Sentai Filmworks Licenses ‘Rin-Ne 2’

Sentai Filmworks has announced its acquisition of the second season of Rin-Ne. Animated by Brains Base and adapted from Rumiko Takahashi’s original manga series, this season is a direct continuation of the first season. Rumiko Takahashi is known for famous works such as Urusei Yatsura, Ranma ½ and Inuyasha. The series is scheduled to begin broadcast in Japan in April 2016. A home video release will follow at a later date.

The first season of the animated adaptation aired in Japan from April to September last year. It ran for 25 episodes, and Sentai Filmworks licensed the season shortly after the broadcast of the first episode.

PlayStation VR coming October 2016, Price Announced

At GDC 2016 Sony have finally unveiled their full release plans on their upcoming PlayStation VR Peripheral. The device will be coming in Octoober 2016 at a price points of $399.99USD/£349.99/€399.99/AUD$549.95/NZD$629.95. This is a bit later than Sony intended to launch but at this fair price point (in my opinion) this seems like a fair trade off.

Sony also announced that they have over 230 developers working on VR content including small indie teams to AAA publishers. They are expecting to have over 50 games available at lunch until the end of 2016. A PlayStationVR Demo Disc will come with all units featuring some small experiences from what is being called the best of the line up. This is in addition the Playroom VR which will be a free download for all PS VR owners at launch. Playroom VR will include 6 games that are meant to be enjoyed with other people.

In the box, people can expect to get:

Of importance to note, this bundle will not include the PlayStation Camera or a DualShock 4, both of which are required to use PlayStation VR alongside a PlayStation 4 console. Sony Australia has commented it will work with retailers to provide appropriate bundles. The decision to not include the camera was a conscious one, saying that the early adopters most likely to purchase PlayStation VR will most likely already own the PS Camera, a hard logic to argue with.

So yeah, the future we all thought would happen 20 years ago is coming to fruition. Exciting stuff. UPDATE: The PlayStation VR is able to be used as a screen for any PS4 title basically making any game playable in your own private home theater room.

All Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes characters and round Power Discs are fully compatible with the Play Set. Marvel Battlegrounds is available for a suggested retail price of $34.95 AUD/$44.99 NZD.  Each Marvel character figure (RRP: $17.95 AUD/$24.99 NZD each) and the Marvel Battlegrounds themed Power Disc Pack (RRP: $11.95 AUD/$15.99 NZD) are sold separately. The Play Set requires the latest Disney Infinity software update in order to play. Software updates require Internet connection.

In the original storyline of Marvel Battlegrounds, Ultron teams up with Loki in an effort to steal Wakanda’s most valuable resource, Vibranium. Sydney, Australia – March 16, 2016 – Today, Ubisoft announced ongoing record sell-through sales for Tom Clancy’s The Division, which has grossed more than $330 million  worldwide in its first five days*. Having already broken Ubisoft sales records in the first 24 hours following its release, The Division is now the company’s best-selling game and the industry’s best-selling new game franchise in an opening week.

“The Division taking the top spot in the industry for first week sales of a new franchise is a tremendous achievement. LEGO® Dimensions™ Powers Up Gameplay with Midway Arcade Level Pack

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced today the release of the new LEGO® Dimensions™ Midway Arcade™ Level Pack and highly collectable DC Comics™ Superman and DC Comics Aquaman and Ghostbusters™ Stay Puft Fun Packs. Players can customise their building and gaming adventures in LEGO Dimensions with the purchase of these Wave 4 expansion packs which provide additional gameplay, buildable characters, and rebuildable 3-in-1 vehicles and gadgets with special in-game abilities. All expansion packs provide gamers the opportunity to use everything interchangeably, anywhere throughout the game, for a crazy mash-up multiverse.

The Ghostbusters Stay Puft Fun Pack comes with the first-ever buildable Stay Puft minifigure and Terror Dog.  Players can become everyone’s favourite marshmallow man and activate his Hazard Protection, Big Transform and Super Strength abilities to solve puzzles and battle enemies.  The Terror Dog can be called in as back-up and rebuilt as the Terror Dog Destroyer and Soaring Terror Dog for upgraded powers in the game.  The pack also allows access to the Ghostbusters Adventure World where gamers can play as any one of the four Ghostbusters characters.

