New Real-Time Strategy Game, Win That War!, Puts PC Players in Massive Sci-Fi Universe to Wage War on a Planetary Scale

New Real-Time Strategy Game, Win That War!, Puts PC Players in Massive Sci-Fi Universe to Wage War on a Planetary Scale

Ambitious RTS Game Spans Procedurally Generated Universe with Evolving Solo, Multiplayer and MMO Campaigns and Unique Retro Sci-Fi Aesthetic

Rennes, FRANCEMay 12, 2016 – Insane Unity, an independent French game developer, today announced that they are developing an ambitious, large scale real-time strategy game for PC, Win That War! Scheduled for release in 2017, Win That War! is a massive RTS game with solo, multiplayer and MMO campaign modes set in a procedurally generated retro sci-fi universe. Players will work with and against each other in uneasy alliances between three corporate factions, each of which seeks control of the galaxy. Starting today, players can download the demo at the game’s newly launched Kickstarter page to see if they want to join the battle for universal domination before committing any hard-earned dollars toward the game’s promise. The demo offers an early look at a single player training match plus a multiplayer match mode for up to 8 human players, both set in a single desert biome and without implementation of the game’s MMO features and full planetary view.

Win That War! combines a love for classic real-time strategy games with modern innovation and technology, including a universe populated with planets generated in real time for endlessly evolving gameplay scenarios. There’s always something new to discover—and conquer! In addition to fully procedural solo and multiplayer game modes, the heart of the experience lies in a massively multiplayer online campaign, in which opposing factions wage a merciless war to conquer territories on a planetary scale. With unique aesthetics that hearken to 1960s sci-fi, the game’s robot units and buildings can be managed in minute detail from the safety of orbital bases. Players will have to balance micro-management with keeping an eye on the overall campaign, all while coordinating and competing with other players through a unique resource and trade system. While basic resources are widely available, rare resources needed for high level units are unique to certain areas, requiring players to trade with friends and enemies alike in trade-based alliances.

“Our goal for Win That War! is to create a rich and diverse tactical experience spanning a galaxy-wide competition for power, resources and wealth,” said Samuel Hangouet, CEO of Insane Unity. “With the resources and ingenuity of our team, we are already well on our way with an exciting alpha demo, and with the assistance of strategy fans, we will deliver a compelling RTS game in 2017.”

Win That War! puts players at the heart of a campaign of fierce galactic conquest. Combining tactical management, cooperation and competition, the game’s retro-futuristic universe comes alive with gripping storylines that evolve over time through game updates. Players will find allies and use robotic minions to build, forage, mine and profit. By coordinating actions on each planet’s surface, players can expand to dominate the entire galaxy!

The Kickstarter campaign for Win That War! begins today and will run through June 13th, with a goal of raising €40,000 ($45,500) to complete the game’s development. Donations will be invested to ensure optimal artistic quality, in both visuals and audio production as well as helping build the game’s community. Announced game features and rewards include the following, with more goals and rewards yet to be revealed:

  • An MMO real-time strategy game set in a procedurally generated universe
  • Three corporate-based factions, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, which players can join—try to fight your way to the top echelon of the faction while also keeping the faction ahead of its two rivals in the power struggle for the galaxy.
  • Once a planet is generated, its surface is broken down into territories and different biomes are combined to create planets with multiple environment types and topologies, enabling new gameplay possibilities.
  • Each of the persistent territories can be played simultaneously by a certain number of players from each mega-corporation faction. Your goal is to make sure your side ends up dominating the whole planet!
  • Players will select a location to build their base—find a spot that’s easy to defend and then start building units and gathering resources.
  • Basic resources provide the materials for running factories and building units, but advanced technologies unlocked over time require precious consumables that are not widely available and may only be available through trades with friends and foes—creating an additional strategic layer.
  • Players will unlock new blueprints and uncover the game’s deep upgrade tree that includes over 60 planned unit and building upgrades to support different playstyles.
  • Base battles are a key part of gameplay, but Win That War! is also about cooperation as choosing a field of specialty that balances strengths and weaknesses is necessary for survival—cooperating with complementary players (even enemies!) can be as important as defeating other players.
  • An immersive internal communication system will track player progress, provide updates on friends and associates and allow players to discuss tactics with faction members in real time.
  • Multiple backer rewards start at just €1/$1.14, including a limited number of Space Explorer rewards including a copy of the game and beta access for €20/$23 and a limited number of Subetherial Engineer rewards with full game access, a t-shirt, digital artbook and OST and an alternate cosmetic in-game engineer skin for €80/$90.

Chronicle: RuneScape Legends Set For Full Steam Launch On 26th May And Its ‘Free Card Packs’ Deal Starts Today

Chronicle: RuneScape Legends Set For Full Steam Launch On 26th May And Its ‘Free Card Packs’ Deal Starts Today

Chronicle: RuneScape Legends – a new adventure in CCGs – will reward open beta players with free card packs from today ahead of 26th May arrival on the digital platform

Thursday 12th May 2016, Cambridge, UK – The countdown to the launch of Chronicle: RuneScape Legends has begun, as Jagex today confirmed the next generation card gamewill arrive on Steam on Thursday 26th May – just two weeks from today. Ahead of its launch, players logging into the game’s open beta to experience Chronicle’s unique battle of wits, strategy, and combat between now and 23:59 BST on Sunday, 15th May, will be gifted three free card packs to bolster their collection.

