Pokemon X and Y Shows Kalos Region and First Gym Leader

There seems to be no shortage of new information for the newest in the Pokémon games, as even though E3 has come to an end this year Pokémon Company International and Nintendo have released even more information about the upcoming Pokemon X and Y.

The main information to be released today was all about the Kalos region and the characters players would be meeting there. All living in the town of Vaniville, the player character will be interacting with a group of friends; Shauna, Tierno, Trevor, and (depending on gender) Serena or Calem. The official press release goes on to describe the friends:

Shauna is an incredibly energetic girl who is coming along on the journey to find a dream of her own. She’s friendly and outgoing, and seems to genuinely enjoy all the curiosities you’ll come across on your journey.
Tierno is the dancer of the group and wants more than anything to create a dance team with his Pokémon. Strong, kind, and light on his feet, Tierno gets easily distracted by watching opposing Pokémon during battles because he’s too busy trying to incorporate Pokémon moves into his dances.
Trevor bursts with curiosity about the world around him. He’s an excellent student, and very competitive, wanting to be the first of the group to complete his Pokédex.
Serena or Calem lives next door to you in Vaniville Town. This character has a passion to become a powerful Pokémon Trainer and sets out on the journey to accomplish that dream.

From there players will be setting off on their adventure with the first stop being Santalune City, which houses the first gym that players will have to contend through. The most interesting thing about the entire gym is that it houses a giantic spiderweb, which players will have to navigate over to meet their first gym leader, Viola (pictured above). While there will be plenty more to find out about the Kalos Region in the time to come, also released are some more names and pictures of new Pokémon, though Spewpa had been previously mentioned as the Pokémon that evolves into Vivillon.

But those newly announced Pokémon aren’t all, as what good is seeing a bunch of new Pokémon if there isn’t a chance to see them in action. Thankfully though, there is a new trailer showing off these new Pokémon and the Kalos Region, which players can watch embedded below. Pokémon X and Y is set for release October 12th, 2013 for the Nintendo 3DS.

The real world bike race Le Tour de France will be reaching its 100th anniversary this year, which is exactly why publisher Focus Home Interactive and developer Cyanide Studio are celebrating this momentous occurrence with the upcoming Tour de France 2013 – 100th Edition.

While obviously based on the name alone it is easy to guess what Tour de France 2013 is about, but the more intricate details, especially gameplay-wise aren’t so easy to deduce. Which is exactly why the new trailer has been released to give a better understanding and general overview of everything the game has to offer. From picking teams, to switching between cyclists, to setting up custom tours, plus players can coop to race against each other or together on a team.

Indie Gala June Released

Indie Gala is celebrating the warm weather with Indie Gala June. The bundle contains three payment tiers, one for all buyers and two separate beat the average tiers. The bundle contains a variety of DRM free, Desura redeemable, and Steam redeemable games. All buyers will receive Creatures: The Albian Years, Pirates of the Black Cove, and a mystery title that will be announced in the second week of the sale. Those who beat the first average tier will receive Chester, Sword of the Stars: Complete Collection, Vessel, Aquanox, and an unannounced title. Those who beat the second average will also receive Star Ruler, Edna & Harvey: Harvey’s New Eyes, A New Beginning: Final Cut, and three unannounced games.

Indie Gala is donating a portion of the profits to support AbleGamers, a charity that helps disabled children and military veterans play video games.

The Indie Adventure Bundle Now Available from Bundle Stars

Bundle Stars has released a smaller bundle entitled The Indie Adventure Bundle. The bundle features five indie adventure games that can be downloaded from GamersGate and Desura. The bundle features Captain Morgane from the writer of Broken Sword, gritty comic book styled adventure Jack Orlando DC, the Jack Orlando soundtrack, sci-fi themed Reversion Double Pack containing The Escape and The Meeting, and mystery thriller Shadows on the Vatican Act 1. All five games run on Windows.

The Indie Adventure Bundle costs $3.00 and 5% of the profits will go to support SpecialEffect, a charity in the UK that helps people, both young and old, with mobility impairing disabilities enjoy video games.

