Survival Co-op Game The Wild Eight Now on Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight

the-wild-eight-promo-art-001

Indie developers 8 Points has announced the launch of The Wild Eight’s Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight campaigns. The team hopes to raise over $50,000 on Kickstarter to complete development on the game. Stretch goals include increasing the size and scope of the game and a day one console release. Currently, the planned release date for the Linux, Mac, and Windows build is late 2016, early 2017, with a console release after that.

The Wild Eight is a top down co-op survival game with a twist. Eight players are plunged into the Alaskan wilderness after a plane crash. Not only must they survive the harsh winter, there is a cannibal among the group who is desperately craving human flesh. The game will feature a full story with plenty of side quests, a deep skill tree, and a complex crafting system.

The game looks like an interesting mash up of the ever popular survival genre with elements of the classic party game Mafia. It is pretty rare to see an eight player co-op game, which may make this the perfect game for LAN parties. I’m curious how long a full run of the game is expected to take, as coordinating eight players for a long term game can be difficult. Considering the game has pulled in over $9,000 on the first day of their Kickstarter campaign and Kicktraq is predicting a successful campaign, we may find out soon enough!

The highly anticipated 3.50 system update for PlayStation 4 is out now. The update tweaks some of the social features to allow players to appear offline, get notifications when specific friends log on, schedule events, and see what party members are playing. To coincide with the PlayStation 4 3.50 software release, the PlayStation App has been updated to reflect the new social features.

The most important feature being added with the 3.50 update is the Remote Play functionality. Using Mac or Windows, gamers can play their PS4 games by downloading the Remote Play software and plugging in a DualShock 4 controller via USB to their computer. Depending on network speeds, the following options are available:

  • Resolution options: 360p, 540p, 720p
  • Frame rate : Standard (30fps), High (60fps)

By default, the software streams at 540p at 30 FPS.

If you happen to be a fan of classic strategy RPGs then you may be interested in the latest game to be placed on Kickstarter. The title is called Arcadian Atlas and it is a pixel style tactical role playing game that features dynamic job classes, a “rich character driven narrative,” combat that takes place on a grid-based battlefield and a soundtrack made up of jazz infused tunes.

If you check out the Kickstarter page, you’ll see that many elements of Arcadian Atlas harken back to the classic SRPGs from years ago where players will need to take advantage of positioning, height advantages, class advantages and more in order to succeed in battle, especially since it appears that a lot of attention has been put into making sure that character classes will play a significant role in the game as characters will be able to evolve into various advanced classes as they grow stronger.

Currently Arcadian Atlas is seeking $90,000 in funding and has currently made $14,470 at the time of writing. Those who wish to support the project will find that a copy of the game, which will be released on PC, Mac, and Linux if funded, can be secured for $20 though higher tier rewards offer various physical bonuses and in-game items such as the ability to design items or obtain a “Raccooninator,” a weapon that can turn enemies into raccoons.

Although many of the characters that are appearing in MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies will be familiar for longtime fans of the series, the title does sport a few fresh faces compared to the last action oriented game. As such Idea Factory International has released a new batch of screenshots for the PS Vita title focusing entirely on these fresh additions to the roster.

In the images below you’ll see Plutia, Peashy, Uzume, and Tamsoft fighting against many enemies and even transforming into their HDD forms, well outside of Tamsoft that is. MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies is currently slated to be released in North America on May 10th and in Europe sometime in the future.

London, UK — April 6, 2016 — Today, Ubisoft® and Blue Byte released the new Anno 2205™ Veteran’s Pack, which is free for all players, and revealed plans for upcoming downloadable content.

The Anno 2205 Veteran’s Pack offers challenges for experienced Anno players and introduces new features, such as additional quest types, user interface options and ornaments. At the core of the Veteran’s Pack lies a new, harder difficulty mode, pushing players to their limits where more careful planning is required to grow their corporations. Players can adapt the new difficulty settings to their existing profiles or start a new corporation from scratch. Players will also experience new types of quests, a community-requested quick view mode for all buildings in the sector, and the option to exclude certain goods from consumption. Three new ornaments allow players to make their cities more diversified and performance updates such as improved start and loading times are included as well.

More new content is already in development for Anno 2205. This May, another free DLC, the Big Five Pack, will be released, bringing the Economic Warfare feature to the game. Here, players have to battle for shares of the Big Five, the five most successful competitive corporations, but they also need to defend their own corporation’s shares. Moreover, new Sector Effects can add a permanent or temporary positive or negative effect to players’ sectors.

In June, the Anno 2205 Orbit DLC will allow players to build their own modular space station, which offers a brand-new science and research system to upgrade different areas in their corporations. Orbit is part of the Anno 2205 Season Pass but can also be purchased separately.

Anno 2205 is in development at Blue Byte, a Ubisoft studio, and is available now.
