It has been announced that anime studio Madhouse will once again team up with powerhouse Marvel, in order to bring yet another superhero story to life. This time around, the film will shine the spotlight on two of the more badass normals to grace the comic franchise: The Punisher and Black Widow.
After interfering with a top secret mission, The Punisher is taken into custody by S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and Avenger Black Widow. At the orders of Director Nick Fury, Punisher and Black Widow are sent on a mission to stop Leviathan, a global terrorist organization that plans to sell stolen S.H.I.E.L.D. technology to the highest bidder. Now, the vigilante and spy must work together to prevent this technology from falling into the wrong hands. The fate of the world, and of the Avengers, hangs in the balance.
Black Widow is set to be voiced by Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter’s Debra Morgan) whilst The Punisher will be portrayed by Brian Bloom (Arkham Origin’s Black Mask). Both of which you can hear when the DVD and Blu-Ray release on March 25th. Harrison Wilcox, producer of the most recent Marvel anime experience Iron Man: Rise of Technovore (as well as the Ultimate Spider-Man series), had previously revealed that more collaborations were underway. How many more are yet to come is still unknown. All we can do is hope. Check out the trailer below and see that you don’t need superpowers to be a hero…just years of combat training, access to top notch weaponry and insane levels of bravery.

Based on the latest installment in the mainstream Pokemon franchise, the Pokémon Trading Card Game is set to receive a new addition itself. The aptly named Pokémon TCG: XY, is set for release February 5th and will see the inclusion of a number of new elements in the Pokemon mythos.
With the advent of the game changing Mega Evolution, it was only a matter of time before the turbo charged monsters made their way from the Nintendo 3DS into card form, ready to duke it out in detailed paper form. In other Poke-revolutionary news, the TCG will also incorporate the brand new 18th type: Fairy. Just as it has in the games, the new type will serve to shake up the balance and cause players to rethink some of their more beloved strategies.

I have such an urge to tease our friends over in North America who STILL haven’t gotten a release of Bravely Default while us over here in Australia have been playing for what seems like ages now, but I wont because I love the American RPG players and they deserve more respect than that, luckily for them it seems as though Square Enix has opened up their hearts and from the sweet, love centre of the body comes a brand-new Bravely Default trailer that focuses on the characters of the game and on their backstories.
Tiz, Agnes, Ringabel and Edea are the four main characters and they each have a special backstory that both justifies their journey with each other and allows them the strength to percevere through the tough times. Bravely Default is set to get its release in North America on the 7th of February this year which isn’t too far away! Head down to the Featured Video section below to check out the full trailer and keep playing that demo!

Titan Comics are extremely excited to announce that the hit comic book/graphic novel “Accident Man” is making a return to the shelves bigger and better than ever as a full collection release! Yes, this story about a smooth, suave and highly dangerous man will once again be available for a purchase with the only difference being that it compiles all four of the previously released issues into one big book. The collection doesn’t just feature the four issues though, it comes packed with never-before-seen art sketches and creator commentaries that will really give fans insight into both the creation of “Accident Man” and the development of comic books in general. The Official Synopsis provided by Titan Comics themselves is as follows:
The cult series returns, remastered and collected in its entirety for the first time ever!
From the writer of legendary titles Charley’s War, Marshal Law, Nemesis the Warlock and many more, with artwork by a murderer’s row of lost talent, and a cover by the indomitable Howard Chaykin! Mike Fallon is smooth, suave and sexy, and a genius at the subtle art of making an assassination look like one of those unfortunate, all-too-frequent accidents.
Handsome as James Bond, lethal as Carlos the Jacket, discrete as an air bubble to the he art. Broken neck in the shower? Poor guy probably slipped on the soap!
Written by Pat Mills and Tony Skinner as well as illustrated by John Erasmus, Martin Edmond and Duke Mighten – “Accident Man” is a clever comic that I’m sure all different comic book fans could get into. It is set for a release on the 5th of February and will be available at all good comic book retailers for $29.95 which is a great price for a collection such as this. He’s dangerous, he’s deadly but everything he does…he does in style, get ready to get your hands on “Accident Man”, coming soon.

