Marvel Heroes – Episode 4 of Chronicles of Doom

Marvel Heroes is concluding the motion comic series they kicked off last month with Episode 1, Episode 2, and Episode 3 with the 4th and final video releasing today. Acting as a prequel to the upcoming MMORPG Marvel Heroes game from Gazillion Entertainment and Marvel, the motion comic series has focused on Doctor Doom as he makes his play for the stakes of the Marvel Universe.

Being the conclusion of a prequel series, fans shouldn’t expect too much of a finale as it is meant to lead right into Marvel Heroes storyline. But, the video does do a good job of covering just why Doom hasn’t faced the full weight of Marvel’s heroes in the previous Episodes. Those wanting to see how the series wraps up can view Episode 4 embedded below before Marvel Heroes hits PC on June 4th.

Path Of Exile Launches Second Phase Of Open Beta

Indie developer Grinding Gear Games has announced that Path of Exile, their popular online action RPG will be getting a major content update as it enters its second phase of Open Beta. As the game enters its newest phase, the game will get two four-month long leagues to provide players with new gameplay, new unique items, and eight exclusive achievement-like challenges.

The two new game modes, Anarchy and Onslaught, will be distinguished by new items, intense challenges, and an epic difficulty, offering a new degree of gameplay beyond the normal Standard and Hardcore leagues. These new leagues will last from June 8 to October 8. Each mode will also provide six new base items and six new league-specific Uniques.

In Anarchy mode, NPCs will be equipped with the abilities and items of player characters, so they should be treated with extreme caution. Onslaught mode, created for the folks that find Hardcore too easy, will function like a lighter version of the game’s Turbo races, but it will last four months.

The game will also be getting eight new Challenges include:

Slay the 13 rogue exiles (Anarchy only).
Reach level 60 on each character class (Onslaught only).
Use a Map of every type in the Map Device.
Allocate all of the notable and keystone passives.
Receive 34 specific items from vendor recipes.
Full-clear each non-Map area in any difficulty.
Use all currency items (excluding Mirror of Kalandra).
Own a specific set of 90 Unique items at the same time.

Path of Exile will also be getting several bug fixes, re-balances, and more.

Big Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii Price Cuts Predicted at E3

If you’re looking to buy an Xbox 360, Playstation 3, or Wii you might want to wait until after E3 as sweeping price cuts to all existing consoles are just over the horizon, according to Wedbush video game industry analyst Michael Pachter.

Speaking with CNet, Pachter believes Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft will all announce console price cuts during the show, as the next generation of gaming is right around the corner.

Microsoft and Sony will cut their existing PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 prices by “at least $50.” Nintendo on the other hand will drop their Wii price down to $99.

However more surprisingly, Nintendo is also said to also cutting the price on their Wii U consoles to improve sales of the console, which weren’t that bad, but not that great in 2012.

Both Basic and Deluxe Wii U bundle prices are predicated to be cut by $50. If not, Pachter believes Nintendo would instead opt for more games bundled with the consoles.

Of cause these are all predictions, so take this news with a grain of salt. These price cuts have yet to be confirmed.

E3 2013 is to take place next week from June 11-13.

Scorpion Invades Injustice: Gods Among Us

Just when players thought that the classic ninja would be getting a rest from his resurrected fighting exploits, NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. have decided to dredge his soul up to fight again in Injustice: Gods Among Us. Scorpion will be the next DLC character to be joining the roster among the likes of superheroes and supervillians, like Batgirl and Lobo.

Not an entirely unexpected choice for inclusion in the game, after previous crossover Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, Scorpion makes perfect sense as he is a fan favorite character. Players may notice he has bit of a different outfit for this outing though, having received a redesign by DC Entertainment’s Co-Publisher Jim Lee.

Those wanting to see Scorpion in action taking on the likes of the DC Universe in his new duds can watch a trailer for the DLC character embedded below. Those interested in adding him to their Injustice: Gods Among Us roster will be able to purchase Scorpion for 400 MS Points on Xbox 360 or $4.99 (£3.99) for PS3. New Fable Game On Its Way for Xbox One?

Lionhead Studios, the creators of the Fable series have opened up new Fable forums on their official website which may hint to a new Fabel game for the Xbox One.

The new website invites players to:

Join fans from across the globe to discuss all things Fable; from the latest news & announcements to guides, walkthroughs and fan content. Wherever your interests lie, you’re bound to find the perfect bunch of people to discuss them with.

This move precedes studio owner’s Microsoft E3 press conference next week, where it’s expected that they’ll reveal new information on their new console the Xbox One, and more importantly what games we’ll be playing on the new system.

At the Xbox One unveiling, the company pledged to release 15 Xbox One exclusives in the platform’s first year, with eight of them being entirely new franchises.

With Lionhead opening new Fable forums, and Microsoft set to announce a bunch of new Xbox One games next week, putting two and two together it is highly likely that one of those games will be a new Fable game for the Xbox One.

As to what type of next-gen Fable game we’ll be getting, we may see the return of motion control a la Fable: The Journey style, considering the Xbox One’s integral connection with Kinect 2.0, or perhaps a Fable MMO as it’s been rumoured for quite some time.

But time will tell which type of Fable game we’ll be getting in the near future, let’s just hope it’s a good one.

Microsoft’s E3 2013 press conference is to takes place Monday, June 10.

