zero-escape-3-artwork-001

Today during their panel at Anime Expo Aksys Games had news for fans that have often been seen asking for the continuation of a certain series. The company, and Zero Escape series director Kotaro Uchikoshi, announced Zero Escape Volume 3 for release on the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita.

Currently the team is aiming to have Zero Escape Volume 3 released with both English and Japanese voice work sometime in Summer 2016. Being the third game in the series, the title will feature familiar faces, multiple endings, and puzzle solving that will “be vital to your survival.”

Thankfully with nearly a year until the game is slated to come out, those wanting to get into the series have plenty of time to go back and play the previous games 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors and Virtue’s Last Reward.

When Project X Zone 2 was first announced by Bandai Namco the company originally planned to have the title released in the West sometime in fall 2015 but it seems that is no longer the case as the company has announced that the English version of the title has been pushed back to early 2016.

We do have a bit of good news for those waiting for Project X Zone 2 in English as the company has released a new seven minute long trailer for the title showing off some of the crossover characters and the “Mirage Cancel” system that allows players to land critical blows a bit easier and you can check that out below as well as a bunch of new Japanese screenshots.

Shenmue III Kickstarter Adds PlayStation 4 Physical Copies

shenmue-iii-ps4-copy

When the Shenmue III Kickstarter launched it quickly broke past the initial funding goal and seemed to be rising at a rather alarming rate despite the rather bland stretch-goals that were revealed by the developer especially since a retail copy goal was never announced and funding has since slowed.

Thankfully that has now changed as the campaign has been updated with a $60 “Special Backer Edition” where those who pledge $60 or higher can opt for a physical copy of Shenmue III for the PlayStation 4. The developer has stated that after funding closes a survey will be sent to people at these pledge levels whether they want a physical PS4 copy, PC physical copy, or a digital copy for either platform.

Charizard & Weavile Added to Pokken Tournament Roster

pokken-tournament-charizard-promo-01

In no surprise to anyone, popular Generation 1 mascot Charizard is the latest character to be announced for the as-of-yet Japanese only arcade fighting game, Pokken Tournament. Joining him will be one of the fastest Pokemon in the game, the Dark/Ice type Weavile. Both characters were announced in a recent Japanese stream. You can find trailers for both the new characters as well as the opening movie for the game below. They will be joining Pikachu, Lucario, Suicune, Gardevoir, Machamp and Gengar as the list of confirmed fighters slowly grows.

Charizard is a power based Pokemon that uses powerful physical attacks as well as its ability to breathe fire to cause trouble for it’s opponents. It’s Burst Attack allows it to take the form of Mega Charizard X, which seems to have even more powerful fire related abilities.

Weavile is a speed based Pokemon that seems to use it’s sharp claws to attack quickly and relentlessly. It also seems able to use it’s Ice typing to launch projectiles.

It was also confirmed that Whimsicott and Jirachi will be non-playable support Pokemon. Pokken Tournament is being developed by Bandai Namco who are of course famous for the Tekken series. The game also has an official release date now and will launch in arcades Japan wide on July 16th.

We are hoping a Wii U port will make it’s way to international markets at some point in the future. With the release date so close we don’t expect too many more roster announcements now so that might be it. You can check out our mock roster which has done pretty well so far. We placed Charizard in the included characters list and Weavile in our honorable mentions.

Gate, School-Live!, To Love Ru Darkness 2nd, and More Anime Licensed by Sentai Filmworks

gate-screenshot-001

During their panel at Anime Expo Sentai Filmworks announced that they had acquired a number of Summer 2015 anime titles for future release. The first of these titles includes Gate: Jie-tai Ka no Chi ni te, Kaku Tatakaeri, the second season of To Love Ru Darkness, School-Live!, Ushio & Tora, Wakaba Girl, and Aoharu x Machinegun.

Currently Crunchyroll is set to stream all of these series in the United States and Canada though at the moment the only series that has started airing at this point is Gate. Earlier in the day Sentai Filmworks also announced the licensing of both Higurashi – When They Cry, and the classic series The Legend of Galactic Heroes.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes Anime and Higurashi Anime Licensed by Sentai

higurashi-when-they-cry-screenshot-007

It seems that fans of the Legend of the Galactic Heroes series will have the best chance to acquire as much of the original material possible in the coming years. Not only has Viz Media announced that they will begin releasing the original novel series starting in spring 2016, but Sentai Filmworks has announced that they have licensed the Legend of the Galactic Heroes anime series.

For those looking for a little something else, Sentai also announced that they had acquired the rights to both seasons of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, also known as Higurashi – When They Cry. This isn’t the first time that someone has tried to release Higurashi – When They Cry in North America, as the series was originally released by FUNimation seven years ago but let the license slip a few years later.