Space☆Dandy Episode 3 – Occasionally, Even the Deceiver is Deceived, Baby
Getting into my list of favourite anime is no easy task. Unless a series turns out to be something truly special it is going to need some serious character depth and a gripping plot to be in with a chance of rubbing shoulders with such classics as Steins;Gate, Sakamichi no Apollon, and Toradora. But occasionally, a series comes along that fits none of those criteria and yet somehow tears my interest away from everything else. That anime, at the moment, is Space Dandy; the show that is lewd, brain-dead, and offers little of worth, but still has me coming back every week to see what ridiculousness lies in wait. Episode 2 didn’t strike a cord with a lot of people and raised the question how far can Space Dandy go before people begin to lose interest? Did the great anime gods listen to my prayers and get Space Dandy back on track this week?
How did you see through my flawless disguise!?!
Where episode 2 fell short was in its desperate attempt to be quirky while offering none of the high impact action that left everyone with mouths agape and towering expectations after its amazing introductory episode. Without the flourish brought about by its stunning chase scenes, Space Dandy is just an average comedy but when this episode brought them back it gave the show new life. Nobody went into Space Dandy expecting it to be a weird new take on the slice of life genre and Bones need to take note of that.
Slice of life? This anime is completely serious!
Episode 3 crash landed Dandy, Meow, and QT on another desolate planet after a desperate attempt to warp to the nearest Boobies resulted in the broken warp unit malfunctioning and sending them tearing through the universe, most likely breaking every conventional law of physics in the process. Disregarding simple matters like the ability to breath on the planet’s surface, Dandy quested forth in search of a hidden Boobies and ended up running into a beautiful woman being chased by a hoard of hideous aliens. Using his ray gun and limitless supply of bravado he “saved” her, but this glowing beauty was not all that she seemed. After scaring off an entire fleet of the Gogol Empire who had followed Dandy to the planet, a colossal beast erupted forth from her chest and consumed Meow. Dandy and QT rushed to Meow’s rescue to retrieve the Boobies point card he was holding onto and after an explosive battle involving Hawaiian Mechs and a mountain of food that was thousands of years out of date, they managed to apprehend the beast and get back their card. But … Where is Meow?
Ok, they’ve gone. Now it’s just you and me, sexy hologram.
What I found funny was how the dubbed version censored all of the breasts that made up the massive monster and yet the subbed version didn’t care for subtlety in the slightest. No trademark To-LOVE-Ru style light/shadow beams to hide the details, just a screen full of uncensored breasts. Then not long after that we got a prime example of exactly what I hoped this series would be. Space Dandy released his secret weapon, the Hawaii Yankee! His little cruiser suddenly donned a floral shirt and expanded into the single most ridiculous mech that anime has ever seen, before locking horns with the man-eating breast monster (Never have I been more concious of what I was writing than the phrase “Man-eating breast monster”). This is exactly what Space Dandy should be. Combine that with the amazing Han Solo ray gun scene where Dandy managed to miss every shot while looking impeccably fabulous and the latter half of episode 3 reminded me exactly why I went into this show so excited. It was nothing short of wonderful.
Hey monster! Thirsty? How about some Hawaiian PUNCH!
Space Dandy, like a lot of original series, is suffering from not knowing what fans like about the show. Personally, I love the space exploration side of it and if every episode revolved around the crew of the Aloha Oe ending up on a new, unexplored planet, I would be delighted. The alien-of-the-week formula suits this series perfectly and plays to its strengths rather than trying to force the uneventful slice of life formula on us which thus far has been unsupported by any character development. If it wants to be remembered for being silly, yet amazing, then Bones need to put all of their chips on the table and go all in with it or risk Space Dandy becoming nothing more than a humdrum failure that didn’t do anything right.
You do NOT want to know what I had to go through to get this…
All in all, episode 3 was a great reminder of what episode 1 built this show up to be. If the series continues like this I could forgive episode 2 and the fact that it is uncomfortably lewd at times (So … Much … Fanservice). Space Dandy still feels like it is flailing between being too immature for an older audience and too rude for a younger one, but if it can maintain the standard of episode 3, I can see it being remembered as a cult classic for years to come.
Maybe my aim would be better without the crystal meth?
Space Dandy is simulcasting in both subbed and dubbed formats and can be found airing on Adult Swim’s Toonami block or streaming on FUNimation in the US.
