Nordic Games has proved you don’t just find bargains on games in discount bins. THQ’s implosion has made picking up entire franchises as affordable as buying into Sydney real estate, with several titles proving to be even cheaper. Spending $4.9 million over all, Nordic Games have claimed over 10 individual franchises to add to their catalogue. 505 Games cleaned up what was on offer, rounding out THQ‘s final sales figure to $6.55 million.

If you’ve ever been a fan of Darksiders, Red Faction, MX vs ATV, Destroy all Humans!, Summoner, Marvel Super Hero Squad or Supreme Commander then you can expect Nordic Games to be giving you something new in the coming years. They’ve also acquired Titan Quest, Frontlines, Stuntman, Juiced and Full Spectrum Warrior. CEO Lars Wingefors has indicated they’re not going to rush out any titles. Rather, they’re going to take a look at the health of each franchise and individually assign sales strategies to them depending on their strengths.

Sentai Filmworks announced that it has acquired the TV anime Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge, titled The Severing Crime Edge, for North America. It is due to release digitally first before being distributed as a home release late in the year.

The series protagonist, Haimura Kiri, has an obsession with cutting people’s hair. He comes across Mushiyanokouji Iwai whose hair cannot be cut due to a curse. Coincidentally his mysterious scissor, “Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge”, can. This sparks an old murder game to kill the girl known as the “Hair Queen” using these cursed murder tools. Kiri is then forced to protect Iwai from the participants.

Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge was a Spring 2013 pick by one of our editors and is currently airing in Japan and streaming on Crunchy Roll.

Remember Me Score Comes from Mind of Olivier Deriviere

Remember-Me-New-Screens-07

Developer Dontnod Entertainment and publisher Capcom probably had a lot of options to choose from when deciding on who would compose the musical score for their upcoming game Remember Me. Regardless of all the options available, they seem to have chosen a great fit with composer Olivier Deriviere.

Having previously done composition work for Alone in the Dark and Of Orcs and Men, Olivier has uniquely created the score for Remember Me by taking live recordings of Philharmonia Orchestra at Air Studios in London by John Kurlander and then electronically remixing at Universal Mastering Studios in Los Angeles into multiple layers to fit with the futuristic setting and theme of rebuilding Nilin’s memory. For those missing the deeper meaning there, by utilizing the purely organic sound of the orchestra and modifying it digitally, the score perfectly reflects the main character’s state of mind. Heavy stuff.

Even more so, the score has been designed to adapt to how the player controls Nilin, while also incorporating hidden messages. Players wanting to check out how the game will sound can listen to samples HERE, else they just have to wait until Remember Me releases for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in North America on June 4th, then in Europe on June 7th.

Developer Levelloop and publisher BulkyPix are releasing their new candy-eating chameleon game for iPhones and iPads on May 2 via the App Store. The aim is to catch all of the candies falling from the sky before they hit the ground.

To spice things up the gameplay features a combo and experience system with the player collecting money from the swallowed candy. Not everything is edible however, as falling piranhas, giant spiders and poisonous confectionery pose a danger.

The game has two gameplay modes, upgrades, skills and 9 species of chameleons to unlock. Social integration is playing a central role as well with Facebook support to play with friends and compare scores.

You can follow the publisher on Facebook and Twitter for more info, and be sure to check out the trailer and screenshots below.
