I love to see when Club Nintendo changes things up with their digital rewards, and those who own a Wii, Wii U, or 3DS will be happy to know that the time has come for more free games with the relinquishment of those pesky coins you have been building up.
This month, Paper Mario – yes, the PAPER MARIO, is a Club Nintendo reward and priced at just 200 coins. Making a return is the wonderful Kirby’s Super Star for the Wii Virtual Console at 150 coins. Those who have a 3DS will also be happy to know that the addictive Birds and Beans can be swooped up for 100 golden nuggets, while Metal Torrent is priced at 150 to match the pink fluffball. A nice lot this month indeed. These rewards expire on March 10th, so get them while the getting is good.
Thanks to popular demand, the ever growing Chrono Tales is adding not one but two new servers. Developers Ray Media are putting together the two servers after the popularity of their previously released Open Beta and Server 1, and the thousands of active players demanded the expansion. Based on feedback from the players one of the daily events within the game, Survival Island is one of the most popular. This event consists of 13 floating islands that players can move about freely attacking and battling other players. When the event opens players will be given a short time to prepare for coming onslaught. Once the game starts there is a twist to the combat, as time progresses the islands are blocked off one by one until there is only one; making it impossible for players to avoid combat.
These events are not without out incentive as top players are awarded prizes with especially great gifts saved for the top 3 players in each round. There is only one way to win, and that is survive as you lose the instant you’re killed by another player and your only options are to stay and watch the battle royale, or leave the game. For interested fans, or those wondering what the fuss is about, information and screens can be found at http://ct.gamedp.com/index.
Today Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics released a video pretty much anyone who wants to pick up the game should check out. You see, the video is a nearly 12 minute long walkthrough showing off some of what the game will offer as far as combat and platforming is concerned. Of course this means that there are a few spoilers here and there so you should only watch it if you don’t care about minor spoilers.
Anyways, check out the video below if you feel like and keep an eye out for Tomb Raider itself when it is released on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on March 5th.
We all knew that this was coming. It has been announced today that the G4 television network will stop being a home for reruns of Cops and Cheaters and sad memories of a great channel that used to feature great video game and tech oriented television shows and will now be yet another channel man viewers will simply skip over as they browse through hundreds of channels this April.
To be a bit more specific, NY Times reports that NBCUniversal, the owner of the channel, will change the channel to “The Esquire Network” on April 22nd which will be like an “upscale Bravo for men.” Some early shows will be “Knife Fight” which is not as cool as it sounds considering it’s a cooking competition show and “The Getaway” which is a celebrity travel show. Remember when television used to be cool?
Today Blue Isle Studios announced that fans can expect to see Slender: The Arrival released on March 26th. As such, the company has offered a number of pre-order options for early buyers to earn some discounts and a few other incentives. The game itself will cost $10 once it launches but players can currently pre-order it now for only $5.
If you choose to pay a bit more, $15 nets you the game’s soundtrack on launch day while $25 provides five high-resolution downloadable paintings from the game. For those with a lot of money to spend, you can drop $60 to obtain all of the benefits mentioned before as well as a special thanks in the game’s credits.
Anuman Interactive announced their acquisition of two major French video gaming magazines today. Joystick and Tilt have both been published and sold in France and other French speaking nations since the 1980s. Their parent company MER7 was recently liquidated forcing Joystick and Tilt to cease publication in November of 2012. Stéphane Longeard, CEO of Anuman Interactive explains “As players, we are necessarily attached to those two magazines. In a near future, we are willing to make “Joystick” and “Tilt” come alive again under new forms that will remind something to all those who have lived video games through those mythical magazines”.
Anuman Interactive has not announced their plans for the two magazines, promising more information in the second quarter of 2013.
As you may know, Capcom is bringing an expansion to Dragon’s Dogma in the form of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. As such the company has now revealed a new trailer showing off some of the new monsters that will be appearing in the expansion once it is released on April 23rd for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
As you can see in the video below, a number of new enemies such as a Reaper, salamanders, treasure chest mimics and other creatures will be threatening the Arisen’s life this time around. Of course given how talkative you’re Pawns can be at times, they’ll be glad to warn you of any major dangers ahead of time.