Marvel: Avengers Alliance Expands to Mobile

Disney has launched the award-winning Facebook game Marvel: Avengers Alliance for the iOS. It is free for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch right now. Download here.

Soon to also hit Android devices, Marvel: Avengers Alliance features turn-based combat in a RPG experience that features a cast of more than 40 fan-favorite Marvel Super Heroes and 180 Super Villains (out-numbered much?!). The game takes place in the wake of a galaxy-wide disaster known as “the Pulse,” which exposes Manhattan to attack from the world’s most formidable villains. Players are recruited as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., to enlist and lead teams of Super Heroes, such as Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Spider-Man and more.

Players unlock Super Hero allies and abilities, train their teams, and test their mettle against the deadliest foes the world has ever seen. All of the epic story developments that have unfolded in Marvel: Avengers Alliance on Facebook are available for play on launch across over 60 crime-fighting missions, with additional missions and chapters to come. PayDay 2 Screenshots and Stills

Coming out of E3 2013, 505 Games and Overkill Software have released gameplay screens and stills of missions for the upcoming heist and FPS game, PayDay 2. You can check them all out in the gallery below.

The four new screenshots portray the freakishly alluring masquerade of robbers, entering the scene with guns blazing at policemen after the jewellery theft, a gun fight outside a house in the eerie presence of moonlight, a stealth frame between a robber aiming at a security guard within a museum and close-up of highly explosive machinery.

The seven still shots give players a closer look at the various missions within the game, from the docks to the jewellery store and interestingly a meat locker truck. The stills highlight the intense and action-packed atmosphere that is essential in all heist games, the stills below follow the armed robbers inside and outside docks as they take out SWAT guys, the jewellery store heist and shootout within the store, and two masked robbers facing the police inside the meat locker truck before demolishing the truck with flames.

Planetary Annihilation Early Access Announced

Uber Entertainment‘s Planetary Annihilation, an upcoming cross-planetary based RTS for the PC, is available today in it’s current Alpha form as part of an Early Access release. The title received overwhelming support on Kickstarter and remains one of the most highly anticipated Kickstarter projects of 2012. At first glance, it looks like it’s going to be a joyful blend of Spore and Supreme Commander, so I’m sold.

Initially, the game will only be available for Windows 64-bit operating systems, but support for the Mac OS/X and Linux platforms is said to be on the cards over the coming weeks.

For $90, players will be given instant access to the Alpha build of the game, followed by Beta and full Retail access as time goes by. Players who support the campaign through an Early Access purchase will also receive:

Bonus Unit: Theta Commander – The Theta commander is a unique shell design available only to players who purchase the game in Early Access or pre-purchase prior to retail release. A distinguishing feature that rewards players for their support.
Soundtrack: Access the PA Soundtrack by Howard Mostrom, recorded by a live orchestra. Players will receive this via digital download when the game is released.
Official Desktop Wallpaper: The Official PA wallpaper will be available in a variety of resolutions to supporting players.
Digital Artbook: A comprehensive artbook comprising of early sketches right through to full renders. Something for any serious collectors.

Uber also announced the loose release schedule for each stage of development, which sees Alpha Early Access begin on June 16th, followed by Beta Early Access on September 6th, followed by full Retail Access on December 15th.

Nintendo President says “Those worrying about used games should just make better games”

Nintendo of America’s President, Reggie Fils-Aime, has weighed in on the current used games debate which Microsoft and Sony have found themselves embroiled in. During an interview with Polygon at E3 2013, Fils-Aime explained that he believes that if companies are worried about used games hurting their profits, they should just make better games.

Fils-Aime confirmed in the interview that Nintendo titles are traded in significantly less than games of other companies, he continued on saying;

“Why is that? Because the replayability of our content is super strong. The consumer wants to keep playing Mario Kart. The consumer wants to keep playing New Super Mario Bros. They want to keep playing Pikmin. So we see that the trade-in frequency on Nintendo content is much less than the industry average—much, much less. So for us, we have been able to step back and say that we are not taking any technological means to impact trade-in and we are confident that if we build great content, then the consumer will not want to trade in our games.”
