Big Ant Studios announces comedic action-adventure game Masquerade: The Baubles of Doom

Old-School Brawler-Platformer Coming to Consoles and PC on April 20

MELBOURNE – March 3, 2016 – Big Ant Studios has revealed Masquerade: The Baubles of Doom, an original, third-person action video game with an emphasis on swift-paced brawling, platforming and puzzles. Players can combo together fast-flowing attacks, counters, dodges, hammer throws, takedowns and superpowers against huge, varied groups of enemy forces. The journey also includes treacherous terrain to traverse and environmental challenges that test players’ logic and reflexes.

“Masquerade is a call back to those classic 3D action games that were all about larger-than-life characters and personalities,” said Mark Bracken, Executive Vice President of Big Ant Studios. “We wanted to deliver a game with both heavy hits and lighthearted adventure, something that’s simultaneously fun to play and fun to experience.”

The game stars a hammer-wielding, quip-slinging jester named Jaxx, whose quest to stop the evil Clown Army from claiming an artifact of supreme power will take him across the Realm to save it.

Masquerade: The Baubles of Doom is expected to launch on April 20 as a digital release on the PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment systems on the PlayStation®Store, Xbox One and Xbox 360 through the Xbox Games Store, and Windows PC via Steam. Curve Digital unveils Manual Samuel, a comedy physics adventure from newcomers Perfectly ParaNormal

Curve Digital unveils Manual Samuel, a comedy physics adventure from newcomers Perfectly ParaNormal

QWOP meets Monkey Island in this brilliantly original tale of redemption, coming to consoles and PC this summer

March 3rd, 2016 – London, United Kingdom

Samuel is just an ordinary guy. He has a job, a girlfriend, his health – nothing at all to complain about. Until, that is, he is knocked over and killed, at which point things become a little more complicated.

You see, far from that being the end of the story – it’s literally the beginning, as Xbox One, PlayStation and PC owners will soon find out, thanks to Perfectly ParaNormal’s brilliant new dexterity-based adventure game, due to be published by Curve Digital this summer.

Following a meeting with Death Himself, Sam is offered a deal: live for 24 hours manually, or have his soul tortured in hell for all eternity. How could he possibly refuse?

Manual Samuel is the story of those 24 hours, with players assuming control of the titular hero has he attempts to navigate his normal life performing everything manually. Breathe in, breath out, move left leg, right leg, blink, work, kiss, even piss… all of Sam’s bodily functions are controlled by the player.

It’s a brilliant premise, created with love, flair and a gleeful sense of humour which combines scripted events with emergent gameplay to create an adventure unlike any other. The tasks Sam must perform to get through his day may be mundane – but operating everything manually takes real skill, and the situations players will find themselves in will differ hugely.

“I fell in love with Manual Samuel the moment I saw it,” says Simon Byron, publishing director, Curve Digital. “It’s almost as much fun to watch as it is to play, brimming with unique touches, gleeful one-liners, hysterical set pieces and even song and dance numbers. I’ve not seen a game so happy to go out of its way to set up a joke – honestly, it’s impossible to play without laughing.”

Perfectly ParaNormal is a small game and animation studio based in Hamar, Norway, that focuses on comedy and characters, formed with the aim of proving that 2D animation isn’t dead. Manuel Samuel is the company’s first game.

“We’ve been really impressed with the enthusiasm for Manual Samuel that the team at Curve has shown,” adds Ozan Drøsdal, writer, Perfectly ParaNormal. “Curve’s support has enabled us to focus on creating a game that we wanted to make – and we’re excited to see the reaction to Samuel and his manual adventures once the game releases this summer. One thing is for sure – we’re all in deep faeces.”

Manual Samuel will be published by Curve Digital for PC and consoles this summer.

New “Attack on Titan” mobile game coming in 2016

EVERETT, WA – GameSamba, NGames Interactive Limited, and Funimation Entertainment have announced today that they are working with Kodansha to develop and publish an officially licensed mobile game based on “Attack on Titan.” The “Attack on Titan” game will be available in all major English markets for Android and iOS devices, and is expected to be released by the end of 2016.

The “Attack on Titan” game will be an action-driven title, allowing players all over the world to battle titans on their mobile devices. It will combine elements of runner and action games, in order to replicate the feeling of the titan battles from the anime series. Players will need to use careful planning – and quick reactions – to survive. There will also be deeper, persistent elements to the game, which will be revealed at a later date.

“We’re very excited to work with NGames and GameSamba to create a game based on the wildly popular ‘Attack on Titan’ franchise,” said Gen Fukunaga, CEO of Funimation Entertainment. “With more than 50 million copies of the manga in print, a 25 episode anime series, and last year’s live action films, we’re excited to show fans what we can do with a game.”

