Celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. series by creating and sharing your Super Mario levels with players around the world

11th September 2015 – The Super Mario Bros. series arrives on Wii U tomorrow in the shape of Super Mario Maker, the game that lets the imagination of fans run wild by bringing their very own Super Mario levels to life.

To date, the Super Mario series has sold more than 310 million copies globally, with Mario, one of the world’s most recognisable entertainment characters, at its centre. With the release of Super Mario Maker, friends – for the first time ever – can have fun playing through Super Mario levels they create for one another! With the game containing a toolkit packed with iconic Mario enemies, items and areas at their disposal, fans can share their creations online, while checking out and rating an almost limitless supply of levels constructed by fellow players from across the globe.

Aside from the game releasing at retail and on Nintendo eShop for Wii U as a standalone product, there are a range of other purchase options for fans who want to get involved with the level-creating fun:

  • Super Mario Maker Wii U Premium Pack: a black Wii U Premium console, a physical copy of Super Mario Maker, a Hardcover Artbook and a Classic Colours Mario amiibo from the Mario 30th Anniversary Collection (SRP AU$439.95)
  • Super Mario Maker Limited Edition Pack: a physical copy of Super Mario Maker, a Hardcover Artbook and a Classic Colours Mario amiibo from the Mario 30th Anniversary Collection (SRP AU$89.95)

The Classic Colours Mario amiibo from the Mario 30th Anniversary Collection will also be available on its own from 12th September, while the Modern Colours variant will go on sale from 24th October.

Super Mario Maker releases just in time for a special landmark on 13th September, when video game fans from all over the world will be toasting the 30th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. series. With three decades having passed since the Japanese release of Super Mario Bros. in 1985, and Mario having traversed hundreds of memorable levels and defeated the dastardly villain Bowser on countless occasions, fans can check out some classic Mario moments over at the Super Mario Bros. 30th Anniversary website.

Meanwhile, none other than the creator of the Super Mario series himself, Shigeru Miyamoto, has been helping clear up some long-running fan debates in his own inimitable way in a “Mario Myths with Mr Miyamoto” video.

Whether it’s littering a level with multiple Bowsers, transforming Mario into other Nintendo characters such as Pikmin, Wii Fit Trainer or Link using an in-game Mystery Mushroom item, or creating custom sound effects to insert into a level, with Super Mario Maker it’s the first time in 30 years that fans get to write the rules! Releasing this Saturday, fans picking up a copy of the game at retail can even learn more about the boundless possibilities in the game by perusing a Hardcover Artbook* coming with their copy of the game.

For more information on Super Mario Maker, please visit the game’s website.

Note to Editors:
* For fans who purchase Super Mario Maker on Nintendo eShop, a PDF of the Artbook will be made available for download on the Super Mario Maker website.

Pumped BMX+ Landing on Consoles and PC Starting September 18th

Big-Screen Follow-up to Acclaimed Mobile BMX Series to Make Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Wii U and PC Debut

LONDON – September 10, 2015 – Indie developer YEAHUS, in conjunction with Curve Digital, the world’s largest publisher of indie games on console, today announced that Pumped BMX+ will hit digital storefronts worldwide on Xbox One and PC on September 18, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation 3 on September 22, and on Wii U on September 24. Pumped BMX+ takes everything that made the original series so well-loved and brings it up to date for the console generation.

Pumped BMX+ is the latest in the series that has captivated both the BMX and gaming communities alike. The original games first appeared on iPhone and Android to considerable success, hitting the number one spot in over 20 countries and being downloaded millions of times.

Like its inspiration, Pumped BMX+ boats 50 heart-in-mouth courses, a comprehensive collection of authentic tricks, and 500 in-game challenges, but the console and PC debut comes with completely redesigned control system which makes pulling off epic rides a real pleasure. In addition, every visual aspect of the game has been enhanced with completely new art and animations, as well as a fully-licensed soundtrack from up-and-coming artists to complete the package. Players will also have access to online leaderboards, enabling them to brag to their friends, and completing the game’s many achievements will provide a test for the very best virtual BMXers.

“I began designing the original game in between jobs – and the fact it’s become such a global success is still unbelievable,” says Adam Hunt, Founder of YEAHUS. “I wrote the game purely because, as a keen BMXer myself, the one I wanted to play didn’t exist. I can’t quite believe it’ll soon be sitting alongside the likes of FIFA, Grand Theft Auto and Metal Gear Solid – it’s quite surreal.”

“The reaction we’ve been seeing to Pumped BMX+ when we’ve shown it to the public is really exciting,” adds Jason Perkins, Managing Director of Curve Digital. “The game’s heritage is without question – and we’re excited to be involved in bringing the franchise to console and PC audiences.”

