7th Dragon III Code: VFD Character Creation Detailed in Latest Trailer

7th-dragon-iii-code-vfd-screenshot-012

Sega has released a new trailer for 7th Dragon III Code: VFD and similar to a video released for the next game in the Etrian Odyssey series that was released last week, the video focuses entirely on showing off the game’s character creation system. Players will be able to customize all nine of the characters that will make up their party and choose from ninety six different appearances, forty different voice options and a number of outfits and personalities.

Each character can be one of eight classes, with Samurai being a sword using class, Agents wielding guns, God Hands being able to heal allies and take down enemies with their fists, Duelists that make use of magical cards to summon beings into battle, Rune Knights that fight with magical swords, Fortuners who primarily use debuff skills. Mages that focus entirely on skills that use mana, and Banishers that apparently just love to smash enemies.

The Idolmaster: Platinum Stars Arrives in Japan on July 28th

The-Idolmaster-Platinum-Stars-screenshot-(59)

At the start of the year Bandai Namco had plenty of details to announce about The Idolmaster: Platinum Stars for the PlayStation 4 but since then they have been a bit quiet about the upcoming game. That changed today when the company announced that they plan on releasing the game in Japan on July 28th where it will be sold for 8,200 yen at retail and as a digital download and that all first print copies of the game will come with a code that, when redeemed, will give the player a PlayStation 4 theme featuring the thirteen idols from the game.

As previously detailed, this game will place players in the role of a producer who must manage the thirteen idols as they enter a training camp in the remote countryside in order to restore their popularity by tapping into their hidden talents.

New Details Revealed for Divine Prison Tower: Mary Skelter

Divine-Prison-Tower-Mary-Skelter-screenshot-004

Back in March Compile Heart announced that they were working on a new PS Vita dungeon crawler that would be turned into a multimedia franchise with the help of Dengeki’s various branches by the name of Divine Prison Tower: Mary Skelter and today they have opened up the game’s official website. The website has revealed that the game will take place in the “living prison” called Jail which is a city that suddenly collapsed, allowing creatures called Marchen to create the prison.

Jack, a longtime inmate of Jail has long forgotten everything that makes him human but one day a group known as “Chishiki Girls Squad” rescues him and thus begins their attempt to escape. So far only a few characters have been revealed with Jack, Alice who is a girl that grew up with Jack at a young age and is also rescued, and Akazukin the first-discovered member of the “Chishiki Girls” and is hot-blooded when it comes to taking care of others.

Akira Toriyama Interview Hints at Dragon Ball Super Continuation

dragon-ball-super-manga-cover-01

Dragon Ball Super is currently in the middle of the ‘Champa Arc’ with the TV version being slightly ahead of the manga now, however we have no idea for exactly how long these two productions are scheduled to run for. With the first ten chapters of the manga being combined into a single volume for release, Dragon Ball series creator Akira Toriyama and the author of the Manga who goes by Toyotaro produced a joint interview answering a few questions about the series and its future.

Thanks to Twitter user Herms we have a nice translation of that interview that holds some hints as to Super’s direction. In response to a question asking where the series is heading, Toyotaro replies that a certain future related character is going to be involved and Toriyama chimes in saying that it’s a popular character that the kids should love. This most likely pertains to the more adult version of Trunks from the future who has since made many appearances across video games thanks to his time travel antics.

trunks-dragon-ball-screenshot-01

A similar but separate answer to that same question also brought up that another Universe might be involved. Based on the translation the above information seems accurate, however it is possible the use of the word future may just be in regards to the general future of Dragon Ball Super. Either way it means more Super content is on the way and that a popular character will be involved!

With the ending of Battle of Gods revealing there are 12 unique Universes, the series really has unlimited potential to explore new worlds and characters. The interview also reveals more about how the Manga is put together. We know Toriyama only provided the rough plot for the series, however the more fleshed out details are being penned by both Toyotaro and the staff in charge of the animated version of Super back at Toei Animation, which helps explains the minute differences between the two.

dragon-ball-super-screenshot-01

Toriyama mentions at the end of the manga that he hopes Toyotaro will become more involved with the story writing process as the series continues, so perhaps the series will continue long after Toriyama stops wanting to produce content if he is happy for certain approved individuals to continue the legacy.

Another fun interview revelation explains that the blue Super Saiyan form (known officially as Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan or simply Super Saiyan Blue) is blue simply because Battle of Gods used red for the Super Saiyan God transformation. Toriyama was going to make the form have white hair, however this would colour clash with the ‘next enemy’ (giving more promise to another arc for the series with a new villain).

We also got some reconfirmation on things we have known about for a while. Gohan was meant to become the main character of the series during the Buu Saga and take over from his late father, however the more Toriyama drew the Orange Star High School episodes the more he realised Gohan prefers studying over fighting. Toriyama had also not created the villain Majin Buu while creating the slice of life Gohan material, only doing so when he felt it was time for a new villain to appear.

So with all that being said we look to be in for at least one more arc of Dragon Ball Super once this Universe 6 vs Universe Tournament is over with and hopefully many more! Let us know in the comments if you would like to see Trunks return and any other ideas you might have for the series.

Rocket League Gets Basketball Mode in April Patch

rocket-league-hoops-01

Rocket League is a few months shy of it’s official one year anniversary however the game shows no signs of slowing down with another rather hefty patch set for release late this month.

The full patch notes from the official website are below and include an entirely new game mode called Hoops. The new mode is based more on Basketball than Soccer with an elevated goal and a new hardwood arena that will be sure to alter the way people player the game.

rocket-league-hoops-02

New Mode – “Hoops”

The patch (scheduled for release late April), will bring the all-new, basketball-inspired game mode to the Rocket League community.  “Hoops” will be available in Exhibition, Private Match or new Casual Playlist that pits players against each other in a 2v2 showdown.  Look out for Hoops and its exclusive Arena, “Dunk House,” soon!

