EB Games: Xbox One “Biggest Launch in Australian Gaming History”

The Sydney skyline may have been lit green last night, but EB Games stores across the country were also being lit up… well, their cash registers were. The Xbox One has arrived, and Microsoft must be extremely pleased that EB Games are “proud to announce that this was officially the biggest launch in Australian gaming history”.

Shane Stockwell, Merchandising Director, said;

The overall vibe across the industry is one of absolute excitement. EB Games has been operating in Australia for over 15 years, and we have never seen anything remotely like this before – it’s an extremely good time to be a gamer. Demand for the console looks like it will outstrip supply in a few days, so to avoid disappointment it is essential that you get in as soon as you can. It is looking very likely that we will be sold out of stock extremely soon.

So if you’re thinking about making a late X-Mas adoption of the console, you better get in quick. National Brand, Event and Engagement Manager Debra McGrath also touched upon the launch, attributing the success to the stellar choice available to players on Day One;

What we’re seeing here is absolutely unprecedented. When you’ve got literally thousands of people showing up to hundreds of stores across the country, you know that the gaming industry is a bigger deal than it has ever been before. Right now you have games that appeal to every kind of gamer, and there’s something to satisfy everyone. You can pick up a console launch day and be able to get your hands on the likes of Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4, Assassin’s Creed, Forza and a whole range of Kinect titles. I would say that the choice available to gamers at launch is the best it has ever been. Gaming is back on the top of Christmas wishlists, and has never been so affordable at launch – which is great, as it is doing a lot to stimulate the entire industry.

Over 317 stores were open at midnight last night to launch the console, and EB Games was host to seven official launches in MacArthur Square, NSW; Knox City, VIC; Werribee Plaza, VIC; Helensvale, QLD; Tea Tree Plaza, SA; and Rockingham, WA. Stock of the Xbox One is still currently available at all EB Games stores and at www.ebgames.com.au.

“HOLD IT!” Did the left of Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies leave you hungry for more? Do you want to scream Objection at least one more time? Well Capcom have got you covered. Today, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies’ first DLC chapter; Turnabout Reclaimed, is available through the game’s menu.

Disney Infinity Toy Box Challenge Week 14

A week has gone past us already, and it is time for the awesome folks over at Disney to shower us with free Disney Infinity maps in this week’s Toy Box Challenge. As with previous weeks, there are five free maps for Disney Infinity owners to download, as well as a new Toy Box Submission Challenge, and a video that showcases the winners of the previous challenge. Without further adieu, lets get into it!

TOY BOX SUBMISSION CHALLENGE

This week’s Toy Box Submission challenge will be a tricky one. The theme for this week is Gonna Wreck It!. That’s right, time to build your best monument to Wreck-it-Ralph. Will you build the best Fix-it-Felix inspired tower, or the ultimate Sugar Rush race track. Either way, good luck!

As always, you can create and share your Toy Box creations though, using these instructions:

Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U

Bring up the Pause Menu and select “Online/Multiplayer.”
Then select “Toy Box Share” > “Disney’s Toy Boxes” > “Submit to Disney.”
Follow the prompts. You’ll be asked to give your Toy Box an original name and description. Choose carefully – they will be shown to everybody if your Toy Box is featured.

SteamWorld Dig Coming To Steam!

Image & Form, the studio behind the indie 3DS hit SteamWorld Dig, announced today that their darling will be hitting PC via Steam on December 5. The platformer held the top spot on Nintendo’s 3DS eShop and is now coming to computers for more people to enjoy.

PC and Mac gamers can hope to get the same fantastic game loved on the 3DS, but with high definition graphics. They haven’t forgotten the fantastic support they’ve received from Nintendo and its fans, though. They’ve announced that the next SteamWorld dig will release on 3DS day one.

SteamWorld Dig will be available December 5 for $9.99 / £6.99 / €8.99, with an expected release sale. For more information you can check out their official website here.

Viz celebrates One Piece becoming the world’s top selling manga

Fans of One Piece will be happy to hear that the series has reached a major milestone because as of today One Piece has become the world’s top selling manga series of all time with over 345 million copies in print around the globe. As such, Viz Media has announced that they are giving away a free gift to fans and users of the Vizmanga.com website and app with the release of One Piece Retrospective.

It has already been given to everyone registered on the website or app and will also be given to anyone who signs up between November 21st to the 27th. This retrospective features five full color art spreads as well as a collection of covers for all 69 One Piece volumes. It also features an interview with Eiichiro Oda as well as a one-shot called Strong World which shows the world of One Piece twenty years before Luffy was born.

Ys: Memories of Celceta’s latest trailer focuses on Duren

With Ys: Memories of Celceta set to be released next week both as a digital download and at retailers, XSEED Games has released a new gameplay trailer for the title which focuses on Duren. Duren is a master of information and a skilled fighter who works alongside the protagonist, Adol.

The gameplay trailer can be found below and the game itself will be available for purchase on November 26th where both a standard and limited edition version of the game will be available. As for gamers in Europe, Ys: Memories of Celceta is currently set to be released in that region sometime in 2014.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII to have Japanese voice track DLC

While most people are fine with listening to the English voice track for most games, many people prefer listening to the original Japanese voice track for games, going so far as to boycott titles that do not include a dual-audio option.

Well it looks like Square Enix is going to be offering some DLC for those who want to listen to the Japanese voice track of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. Today the company has announced that after the game is released on February 14th, they will release a Japanese voice-over pack as DLC that will be free for two weeks before turning into paid DLC.
