Guitar Hero Live Announced

Guitar Hero is back! After the series was unfortunately milked to death towards the end of the last decade, Activision have decided to bring back the famous brand name and release an all new game. Guitar Hero Live will be the 7th main entry for the series not counting band focused editions and other portable spin offs. The last game in the series was Guitar Hero 6: Warrior’s of Rock. Development of the game is being handled by Freestyle Games, famous for crafting one of of personal favourite music games, DJ Hero.

As you will see from the announcement trailer below Guitar Hero Live maintains key aspects of the note highway of past titles but that’s about it. Nearly everything is different right down to the logo. Gone is the punk/rock warrior/80’s aesthetic the series is known for, replaced by a much cleaner, new age look not unlike SingStar. The infamous plastic guitar has also undergone some reworking. No longer will it feature 5 singly aligned buttons, but two rows of three buttons with one white row and one black row. A big Hero Power button is also placed below the strum bar. Guitar Hero Live is strictly focused on Guitar, dropping other band aspects such as drums and vocals.

The game will feature two modes. Guitar Hero Live will see you play on a massive stage in front of a real crowd. The mode incorporates real life footage of the band and crowd reacting to your performance which is pretty cool and unique, hopefully it just doesn’t get lost in the background as people are typically focused on the note highway while playing.

The other mode is called Guitar Hero TV where tracks can be played over the original music video for that song. GHTV will feature hundreds of videos at launch spanning all different genres of music, with new videos continually added to the line-up. No track list has been announced yet but we know their will be songs featured from bands such as Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Gary Clark Jr., Skrillex, The Black Keys, Fall Out Boy, The Rolling Stones, The Killers and the Lumineers. Skrillex in Guitar Hero?! We’re as confused as you are.

The game will cost $99 U.S. at launch and will be bundled with the guitar. Guitar Hero Live is coming to a very wide range of platforms including Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Wii U. A mobile version is also in the works for tablets and phones, with the guitar peripheral somehow being able to connect to those devices, maybe via Bluetooth. The game is scheduled for a late 2015 release.

Interestingly, Harmonix just last month announced Rock Band 4 for the new generation consoles. They recently praised Activision for bringing back the Guitar Hero brand and said it helped confirm now is the time to bring back these types of music games. While publican the two companies might be singing the others praises, it will no doubt be an interesting battle between Rock Band 4 and Guitar Hero Live for music game supremacy as gamers are unlikely to shell out for both games.

A Lull in the Sea Standard Editions Announced for July 14th Release

Last month NIS America announced that they would be giving Nagi no Asukara an English dub and would be calling it A Lull in the Sea when they released the premium edition on June 30th for $179.99 with the set including the series on Blu-ray and DVD, a two disc soundtrack, a 76 page art book, trailers, and clean opening and ending themes.

Now today the company has revealed that those who don’t wish to pick up the entire series in one package or simply want standard versions of the release won’t have to wait as long as usual. Instead NIS America will be releasing A Lull in the Sea Volume 1 and 2 as standard editions on July 14th.

These standard editions will come with 13 episodes each and will only be available on DVD but will still feature the English dub as well as the original Japanese voice track. Each standard edition will cost $39.99 when released but can also be bought together in a bundle for $74.98. Those interested in pre-ordering either the newly revealed standard editions or the previously announced premium edition can still do so through NIS America’s online store.

Sayonara UmiharaKawase+ Announced for US Release on April 21st

Agatsuma Entertainment has announced that they will be releasing Sayonara UmiharaKawase+ for the PlayStation Vita in North America for $19.99 on April 21st and in Europe “soon after.” The title will be released only on digital platforms in these countries but it is interesting to note that the North American release comes two days before the Japanese release of the game.

For those of you unaware of the game, Sayonara UmiharaKawase+ is a ‘complete re-working’ of the 3DS game where players control the twenty year old Japanese sushi chef Umihara Kawase who must navigate a world filled with conveyor belts, spikes, fish-like enemiesm, and more while using a fishing rod, a rubber fishing line, and a hook to get around.

You can check out a new trailer for the game below and it is worth noting that not only does this PS Vita release feature sixty “new and re-envisaged classic stages,” but it also includes bonus levels and the original 1994 UmiharaKawase as a bonus for fans.

Nitroplus Blasters: Heroine Infinite Duel Opening Movie Released

With Nitroplus Blasters: Heroine Infinite Duel set to be released in Japanese arcades this spring, the opening video for the fighting game featuring numerous characters from Nitroplus franchises battling against one another has been released.

Developed by Examu, when Nitroplus Blasters: Heroine Infinite Duel is released in arcades it will feature only eight playable characters and thirteen assisting characters but more will be added over time through network updates.

It is worth noting that, as of now, no console release for this fighting game has been announced but given Examu’s history with Arcana Hearts and Aquapazza, a console release will likely be announced sometime in the future.

Mario Kart 8 DLC Pack 2 Tracks Revealed

We learned in the most recent Nintendo Direct that the DLC for pack 2 for Mario Kart 8 will be coming out a little earlier than it’s intended May release and is now scheduled for release on April 23rd. Nintendo have released a trailer (embedded below) for the 8 new tracks we will be getting in this pack showcasing that it’s definitely worth your money.

