Behind the Scenes of Flight with Director Robert Zemeckis

‘Brace For Impact’ as we have a nice behind-the-scenes featurette for the movie Flight, starring Denzel Washington. The film releases in Australia on January 31st, and you can read our review right now.

The video focuses around the shooting of the much talked about plane crash sequence, and it gives a lot of insight within it’s paltry 2:32 length. Anyone who is interested in film-making or just the film itself should definitely check it out. It features the legendary director Robert Zemeckis, Denzel Washington and many other members of the production speaking on the scene and how it was achieved as you get to take a look at the complicated rigging that made the realistic, upside down moments in the cabin/cockpit possible. That video can be viewed at the bottom of this article.

Before that though, we also have a new clip from the film, called “Life In Prison”. It is a pivotal moment in the film where Denzel’s character, the pilot “Whip” Whitaker, is told that he had a toxicology report done on him while he was knocked out in the hospital…and, well, things begin to unravel for Mr. Whitaker. Watch it directly below.

Banned Dexter’s Laboratory episode uncovered

dexters-lab
Every now and then rumours arise about supposed banned episodes of TV, some of which forever exist as a myth never to see the light of day. Dexter’s Laboratory fans however are in for a treat as one such banned or ‘lost’ episode has been uncovered after more than a decade since its creation.

The episode is titled ‘Rude Removal’ and focuses on Dexter inventing a machine that splits a person into a good and bad side, essentially splitting them into two different people. ‘Rude Removal’ never made it to air for a pretty simple reason, it features excessive swearing throughout although it was beeped out. Despite the beeping Cartoon Network saw it to be not suitable for children and pulled the plug on it.

You can check out the episode now below. Be sure to let us know what you think of this bizarre episode in the comments section below.

Guild Wars 2 – What’s next?

0

Guild Wars 2 has become quite the success in the MMORPG market and won several awards including Capsule Computer’s own Game of the Year Award for Best PC Game of 2012. So what’s next for this online giant? Coming January 28th a prologue to a multi-stage narrative will be introduced inferring many additions to the title’s existing content. Named as the Flame & Frost Prelude, the story commences as both sky and earth enact destruction on the inhabitants of Wayfarer Foothills and Diessa Plateau. As the refugees flee south to seek shelter from this new adversary, a call to arms is requested in aiding your fellow man.

Here are some features that you can look forward to see in the future update:

  • Temple of the Silent Storm Week – (Jan. 28 – Feb. 4) Two-team/single round paid tournaments will replace eight-team/three round tournaments. After this grace period, both will be be included as paid and free tournaments.
  • Improved Achievement System – New rotation of daily achievements is being added as well as a new UI tracker.
  • New Achievement Laurels – Performed daily achievements may grant your player with a brand new laurel. They can possibly be traded in for Ascended gear and Infusions…
  • Guesting – No longer will you be able to freely move from world to world. However, guesting will allow you to play with friends on a different world granting you are in the same region. Guesting will have some restrictions.
  • New Utility Infusions and Ascended Amulets – New gear coming in with the addition of the laurels. 5 Utility Infusions and 30 Ascended Amulets ready to be traded for.
  • More Upgrades and Improvements – UI appearance, World versus World, and dynamic level adjust system are all getting some tweaks. Stay tuned…

And certainly that will not be all that Guild Wars 2 will be pushing out, but it is a fair amount to be excited for. If you have a suggestion for the GW2 team, let us know in the comments below.

Learn ‘How To Kill A Witch’ With Hansel & Gretel

Hansel-&-Gretel-Australian-OneSheet-01We’ve got two new clips for the upcoming fairy-tale bloodbath that is Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (3D).

The first is titled “Meet Hansel & Gretel”, and is a cool and effective scene that introduces the characters to a town – and maybe to you – for the first time. They get a bit of a frosty reception from the seeming town Mayor. WARNING: There is some swearing in the video (Hansel and Gretel really are all grown up!)

The second clip is called “How To Kill A Witch”. Pretty simple really, with 3 Steps: Use your head. Bring the heat. Make some noise! Brimming with bad-ass-ness! (that doesn’t read well…) You can view both clips below.

Before doing so, let me remind you to visit and ‘like’ the official AU Hansel & Gretel Facebook page if you’re a fan, and that the “Wave of Witches” Facebook flash game is also up right now. Now, go on and view the candy coated carnage!

dust-514-01

Today is a big day for CCP Games, as today – the free to download and play DUST 514 has entered Open Beta for the Playstation 3. For those unfamiliar, DUST 514 was recently connected with EVE online, allowing PC players and console owners to come together in the massive universe that is New Eden. Yes, this means that a space combat simulator and a first person shooter have become one, and things look to be just heating up for the new IP.

Now that DUST 514 has entered open beta, mercenaries will begin to shape their careers in earnest as there are no further character resets planned and every shot, every battle and every contract counts. Going forward, all skill upgrades, weapon choices, dropsuit selections and vehicle fittings will shape the fighting strategies and the battles of all mercenaries in DUST 514.

The DUST 514 Open Beta is the next step towards CCP’s long-term vision for the EVE Universe. In the upcoming weeks, and for years to come, CCP will continually improve upon the overall DUST 514 experience, adding features, content, as well as deeper integration between the two games.

If you haven’t already, go out and download DUST 514 on the Playstation 3 and get into the action, as this will be one massive experience that is sure to only grow over time.

The Walking Dead game gets rating in Australia

the-walking-dead-episode-4-around-every-corner
Big news for point and click-adventurers and Walking Dead fanatics alike with the news coming in that Telltale Games award-winning The Walking Dead has finally received classification in Australia.

This of course means the game will finally see the light of day on consoles in Australia. Telltale Games themselves did not submit the game for classification last year upon the games release but has now done so following the implementation of an R18+ rating down under. Funnily enough the game recieved an MA15+ rating which means it could have been released prior to the implementation of the R18+ rating. But as they say it’s better late than never.

It is unknown as to when the game will hit the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 within Australia at this point in time. The Walking Dead won our Game of the Year award for 2012 which you can see here.

What do you think of The Walking Dead being rated in Australia? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