Pumped BMX+ will hit digital storefronts worldwide on Xbox One and PC on September 18, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation 3 on September 22, and on Wii U on September 24, and will retail for $9.99, €9.99, and £7.99. 20 percent launch discounts will be available for the first two weeks post-launch.

The latest trailer for the game can be found at: https://youtu.be/uHkiMh-w63o

Austin Wintory Composes Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate Score

Assassins-Creed-Syndicate-Screenshot-01

Ubisoft have revealed that Austin Wintory, the Grammy-nominated composer for Journey, has scored the upcoming video game Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, which will be available worldwide on October 23 for Xbox One and Playstation 4 and coming to Windows PC on November 19.

Inspired by the more intimate music of the mid-19th Century, Wintory’s score is more than 3 hours and is highly dynamic based on each player’s emotional experience throughout the game. In the soundtrack, the composer has brought forth the prowess and sarcasm of the game’s lead characters, Jacob and Evie Frye, and used waltzing music to portray deadly combat as a dance between the huntress and her prey, to reflect this playful yet violent energy.

Wintory explains his passion for chamber music from the 19th Century, “the intensity one can get from this sort of music is quite distinct from the massive force of an orchestra. You’re right in the face of a handful of brilliant players, each exploding with energy. Yet, because of its intimacy it can also sneak up on you in ways a lumbering orchestra can’t. It’s a dramatically tactile experience which seemed practically tailor-made for a tale of Victoria Era sibling Assassins”

Meet Austin Wintory in the video below, and witness his amazing work as he shares elements of his score for the next installment of the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

Forza Motorsport 6 Offering ‘Drive to Win’ for Australian Fans

forza-motorsport-6-screenshot-06

Just under a week from release, you can literally taste the pavement in Forza Motorsport 6. I guess I have already had a taste as I loved the game and you can see our very own review here. Back on track, Xbox announced today that ten gamers will score a trip to one of the most challenging and iconic races in the world, the Super Cheap Auto Bathurst 1000 in NSW Australia. Sounds great, right? Here are the details:

To celebrate the launch of the highly-anticipated Forza Motorsport 6 on Xbox One, players will be invited to take part in an in-game challenge for the chance to win this once in a lifetime opportunity. Winners will travel to Australia to experience one of the biggest days in the international touring car calendar, as racing legend Marcos Ambrose and Xbox Racing Team lead driver Scott Pye, challenge the V8 Supercar field in the Xbox Racing #17 Ford Falcon FG X.

To earn a chance to win, players must complete the ‘Forza Drive to Win/Xbox One Bathurst Challenge’ rivals event in-game, racing the 2015 Xbox Racing #17 Ford Falcon FG X around Mount Panorama by 11.59pm on September 29th, 2015, AEST. Those lucky few will then go on to compete live at the Super Cheap Auto Bathurst 1000 for the fastest lap of the track on Forza Motorsport 6, the most realistic racing experience available. The high speed, iconic street circuit is considered to be one of the world’s most challenging courses for its combination of narrow sections and steep grades, both of which have been laser-scanned and built from the ground-up for Xbox One.

Ten fans from around the world that complete the in-game rivals event will be drawn at random to attend the Super Cheap Auto Bathurst 1000, October 11-15, 2015, including two from the United States, two from the United Kingdom, one from New Zealand, and five from Australia. Winners will receive a trip for themselves and a friend to the Super Cheap Auto Bathurst 1000, and the chance to score USD$5,000 in prize money, as well as have their Gamertag emblazoned on the official Xbox race car and the track itself.

Winners will also get the chance to meet Ambrose and Pye and challenge their Super Cheap Auto Bathurst 1000 qualifying times on Forza Motorsport 6.

And there you go. Remember when you grab the game to ensure you get entered by following those lovely instructions, and pick up Forza next week when it launches on the Xbox One.

Servant x Service Manga to be Released in Print

0

servant-x-service-volume-1-2-covers

Karino Takatsu is best known for creating the Working!! series (which has been given three anime seasons) but another series from the author, Servant x Service, was given a chance a couple years ago in 2013 with a one season anime. Only problem is, none of Takatsu’s original manga series have been released in the West, only the aforementioned anime adaptations have been.

Thankfully that is about to change as Yen Press has announced that they will be releasing the Servant x Service manga in print starting on April 2016. They will be releasing the series in omnibus format with two volumes being combined into one release at a time.

Since only four volumes of the Servant x Service manga were produced, this means that only two omnibus releases will be needed to complete the series though at the moment Yen Press has not stated when the second set will be released.