The first four tracks listed here are all retro tracks but have received major facelifts making them near unrecognizable from their original versions, particularly the Game Boy Advance tracks. Also of note, Baby Park is not all anti-gravity, making the small loop even more chaotic as racers will receive speed boosts with each collision. The last four are brand new tracks for this pack and feature two crossover courses with Animal Crossing and Big Blue.

The tracks are:

Animal Crossing: A special Animal Crossing inspired course that changes season – spring, summer, autumn, winter – each time you race.
Big Blue: A re-mastered version of Big Blue from the F-ZERO series.
Super Bell Subway: Navigate an underground subway, and watch out for oncoming trains to reach the finish line.
Wild Woods: Drive up and down a giant tree inhabited by Toads and Shy Guys and experience a mysterious landscape.
Baby Park (GCN): High-definition remake of a course featured in Mario Kart: Double Dash! – prepare for a chaotic course comprising 7 laps.
Cheese Land (GBA): High-definition remake of a course featured in Mario Kart: Super Circuit – full of cheese-themed obstacles and even a hungry giant Chain Chomp.
Koopa City (3DS): High-definition remake of a course featured in Mario Kart 7 – drive through the pouring rain at night in a city controlled by Bowser, and decked out in dazzling neon lights.
Ribbon Road (GBA): High-definition remake of a course featured in Mario Kart: Super Circuit – set in a miniaturised world packed with ribbons and toys.

These 8 tracks will comprise the Super Bell Cup and the Animal Crossing Cup. In addition to these new tracks, buyers of the DLC will receive Villager, Isabelle and Dry Bowser as new playable characters and 4 new vehicles, the Streetle, City Tripper, Bowser Trike and P-Wing.

That’s not all though. A free update will also be made available on April 23rd that will introduce a brand new 200cc option to all modes, making each race feel more like F-Zero than Mario Kart. The mode will be available exclusively to those who have beat all cups in 150cc with gold trophies. New Mii outfits are also coming out courtesy of Amiibo for Wario, PAC-MAN, Olimar, Bowser, Sonic, Toad, Villager, Rosalina and Mega Man. Are you excited for Mario Kart 8’s incoming content? Yukiko Amagi Takes the Stage in new Persona 4: Dancing All Night Trailer

The latest character trailer for Persona 4: Dancing All Night introduces Yukiko Amagi, the close friend of Chie and the only daughter to the owners of the long-running Amagi Inn, as she implements her ballet training into her dance routines. In the trailer below you’ll see that Yukiko will have a number of different costume choices similar to rest of the characters in Persona 4: Dancing All Night.

Currently Persona 4: Dancing All Night is set to be released on the PS Vita in Japan on June 25th and Atlus USA has already announced that they plan on releasing the title in the West sometime in the future.

Moero Chronicle to be Released with English Subtitles on May 5th

Remember Moero Chronicle? It was the follow up to Monster Monpiece and despite the latter title being released in the West, Moero Chronicle was never given a shot despite being released in Japan in May 2014.

Well soon you’ll have the opportunity to play the title in English because the Asian release of Idea Factory’s game will not only feature Chinese subtitles set to the Japanese voice work, but English subtitles as well.

Currently the title, now named Moe Chronicle, is set to be released in Asia on May 5th and those looking to pick up this uncensored release can pre-order the game for $42.99 from Play-Asia. It is worth noting that since the PlayStation Vita is not region locked when it comes to retail releases, this Asian release will work on any Vita.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 PS Vita Release Coming this Summer

Since the entirety of Resident Evil Revelations 2 was released back in March it is easy to forget that alongside the title’s release on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC, that Capcom‘s game was also supposed to be released on the PlayStation Vita at some point. Now a month after the retail release of the episodic game it appears that we have at least some sort of release window for the PS Vita version of Resident Evil Revelations 2.

Sony has released an update saying that the PS Vita port will be released sometime in the Summer and is being handled by Frim Studio. When released it will contain all four episodes as well as any DLC released for the game though currently the Raid Mode will be single-player only when it is released but they are “most likely” going to patch co-op in post-launch. Those interested in whether or not the title will be worth picking up can check out our review of the Xbox One version of the title here.

NIS America to Bring Devil Survivor 2, Etrian Mystery Dungeon, and more to Europe

NIS America has announced that they are bringing a number of Atlus USA’s titles over to Europe though fans in these regions will still have to wait a bit longer than their US counterparts as all of the release dates are currently set for late 2015 and early 2016.

NIS America will be releasing three Nintendo 3DS games in the form of Etrian Mystery Dungeon in Fall 2015, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker in Fall 2015, and Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight in early 2016. They will also be releasing the recently announced Dungeon Travelers 2: The Royal Library & the Monster Seal in Fall 2015.

Dungeon Travelers 2 Coming to North America this Summer

Atlus USA has announced that they will be bringing Dungeon Travelers 2: The Royal Library & the Monster Seal to the PlayStation Vita in North America this summer where it will be available both at retail and digitally. This 2014 game is a port of the 2013 PSP RPG that never saw release in the West.

Developed by AquaPlus, players take on the role of Fried, an adventurer from the Royal Library as he forms a party of female warriors, mages, and more to fight against monsters that have stared to roam the land. Each of the girls is one of five base classes and can branch into more than thirty different sub-classes as you advance in the game.

While exploring dungeons players will also be able to trigger sub-events that will serve as character development between Fried and the girls he is with. When the title is released it will feature the original Japanese voice track with English subtitles.