Combat Cats Kickstarter Kicks Off

New Horizon Games started their Kickstarter campaign for their new game Combat Cats. The game takes the classic match three puzzle genre and adds an RPG twist to the game. Players will take on the role of ace combat pilot of the Kitty Island Homeland Security as they attempt to recapture the stolen catnip and bring security back to the island. There are plenty of weapons and equipment available to purchase and attach to their ships. The game features retro style graphics, plenty of upgrades, and an old school soundtrack.

The team is seeking $1,600 to pay for licensing fees, marketing, and the retro soundtrack by Michael Staple. The game currently has a Steam Greenlight page and will be available for Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android.

Dark Souls 2 Release Window Leaked

PRAISE THE SUN! We finally have an idea of when we will be preparing to die all over again. As you can see above, we will be returning to the world of Lordran and dying more times than we can count next March. This banner was placed outside the LA Convention Centre, which next week will play host to a somewhat popular event in the gaming community – E3. Since this banner was erected, the game’s publisher, Namco Bandai have confirmed that Dark Souls II will be in our hands by March next year.

Announced at the 2012 Video Game Awards, Dark Souls II will be the sequel to the hugely successful RPG that had players all over the world ripping their hair out, throwing controllers in frustration and really questioning themselves and their skills at the humble pass time of video gaming.

For those who haven’t played it, Dark Souls was the spiritual successor to the hugely popular PS3-exclusive Demon’s Souls, and both games are known for their vicious difficulty and for being able to illicit responses in gamers that are beyond description. The surge of emotion you get after finally defeating a creature that has been using your body as a tennis ball for six hours is a feeling like no other.

There are some concerns out there, as the director of Dark Souls II has stated that he wants the game to be more accessible than the original. The concern is understandable, as many people interpret the word “accessible” as meaning “easier,” and much of Dark Souls’ charm and fun comes from its crushing difficulty. However despite this uncertainty, there is still a whole lot of excitement for Dark Souls II.

We here at Capsule Computers loved the original Dark Souls, and I am sure I am not the only one who is thrilled about the prospect of dying over and over again in just nine months. With E3 around the corner, and considering there is a big banner emblazoning the side of the building it is being held in, I would put good money on Namco Bandai showing us more on Dark Souls II, so for all the information as it becomes available, be sure to stay tuned to Capsule Computers.

Dragon Ball Z’s Original Dub DVD Set Up For Pre-Order

Funimation has opened pre-orders for its Dragon Ball Z: Rock the Dragon Collector’s Edition DVD Box Set. The collection includes the original broadcast version of DBZ with the Canadian voice cast and the “Rock the Dragon” opening sequence.

The DVDs will contain episodes 1-53 plus the three movies Dead Zone, The World’s Strongest and Tree of Might. Since it’s a collector’s edition they’re including a 48-page hardcover art book showcasing characters, history and tropes from the classic anime series.

You can pre-order it from Rightstuf who are currently offering it for $59.99 while its regular price is $99.98. This seems like it shouldn’t be missed by fans of the series, particularly if you loved the original “Ocean Dub” voice cast.

One More Man of Steel TV Spot

Did you guys know that a new Superman movie is coming out? No not the animated Superman Unbound, but a live-action film called the Man of Steel. I know there is one coming out because it seems that every time I turn on my computer there is a brand new trailer, TV spot, or preview video to remind me. Warner Bros. seems absolutely adamant on letting every SINGLE person in the world know that Man of Steel is coming out soon. Over the weekend the film and game publishing behemoth (you guessed it) released the TENTH TV spot for the film.

Just last week when the ninth TV spot was released, I made the comparison to an episode of The Simpsons and how many of us are gluttons, devouring every morsel we get and still demanding more. While that seems to be the way the world is nowadays, with us as viewers never being satisfied until we have seen all there is to see, I’m just beginning to worry that with all the trailers, teasers and TV spots that Warner Bros. might be reaching a point where they are beginning to kill off the buzz for their film. I mean, between all the promotional material there is almost 16 minutes of footage out there and that is more than enough for people to piece together a good chunk of the plot. I personally am still giddy with excitement for the film, but at the same time I am almost as interested to see if the abundance of promo material has helped or hurt ticket sales.

The Raven – Legacy of a Master Thief Gets Free Graphic Novel

Nordic Games have released a unique teaser in the form of a free, browser-based interactive graphic novel which serves as a prequel for the upcoming The Raven – Legacy of a Master Thief adventure game. You can view the literary adventure here or through the Android app for mobile devices.

“It’s a free gift from us at Nordic Games,” explains Peter Hercher, Product Marketing Manager. It aims to “provide a deeper understanding of who the Raven is, what motivates him and will help players piece together parts of the story that they’ll hear about when playing through the main game out this summer.”

The first chapter of The Raven will be out for the PSN and Xbox Live Marketplace on July 23. The second and third chapters are set for release on August 27 and September 24, respectively. The season pass is now available, too, allowing access to all three chapters for £16.79 and saving players 20% off during the pre-order phase.

The Raven – Legacy of a Master Thief is a ‘whodunnit’ adventure tale set across 1960s Europe. Players follow The Raven’s trademark black feather clues to capture the thief and to protect a legendary sapphire, the “Eye of the Sphinx” on its journey from Switzerland to Egypt.
