for K-ON! and Chu2Koi) and directed by K-ON1’s Naoko Yamada.

Full release details were not provided by Sentai at this time, though they are planning on releasing it sometime later this year physically, but until then it has been announced that The Anime Network will begin streaming the show on Thursday, January 10 at 9:30 AM CST with every episode after that debuting at the same time.

Sentai Filmworks provided a brief synopsis of Tamako Market’s story which can be read below:

Tamako knows just about everything there is to know about mochi, the traditional Japanese dessert treats. When she’s not attending her first year of high school, she even invents new flavors and varieties for Tama-ya, her family’s mochi shop. School and growing up, on the other hand, are some things that she’s still trying to find the right recipe for. But with the help of her best friends Kanna and Midori, two girls whose parents run businesses in the same shopping district, Tamako’s determined to make the best of things. It’s complicated though, especially when it comes to emotions and her relationship with her best boy friend Mochizo, whose family runs a rival mochi shop. And lately, Kanna’s been feeling a little odd about her feelings towards Tamako as well. And what’s with up with that strange bird fluttering around, the one that speaks fluent Japanese? It’s all very mysterious and overwhelming, but at least Tamako always has one thing she can count on: No matter if your day’s been good or bad, there’s certain to be something sugary and delicious waiting at the end of every adventure whenever you take a walk through TAMAKO MARKET!

This actually marks only the second licensing announcement for an anime airing in 2013, with Love Live! being the first licensed this year by NIS America.
