Cheap Dungeons And Dragons Games On GOG.com

baldurs-gate-2-001

Are you a fan of the Dungeons & Dragons universe? How about a fan of great and classic RPG’s? Did you once play an awesome Bioware game in the past and have long since wanted to return to that game now? Well, over at GOG.com (Good Old Games), you are able to pick up many of the classic D&D titles for incredibly cheap and low prices.

For example, you can grab the original Baldur’s Gate game for slightly less than $2. Now this was a game that recently got remade and currently sits at around $20, so if you’re budget impaired or prefer the original version of the game, you can now get it for incredibly cheap.

All up, the pack will set you back ~$22, but you can purchase games individually should you already have some of the games in the list or have no interest in them. My suggestion would be to definitely pick up Planescape Torment and the Neverwinter Nights games.

Be sure to check out the sale here. It ends in 20hours at the time of writing.

New style of online mode for Suda51’s next game

Suda51-new-game
Grasshopper CEO, Goichi ‘Suda15’ Suda, has given a hint as to what one can expect from Grasshopper’s next game. He revealed that the next game from Grasshopper will feature a new style of online functionality.

He confirmed that the game is slated for consoles but no exact platform has been set at this time, “Naturally we are interested in developing games for the next-gen platforms. We are investigating the specs and all that right now.”

A key visual for the game which can be seen above was released along side the game’s tag-line “What the hell are you looking at?” It is said to be set in the near future.

Suda51 spoke more on the new title, “This is going to be an action game obviously but the gameplay style is going to differ very much – it’ll be unique. This is a title that GungHo Japan and Grasshopper Manufacture is working on together collaboratively so there will be an online feature, because that’s their forte and what they specialize in. On the simplest level it will be social, but the word social is used and misinterpreted a lot these days. GungHo has over ten years of experience in providing online gaming services so that is their strength.”

When asked about the game’s online multiplayer aspects he had this to say, “This is a very new style of online feature, so there’s no example from the past.”

This is all very exciting for fans of Grasshopper and Suda51, but for now its all just part of the hype train. We will keep you updated on Suda51’s next game as more information comes to light.

Tales series will remain on current-generation platforms for time being

tales-of-xillia-jude-milla- (11)
The producer and director of the Tales series, Hideo Baba, has confirmed that at this time there are no plans to expand the Tales series onto next-generation consoles and handhelds.

Baba commented on the PS Vita and chances of  Tales game for it, “Unfortunately, at this present time we don’t have any plans to release any of the Vita titles. One of the main reasons is, unfortunately, the PlayStation Vita is doing relatively poorly in North America, so it’s one of those things that if the numbers increased considerably, then it’s something we could consider.”

He followed up with thoughts on the next-generation of home consoles, “The Wii U is a brilliant console that offers a lot of innovation and possibility for new types of gameplay. Foremost, we just want to make sure that we’re able to provide the next titles on a console that a lot of our fans already have.”

“So basically there’s just a lot of things that we keep bringing to the plate, whether it’s stories or characters, whatever console it may be, we want to make sure we bring the best to the fans,” Baba concluded.

So it looks like at least for now we won’t be seeing the Wii U Tales game many of us dream of. But its nice to know its on Hideo Baba’s radar. Let us know in the comments section below what you think of this.

Harmonix Websites go Dark Temporarily due to Intrusion

harmonix-01

Temporarily, that is. Just last week, Harmonix ended the DLC for their famed “Rock Band” franchise with American Pie. It was a special moment for the developer who never stopped supporting their fans, but today – things are not so rosy.

Many users of the website have been receiving emails of an outage, as if you go to RockBand.com, DanceCentral.com, or even Creators.RockBand.com, you will notice an error message explaining that the websites have been taken down temporarily. Well, that email details the reasoning for this, as it seems an intrusion is to blame for the takedown.

The security of your Harmonix user information is very important to us. We’ve taken the sites down while we investigate this incident and determine how our systems and the information we maintain may have been compromised; At this time, we have not found that any of our users’ information has been published or misused. None of our sites maintain any credit card information, social security numbers, or financial account numbers for any of our users

The bulk of the email is in the quote above, but if you are a user, change that password and don’t take this outage too seriously, as it seems everything is being handled in this manner as a precaution. Thankfully, the servers for Rock Band Blitz are still golden, so while you wait to go back to the forums or that still thriving community, go challenge some scores and soon enough, Harmonix should be following up with a new update.

Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition is $40 off at Best Buy

batman-arkham-city-armoured-edition-artwork-01

Yes, you heard me. If you have been wanting something of quality to play on the Wii U, Best Buy have just posted a sale for Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition, putting the game at $40 off it’s $59.99 price-tag, which leaves us with one solid product for $19.99.

I admit I wasn’t too crazy about the whole Batarang/Gamepad gimmick, but there is still a fantastic experience to be had in these streets of Arkham, so Wii U owners shouldn’t hesitate and pick up a copy of Arkham City’s Nintendo offering while the getting it good. Check out our hands on with the title during E3 2012 here.

Shovel Knight receiving music from Mega Man Composer

shovel_knight_screen_11

Another win for a game that has yet to see a release. Shovel Knight, which is being developed by some former developers of WayForward (now deemed Yacht Club Games), is still going through it’s Kickstarter phase – but already has a bit of promise just off the news of who will be adding to it’s soundtrack.

Manami Matsumae, who composed melodies for the original Mega Man is going to be working on two tracks for Shovel Knight. Yes, that is a huge step forward for a game that is so inspired by that franchise to start with, and is being developed by the same minds that brought us Double Dragon Neon and Contra 4. If you haven’t yet, check out the official Kickstarter for the game here, and stay tuned as Shovel Knight will hopefully getting more updates as funding rolls in. Remember this as well – Just because Shovel Knight is funded, doesn’t meant you can’t STILL donate to make the experience even more grand, so if you have a few bucks – toss it to a project that has a lot of potential.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon a Standalone Title, Comes Out May 1st

Far-Cry-3-Blood-Dragon-Logo-01

The details are all coming together now on Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. The Xbox Live Marketplace listing for the game has been updated with the release date, an expanded overview and clarification on the format of the release.

First off, here is the overview:

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is THE Kick-Ass Cyber Shooter taking place on a bizarre open-world island crawling with evil. Welcome to an 80’s VHS vision of the future. The year is 2007 and you are Sargent Rex Colt, a Mark IV Cyber Commando who’s fighting against a cyborg army gone rogue. Your mission: get the girl, kill the baddies, and save the world. Experience every cliché of a VHS era vision of a nuclear future, where cyborgs, blood dragons, mutants, and Michael Biehn (Terminator, Aliens, Navy Seals) collide. Playing Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon doesn’t require a copy of Far Cry 3.

Far-Cry-3-Blood-Dragon-01

That single paragraph is full of so much information…

  • The game will remain an open-world experience
  • Sounds like “Blood Dragon” is literal…there will be blood dragons in the game!
  • Michael Biehn of Terminator fame will feature (and it seems that central figure on the cover was him all along)
  • It is a standalone Arcade title

Now, if you visit the listing itself, you will see an R 18+ rating attached to the title, and if you click through to the second Overview page, you will also see a release date of May 1st. Seems like this VHS future is nearer than first thought.

Also check out the first leaked screenshots from the retro cyber-shooter. How awesome is this?! Are you guys as excited as we are?