GameSamba, NGames, and Funimation previously announced two, officially licensed mobile games based on “Fairy Tail” and “Tokyo Ghoul,” and an officially licensed web game based on “Fairy Tail.” These three games are set to release in 2016 – the “Fairy Tail” mobile and web games will be available in multiple languages worldwide and the “Tokyo Ghoul” game will be available in English worldwide.

More details about the games will be revealed in the coming months. To stay up to date on the development of the games, fans can stay tuned to the GameSamba website and Facebook page.

Trillion: God of Destruction Screens Introduce Ashmedia and Mammon

trillion-god-of-destruction-screenshot-(32)

Idea Factory International has doubled down on this set of character introduction screenshots for Trillion: God of Destruction as the company has decided to introduce two more Overlords that will join in the fight against Trillion. The first of which is Ashmedia who is the Overlord of Lust, and certainly lives up to it. She flirts and teases “little Zeabolos” to no end, but it’s hard to tell if she’s serious or not. She even takes this lust into battle – there’s nothing more satisfying than hearing the death cry of an enemy caused by her floating spear-like weapons, appropriately named Incu and Succu. For her, the thought of taking down an enemy as big as Trillion would be the ultimate petite mort.

trillion-god-of-destruction-screenshot-(36)

The second one is Mammon, the boisterous Overlord of Greed. Though she’s tasked to keep watch at the Gates of Hell with Perpell, she’s more often than not abandoned that post in order to seek out treasures in the Underworld – which may have been a saving grace when Trillion invaded. Now she turns her twin daggers to Trillion so she can become the Great Overlord and acquire all of the Underworld’s treasures.

Trillion: God of Destruction is currently set to be released on the PlayStation Vita on March 29th in North America and in Europe on April 1st.

Collaborative Cross-Platform Physics Conundrum Dreii to Launch on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in Europe and North America on March 9th

Collaborative Cross-Platform Physics Conundrum Dreii to Launch on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in Europe and North America on March 9th

Dreii Arrives on PlayStation Consoles with Cross-Buy and Cross-Play Between PS4 and PS Vita!

Zurich, Switzerland — March 3rd, 2016 — Swiss developer Etter Studio, in collaboration with publisher Bitforge, today announced that Dreii, the award-winning physics conundrum, launches on PS4 and PS Vita in Europe and North America on March 9th. Dreii is a puzzling game that connects players in real-time across the world to help each other with logic and skill in a battle against gravity and is already available through Steam on PC, Mac, Linux, on the App Store for iOS and Google Play Store for Android. Dreii will be launching for Wii U later in Spring 2016.

“We can’t wait to see PlayStation players on console and handheld, working collectively to solve Dreii’s geometric physics puzzles”,  said Game Designer Christian Etter. “Dreii is founded on one thing – connecting players in real-time across the world to help one another in a battle against gravity”.

In Dreii your mission is simple: build a tower to a specified point and hold it there. Sounds too easy? Like anything in life, things get in the way of reaching your goals, including gravity, explosives, magnetism, thunderstorms and incompetent colleagues. Featuring cross-platform play on PlayStation devices, Dreii allows friends to play on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita together. The PlayStation version also features Cross-Buy, so owners of both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita can purchase the game once, but download it on both systems!

What’s more, Dreii is not only cross-platform but cross-cultural with a universal communication tool that allows players to speak to others, wherever they are in the world with simple words that get translated into 19 different languages. Each player also has his or her very own instrument, as avatars work together to form Dreii’s unique universal orchestra, creating a unique musical landscape, inspired by archaic instruments and ancient melodies.

Launched in 2013, the concept study of Drei won the Swiss Game Award (2013), European Design Award (2014) and was a finalist at the IGF (2014), IndieCade (2014) and SXSW (2014).  In 2015 PewDiePie, the most followed YouTuber of all times, titled it “coolest puzzle game ever”.

Dreii will translate player’s communication instantly across 19 languages: Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Rhaeto-Romanic, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Swiss-German and Turkish. Dreii will be available on PSN for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita for £9.49, €11.99 and $11.99.

Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book Trademark Filed in Europe

atelier-sophie-the-alchemist-of-the-mysterious-book-logo

It seems that fans waiting for the next new Atelier game won’t have to wait much longer. I say this because Koei Tecmo has filed a trademark in Europe for Atelier Sophie ~ The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book ~ which obviously relates to the most recently released game in Japan, Atelier Sophie, which was released for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita back on November 19th.

The trademark included the above logo which is another real good hint thanks to the silhouette matching the main character, though it is worth noting that at the moment Koei Tecmo has not officially announced the game’s release in the West