Replay Quick-Saving

One of the most common requests from our community has been to add a quick-save feature and that’s exactly what we’ve added in this update. Press the new “Save Replay” hot-key/ button at any time during the match and your machine will take it from there — no more waiting for the post-match screen!

Replay Naming

To go along with the new quick-save feature, we’re also introducing the ability to name and rename Replays. This means that players can soon name any new Replay in the post-game lobby or rename preexisting ones from the “Replays” menu.

What’s with that BOUNCE!?

From Wasteland to DFH Stadium, we’ve noticed the physics of the ball behaving in unusual ways (and so have you based on some of the videos we’ve seen). In the upcoming patch, we will introduce global changes to the physics behavior (with additional changes to the Wasteland Arena, specifically) to help ensure that the ball behaves as you would expect it to.

Xbox One and “Cosmic” Arena!

As a reminder to all Xbox One players, this patch will also introduce the content detailed in our Xbox Roadmap blog from earlier this year. You will be getting all features listed in the article above, including Rocket Labs — which brings new and experimental Arenas with virtual reality-inspired aesthetics to the Casual Playlist. As an added bonus, all platforms will receive the brand new Rocket Labs arena, “Cosmic,” inspired by the classic Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars map!

rocket-league-screenshot-002

Rocket League was one of the surprise success stories of last year, generating over 72 million dollars for a game that initially had a 2 million dollar budget. This success prompted an Xbox One release that will become the first game to support cross platform play with PC. Developer Psyonix is also working hard to allow cross play with the PS4 and future platforms (presumably talking about the Nintendo NX).

NINTENDO DELIVERS NEW DETAILS ABOUT STAR FOX ZERO AND STAR FOX GUARD, COMING TO Wii U ON APRIL 23

NINTENDO DELIVERS NEW DETAILS ABOUT STAR FOX ZERO AND STAR FOX GUARD, COMING TO Wii U ON APRIL 23

Action shooter Star Fox Zero includes exclusive downloadable demo for companion title Star Fox Guard

6th April, 2016 – Nintendo reveals new details today about the next two games in its fan-favourite Star Fox series: action shooter Star Fox Zero and companion strategy title Star Fox Guard,  both launching in Australia and New Zealand on April 23 exclusively for Wii U.

In the action-packed universe of Star Fox Zero, the TV displays a cinematic view from behind the Arwing while the Wii U GamePad puts players straight into the gunner’s seat, complete with immersive audio and intuitive motion controls for pinpoint aiming. A range of training missions help new recruits to master the game’s unique two-screen gameplay, and as their skills improve, players can return to these training missions to rack up better scores, then take what they’ve learned into the main game to discover new areas and beat their previous best performances.

As players progress through the game they’ll be able to return to earlier missions to find hidden collectibles and alternative routes that offer brand new challenges. For instance, the standard route through the bioweapon-filled planet Fortuna ends with a climactic battle against the imposing Monarch Dodora, but after clearing a certain story mission, confident pilots can return to Fortuna and choose to branch off in pursuit of Star Wolf instead. With multiple paths through the game bringing new challenges and surprises, there’s one to suit every skill level and play style. The Star Fox Zero Squadron trailer on YouTube gives a new look at the action of both Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard.

Pilots up for an even fiercer challenge can tap in their Falco amiibo to unlock the Black Arwing, which has more powerful weapons but weaker defences, making it a potent but fragile weapon. Tapping the Fox amiibo unlocks a retro Arwing styled after the original Super NES Star Fox game, complete with retro music, to be used in the first Corneria stage.

Launching alongside Star Fox Zero is the companion game Star Fox Guard, which puts players in the ultimate security guard job – defending mining sites against waves of robot invaders. The TV screen displays a bank of 12 surveillance camera feeds, each monitoring a different part of the mining site, and it’s up to players to switch between cameras to spot enemies and blast them before they reach the central tower. It’ll take supreme awareness and multi-tasking skills to fend off the relentless robot approach, so it helps to have friends on-hand to call out camera numbers that show approaching enemies. Help is also on hand via the Fox and Falco amiibo, which can each be tapped once per day to call in team Star Fox for a powerful air strike that destroys attacking robots.

Successfully clearing missions bestows rare metals, which count towards unlocking additional missions and cameras with special abilities, like slowing enemies down or freezing them in place, adding another layer of strategy to the action. My Squad mode also lets keen tacticians create and upload their own enemy attack patterns to challenge others around the world, or take on other players’ best efforts. Meanwhile, the Star Strategists feature is updated every day to offer a popular challenge from across the globe.

Fans who purchase Star Fox Zero can get a taste of Star Fox Guard’s strategic action with an exclusive downloadable demo, only accessible though the main menu of Star Fox Zero. Save data can be carried over to the full version, so tacticians can pick up where they left off.

From April 23, Wii U owners can pick up Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard in a limited First Print edition including both games on separate Game Discs, and an exclusive SteelBook® case (SRP AU$99.95). This package is the only way to get a physical copy of Star Fox Guard, so collectors won’t want to miss out. Star Fox Guard (AU$19.50/NZ$25.50) and Star Fox Zero (AU$79.95/NZ$99.95) will also be available on Nintendo eShop for Wii U, and  those who purchase one title from Nintendo eShop can get a discount of AU$6.50 / NZ$8.50 off the other!

Anyone who wants to get into training can pick up the Nintendo 64 game Star Fox 64, available now in Nintendo eShop for AU$6.50 /NZ$8.50 (regular price AU$13 /NZ$17) until April 21, 2016.