The Steam launch of Chronicle will mark the arrival a new generation of action-packed strategy card games, one that sees players fighting their own cards in a quest for supremacy over their rival. Delivering a step-change in traditional CCG gameplay, almost every predictable card game mechanic has been thrown out the window in favour of Chronicle’s unique twist on the genre.

Since the game went into open beta six weeks ago, dozens of new cards based on Old School RuneScape have debuted in game, while a sixth Legend – Morvran the Slayer Master – is making his way to the roster later this summer, bringing with him a whole new strategy to explore. The launch of Chronicle on Steam will also see the debut of a new ranking system featuring epic rewards.

“It’s just two weeks until we officially throw open the doors to Chronicle’s Hall of Legends on 26th May, and its launch on Steam is only the beginning for what we have planned. We’ve already introduced brand new cards every week, increased rewards, balancing improvements, and there’s even more content planned for the months to come,” said James Sweatman, lead designer, Chronicle: RuneScape Legends.

“We’d like to thank the many tens of thousands of cunning card tacticians who have helped us in open beta with feedback to refine the Chronicle’s unique CCG gameplay mechanics. For our existing open beta players, and anyone who signs up over the weekend, we’re offering up three free card packs so they can build their decks ready to take on new rivals at launch.”

Ahead of full Steam launch on 26th May, gamers can join the open beta and claim their three free card packs by downloading the game from: https://www.rschronicle.com/

Notes to Editor
Chronicle: RuneScape Legends will launch on Steam in seven languages: English; French; LATAM Spanish; German; Polish; Russian; and Brazilian-Portuguese.

About Chronicle: RuneScape Legends
Chronicle: RuneScape Legends gives players the chance to write the fate of Legends from the world of RuneScape in a battle of wits, strategy and combat where lives are gambled on the turn of the cards. It’s a game where two rival Legend adventurers are seeking victory and both are equipped with the tools to trip the other up.

As every quest chapter opens, a rich environment is revealed and offers up four slots for card placement, each representing a step forward and action point in the adventure. In the role of a chosen Legend, players select up to four cards from their deck, which can be a mix of Support and Enemy cards each with an action and specific values. These are then placed in the slots on the landscape and locked in sequence.

In Chronicle, the player’s cards are both their greatest weapon and weakness. Like any great role playing game, players slay monsters, bosses and other foes to gain loot. Unlike other card games, players need to battle their own cards, rather than their opponents.

As the sequence of cards turn – one-by-one – the quest unfolds, with each card bringing a new challenge or reward. The rival Legend’s chain of cards plays out in parallel and can help or, more likely, hinder the player. If both players make it to the end of the fifth chapter, the Legends do battle against each other, with the victor being the last person standing. Chronicle: RuneScape Legends launches 26th May on Steam. For more information visit: www.rschronicle.com .

“We’re pleased to have delivered another quarter of strong results that exceeded our expectations.  This quarter, we continued to execute well across several key markets, including China, where positive results were driven by the February Lunar New Year season, which continued into March, and Korea, where we saw better-than-expected performance from key PC and mobile titles,” said Owen Mahoney, President and Chief Executive Officer of Nexon. “During the quarter, we also deepened our commitment to partnering with world-class developers with our acquisition of Big Huge Games, the developer of DomiNations, a critically-acclaimed title with over 20 million downloads worldwide. With this acquisition, Nexon solidifies relationship with them for long-term comprehensive service of the title and established another strong development foothold in the West. Going forward, we will continue to seek more opportunities to work with leading game developers and IP holders around the world.”

First Quarter 2016 Highlights:

  • First quarter revenues were 57.5 billion yen, up 11% year-over-year.
  • Performance exceeded our outlook, with double-digit as-reported revenue growth despite strong Japanese yen appreciation against the Korean won, Chinese yuan and U.S. dollar.
  • Outperformance was driven primarily by higher-than-expected sales fromDungeon&Fighter in China.
  • Operating income was 3.7 billion yen and net loss attributable to owners of the parent was 6.3 billion yen, both below our outlook due to impairment loss.
  • Operating income underperformance was primarily due to the impairment loss on gloops’ goodwill of 22.6 billion yen.
  • Excluding the one-time impairment loss on gloops’ goodwill, operating income would have been 26.3 billion yen, exceeding our outlook.
  • Lower than expected net income attributable to owners of the parent was primarily due to the impairment loss in addition to FX loss in foreign currency-denominated cash deposits and account receivables.

Second Quarter 2016 Outlook:

  • Expect second quarter 2016 revenues in the range of 37.5 to 40.3 billion yen.
  • Expect PC online game revenues in the range of 28.4 to 30.2 billion yen.
  • Expect mobile game revenues in the range of 9.1 to 10.1 billion yen.
  • Expect operating income in the range of 11.5 to 13.9 billion yen.