(SCEI) today announced that PlayStation®VR (PS VR), a virtual reality system that takes the PlayStation®4 (PS4™) to the next level of immersion, will launch in, Japan, North America, Europe  Asia, Australia and New Zealand in October 2016 with an Australian recommended retail price of $549.95 AUD*1.

Gears fans, the wait is almost over. We know you’ve been eager to see what’s in store for the future of Gears multiplayer, and next month, we’re excited to give you the first taste and an opportunity to help shape the multiplayer experience in Gears of War 4 with the launch of our global Versus multiplayer beta, exclusively on Xbox One.

Beginning on April 18, fans who’ve played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One or Windows 10 will begin to receive tokens in waves for early access to the beta. Following the conclusion of early access on April 24, all qualifying Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox One will be invited to join the beta until it ends on May 1.

In addition, we’re extending the timeframe for Gears of War: Ultimate Edition players to qualify for early access to the Gears of War 4 beta from March 1 to April 11. To qualify, just log on to Xbox Live and play Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One or Windows 10 by 4 p.m. AEDT, April 12.*

Season 2 Finals and Fan Activities at PAX East

We are also excited to announce that we will be joining you at PAX East in Boston and will be hosting a variety of fan activities, including:

  • The Gears eSports ESL Pro League Season 2 finals will be LIVE from Boston at PAX East on Saturday, April 23.  Fans can tune into the Gears of War Twitch channel to watch the best Gears of War ESL Pro teams square off for the championship title. We are also excited to announce we will be increasing the prize pool for Season 2 to $60,000 thanks to fan support of our Season 2 bundles! During the stream, we will also debut the worldwide exclusive reveal of a new competitive game mode for Gears of War 4. Those watching from home can tune into the stream for instructions on how to get the special Season 2 Finals weapon skin and a chance to win a limited edition custom Gears of War 4
  • The Out of the Shadows: Inside Gears of War Multiplayer with The Coalition panel on Sunday, Apr. 24 at 10:30am PDT in the Albatross Theater featuring a deeper dive in Gears of War 4 multiplayer and some special surprises.  We’ll also be offering up some great prizes to any of our fans who turn up in Gears of War Cosplay! SEATTLE, WA – Tuesday, March 15, 2016 – Studio Wildcard, the dev team that created the smash hit ARK: Survival Evolved (PC, Xbox One, PS4), is taking dinosaur survival mayhem into the new era of eSports. Available now on Steam Early Access and in-development for consoles, ARK: Survival of the Fittest is a free, standalone, multiplayer online survival arena (M.O.S.A.) game that pits as many as 72 combatants against one another in spontaneous Hunger Games-style competitions within a closed battlefield.

“Following the success of the tournaments we hosted last fall, we saw valuable community feedback about other competitive features they wanted to see implemented,” said Jesse Rapczak, co-founder, co-creative director, Studio Wildcard. “Now with shorter matches, four new game modes, rapid dino taming and more, we felt it was time to let people come in to test it for themselves. Not only can you play for free, but we’re offering cash prizes for the top players in each Survivor League, so ARK survivors can potentially start playing their favorite game professionally!”

Built for the burgeoning wild west of eSports competition, ARK: SotF challenges gamers to fight each other and the Jurassic environment that players loved in ARK: Survival Evolved. However, rather than a huge open world to survive in, this newly refactored game is an epic dinosaur survival arena with a continually shrinking “ring of death.” In the end, survivors are eventually pushed into an epic final showdown where only one “Tribe” will make it out alive.

Survivors can form one- to six-person Tribes with the options to choose Unofficial and Official (Ranked) servers, and a variety of game-lengths and sizes in which to play. Players will start in the base forest environment introduced in the original ARK: Survival Evolved, with new environments and creatures introduced regularly as the game evolves. Dedicated eSport ranking, matchmaking, reward, and tournament features make ARK: SotF readily accessible to all players.

As part of the ongoing Survival of the Fittest eSport competitive initiative, each month the Top-10 Ranked players in each game mode’s “Survivor League” will be awarded cash prize winnings corresponding to their Ranked placement. The ongoing Rankings for these elite titles will be visible in real-time on SurviveTheArk.com at launch.

After a count-down, they dramatically descend from the sky onto the ARK in a circular formation via beams of light. There is a cache of valuable items in the center do survivors dash for the goods and fight it out, do they run into the forest and hide, search for dinosaurs to rapidly build their army, or do they freeze up from the sheer terror of death? The continually shrinking arena boundaries force contestants ever closer together over time. The hunt is on!
