hakuoki-memory-of-flowers-001

Anime fans in Australia will be excited to know that the OVA series for the Hakuoki franchise, A Memory of Snow Flowers, has been licensed by Hanabee. The OVA is scheduled to be released on the 1st of May and will come with all six episodes of the OVA series. The OVA series will also come with both the English and the Japanese dubs so that fans can listen to the series in their preferred language.

The following is a quote from the synopsis:

Oni from East and West do battle over Chizuru the Geisha.

It’s not every day that the Shinsengumi get to see Chizuru dressed as a geisha, and this latest undercover mission has her comrades all in a muddle. As snows start to come on, protective instincts are ignited amongst the men – the Bakufu are clumsier than usual, drunks are drooling over Chizuru and brawls are the order of the day for the impassioned Shinsengumi.

But all conflict is fleeting – encounters with drunks, corrupt bakufu, greedy brothel owners and even a visit from a rather romantic Kazama Chikage cannot dampen the spirits for long when the comrades have dango, haiku and fellowship to call on.

Marvel Anti-Hero trailer shows off Deadpool’s “creative talent”

deadpool-anti-hero-trailer-01

In anticipation for 2013’s undoubtedly wackiest video game entry, the newest trailer for the up and coming Deadpool game has been released. For those who are unaware, the trailer, labelled as the “Marvel Anti Hero” trailer, details our protagonist as exactly that. Having taken all of Marvel’s money (spending it on heavy duty artillery and Mexican bean products no doubt), our merc with a mouth has provided his own “creative” look into his game, set for release in June this year. The trailer also shows off some beautifully rendered environments, which Deadpool then immediately proceeds to detonate, other recognisable faces from the Marvel universe, and a few interesting pieces of propaganda from those who have worked with our merc closely. While it doesn’t show off much of the story (uh… at all..), if nothing else the trailer highlights the absolute insanity that will await players will experience upon the purchase of this particular title. There’s just something whimsical about seeing a man propelling himself forwards with a rocket powered ATV. Check out the trailer for yourselves below!

The SimCity Saga Pays Off With Free Games

simcity-comets-01
It’s been a hell of a weekend for all those wannabe urban planners who have been subjected to SimCity’s DRM failures. The first release from the SimCity franchise since ‘SimCity 4’ in 2003 has been plagued by inadequate server space leaving vast swathes of players getting error messages since the day it came out.

Lucy Bradshaw, the General Manager of the Maxis label put out a press release detailing the issues and their response. Essentially the game was more popular than they expected and players were playing the game in unexpected ways. In essence they’re saying they had no idea how many people bought the game, and those people were playing the game wrong.

There is a silver lining to the failure however. No, they aren’t removing the always online element. They’re giving away 1 title from the EA library to those impacted by the issues. Players who signed up before a certain date will receive an email detailing how to claim the game. The only thing to put EA and Maxis back into our good graces here isn’t the free game in my opinion. It’s that they admitted that they were total douches about it:

I know that’s a little contrived – kind of like buying a present for a friend after you did something crummy.  But we feel bad about what happened.  We’re hoping you won’t stay mad and that we’ll be friends again when SimCity is running at 100 percent.

Contrived? Yes, but it’s better than telling us to suck eggs.
