Eight New Characters Revealed for Akiba’s Beat

Akibas-Beat-screenshot-006

This week’s issue of Famitsu magazine has revealed some new characters that will be appearing in Akiba’s Beat and many of them happen to be right up Akihabara’s alley thanks to nearly half of them being maids working at a cafe. These new eight characters and their voice actors are introduced below, courtesy of Siliconera:

  • Kotomi Sanada (CV: Sumire Uesaka): A 17-year-old third-year high school student, but she currently isn’t attending school. She’s the daughter of a reputable family. She’s sharp-tongued and speaks with an authoritative tone.
  • Reiji Shinomiya (CV: KENN): A 28-year-old man who is on a manhunt in Akihabara. He works with Asahi and the others after certain events, and has a cold personality.
  • Mizuki Aihara (CV: Kensho Ono): A 20-year-old university student who is Asahi’s childhood friend. Contrary to the free spirit that is Asahi, he’s more of a serious and level-headed person.
  • Kanon (CV: Tetsuya Kakihara): His existence is the rumored “man in a pink cloak” of Akihabara. He contracts delusions of people and is known as the “Delusion Contractor” but his identity and motives are currently unknown.
  • Moe Suzumori (CV: Yuuki Kuwahara): An 18-year-old who works as a maid at a maid cafe. She’s popular enough to be the face of the shop, and legend has it that she’s never taken a day off since starting the job.
  • Yuno Saionji (CV: Hibiku Yamamura): A 28-year-old maid who works for Kotomi. She does nothing but spoil Kotomi.
  • Katana Saotome (CV: Juri Kimura): A 16-year-old Bokukko (a girl who uses male pronouns) maid that works in a bar located on the side-streets of Akihabara. She has a good sense of style and is popular with the costumers, but her lack of confidence can get the best of her at times.
  • Akemi Ecstasia (CV: Tsubasa Yonaga): A mysterious woman and owner of the bar where Katana works. She’s also an information broker. She finds Asahi and his friends interesting and treats them favorably.

Akiba’s Beat is currently slated for release in Japan sometime in fall 2016 and XSEED Games has already announced that they plan on bringing the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita RPG to North America sometime in winter 2016.

Utawarerumono: The Two Hakuoros adds Anju as Playable Character

Utawarerumono-the-two-hakuoros-scan-003

This week’s issue of Famitsu has revealed that when Utawarerumono: The Two Hakuoros is released later this year in Japan for it will now include Anju, the imperial princess, as a playable character. For those who may have only seen the anime following the second game, Anju was never able to participate in combat and was even poisoned at one point so this marks the first time in the series that she will be able to fight in combat.

Anju is being described as a “power fighter” and those who have save data from Utawarerumono: The False Faces will be given a number of bonus items to help get them started when this title is released. Also shown off are special co-op techniques that players will be able to perform after a certain part in the story with certain characters.

Utawarerumono: The Two Hakuoros is currently slated to be released in Japan on September 21st for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita.

No Brakes Games’ physics-based puzzler hits PCs on July 22nd, thanks to Curve Digital

June 22nd, 2016 – London, United Kingdom

Human Fall Flat, the debut PC and console game from No Brakes Games, will be available on PC on July 22nd, publisher Curve Digital has today revealed.

The game has been ballooning in popularity over the last couple of months since the prototype was uploaded to Itch.io with little fanfare, amassing over 25 million views across various channels. Its mix of surreal visuals, open-ended puzzling and laugh-out-loud gameplay has seen it become a firm favourite among streamers – with the random exploits of players proving essential viewing for viewers on the world’s most popular video sharing site.

Assuming the role of Bob – infinitely customisable, yet with limited physical ability – players must navigate a series of bizarre dreamscapes, seeking the elusive exit which will take them one step closer to their goal.

By operating Bob’s limbs independently, players must traverse wrecked trainyards, clamber over cavernous wastelands, and lay siege to fairytale castles – all in the pursuit of… whatever it is Bob is seeking.

It’s a true joy to play. Imagine Uncharted, but without all the murder and if Nathan Drake was drunk.

The full release on Steam will enhance the prototype in many ways. In addition to significantly more content, Human Fall Flat will boast a brilliant two-player mode, which has had those who’ve had the opportunity to test it in stitches.

“July 22nd can’t come soon enough,” says Tomas Sakalauskas, No Brakes Games. “Human Fall Flat has been a genuine labour of love, a seed of an idea that has blossomed into something which is really resonating with all who play it. Its full release is just the beginning of the journey for Bob and I – I’m excited to see what players make of the full version.”

“Human Fall Flat is a rare gem indeed,” adds Jason Perkins, managing director, Curve Digital. “Everyone in the studio is stupidly excited about seeing the full release – and we know people are going to love what Tomas has put together.”

Human Fall Flat will release on PC on July 22nd. Console versions will be available later in the year.

THEY’RE BACK! ORIGINAL RUNESCAPE DEVS RETURN FOR ANNIVERSARY QUEST

THEY’RE BACK! ORIGINAL RUNESCAPE DEVS RETURN FOR ANNIVERSARY QUEST

‘Gower Quest’, a love letter to the MMORPG, launches with plenty of nods and winks to the past 15 years of RuneScape history.

Wednesday 22nd June 2016, Cambridge, UK – Fifteen years after they created RuneScape, the original trio of brothers – Andrew, Paul, and Ian Gower – have returned to the world of Gielinor with a new quest as part of the game’s year-long anniversary celebrations. Dubbed, somewhat inevitably, ‘Gower Quest’, the new mission sees players uncover the mystery of the disappearing cabbages for three familiar looking cabbage mages. Packed with nods and winks to vintage RuneScape memes and jokes, Gower Quest is a fond love letter from the game’s creators.

A free-to-play quest that enables the broadest range of players to experience the adventure and celebrate the game’s past and future successes, Gower Quest will take players through cabbage fields and beyond as they experience a tale that will warm the very cockles of their hearts. Featuring new rewards, including a brand new god sword forged in the name of the cabbage god, Brassica Prime, Gower Quest is like no other RuneScape quest!

“Bringing back the three brothers to help design a celebratory quest was simply fantastic, and we’re already seeing players contact us saying how nostalgic and wonderful Gower Quest is for them,” said David Osborne, lead designer, RuneScape. “We’re grateful to Andrew, Paul, and Ian for returning to RuneScape for one more occasion and being guest designers on the quest. Fifteen years is a phenomenal milestone to reach, so few MMORPGs have ever reached it, and fewer still while experiencing a resurgence in player numbers!”

“Without the Gowers, we would not have RuneScape and there would be no Jagex, so we were thrilled when they agreed to return to Jagex as guest quest designers for this celebratory adventure,” said Mark Ogilvie, design director, RuneScape. “I’ve been working on RuneScape for 14 years now, and I have many, many fond memories of working at the near-dawn of Gielinor and its lore. This quest harks back and pays homage to some key events and characters from across the history of RuneScape, and is the perfect way to celebrate its milestone anniversary.”
