KONAMI and FC Barcelona announce three-year agreement as PES 2017 publisher becomes Premium Partner of Catalan giants

KONAMI and FC Barcelona announce three-year agreement as PES 2017 publisher becomes Premium Partner of Catalan giants

Sydney, 27th July – Konami Digital Entertainment B.V., creator of the award-winning PES series of football simulations, has announced a top-level partnership with FC Barcelona, the first of its kind for a video game publisher.

“This is a real statement of intent for us,” explained Tomotada Tashiro, President of Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. “By working closely with a team of Barcelona’s stature we can introduce the PES series to a huge global fan base. This partnership will deliver access to the very best players in the modern game and to one of the world’s most respected and ambitious clubs. The PES series is famed for its realism and control, so the fit between such a skilled team and a game that celebrates such ability is perfect.”

KONAMI and FC Barcelona has entered a Premium Partner agreement, which will see KONAMI granted extensive access to the club’s stars and have a visible presence within the match day experience. KONAMI will have a prominent advertising presence within and around the club’s Camp Nou stadium, and will also receive exclusive rights to recreate FC Barcelona’s legendary home within its PES titles, starting with PES 2017 and within all related PES-branded releases, including mobile titles.

“We are delighted to have signed this agreement with KONAMI, who is now an official Premium Partner of the Club” added Manel Arroyo, FC Barcelona Vice-President of Marketing and Communications. “KONAMI is a strategic partner that will allow us to bring FC Barcelona to millions of users of its game. We hope to see the club, the players and Camp Nou, perfectly recreated in the next and future versions of the PES series.”

FC Barcelona was founded in 1899 in Barcelona, Catalonia. The team is widely known to fans by their nickname ‘Barca’, and since their formation has won the UEFA Champions League five times, the Spanish League 24 times, and many other honours. FC Barcelona is one of the best-supported clubs in the world, with almost 145,000 Socios, (members) and the top sport club on social media, with nearly 250 million followers. FC Barcelona will also be represented faithfully within the series, with KONAMI’s proprietary Team ID and Player ID systems used to ensure the PES side perfectly reflects the overall and individual playing styles of the Catalan side and its many stars. The club’s famed ’offensive, playing style will be fully implemented, as will the club anthem ’Himno‘. Konami will also be using advanced 3D photo-scanning techniques to implement the faces and expressions of key players, and will also release in-game versions of the club’s historical kits for use in the games. There will also be special promotions within its hugely popular myClub mode that will allow fans to add Barca stars such as Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr and Luis Suarez to their home-grown squads. In addition PES 2017 will include FCB Legends also available in myClub.

The agreement comes as KONAMI builds up to the September 13th/15th launch of PES 2017, the already acclaimed latest iteration of the 21-year-old series. PES 2017 is founded around the ‘Control Reality’ ethos, elevating the series’ award-winning gameplay to a new level through incredible new control elements and a new standard of visual realism, without sacrificing what made PES successful in the first place: playing a match with your friends. The industry-leading Fox Engine is again central to elevating the series to new heights, with KONAMI focusing on first touch, the making and receiving of passes, and adaptive AI to elevate the game’s acclaimed realism.

The Jarvis Project to Feature Cablepunk Art Style

jarvis-project-promo-shot-02

Finnish indie developers Housemarque (Alienation) may not have settled on a name for their upcoming game currently dubbed Jarvis Project but they announced today that they will be shooting for a cablepunk art style. In contrast to the clean and sleek lines of traditional science fiction, the Jarvis Project is a grungy look full of cables. Cablepunk is designed to be a retro offshoot of cyberpunk. Jarvis Project game director Harry Krueger sat down in a new dev diary to talk about Cablepunk, to reveal the game’s first major enemy, and to show off some new concept art.

Jarvis Project is an upcoming hardcore game designed to pit players against each other in an arcade style leaderboard. Housemarque is working with legendary game designer Eugene Jarvis (Defender) to develop the new game. No word on a release date, but the game will launch on PC and PlayStation 4.

Nintendo NX Rumoured to be a Handheld Hybrid and Use Cartridges

nintendo-logo-01

Nintendo have been playing their cards close to their chest when it comes to their next future console code named the Nintendo NX. All we know for 100% sure is that it will be launching in March 2017 and has two confirmed launch titles, Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Sonic Project 2017. However a new rumour from Eurogamer.net claimed to be supported by multiple sources has leaked some major details on the secretive console.

Here are all the big details from the leaks. Of course until Nintendo confirms anything these are of course rumours, but the details listed here do seem likely with some of these points being rumoured multiple times before.

  • The Nintendo NX will be a home console/portable hybrid device.
  • To achieve this, the main controller will be a tablet/touch screen like device that has connections for one detachable controller on either side. Picture a Wii U GamePad except you can remove the bits on the side of the screen.
  • Physical gaming media will be in the form of cartridges that are being recommended to hold 32GB’s of data. These cartridges will be inserted into the controller for portable gaming.
  • The NX will feature a Nvidia Tegra mobile processor. What this means is the console will most likely be slightly weaker performance wise than it’s current generation cousins the PS4 and Xbox One.
  • The NX can be plugged into a dock that is connected to your TV for the full home console experience.
  • Due to the design differences, backwards compatibility is unlikely to be included in any capacity.
  • The NX will have a Nintendo created operating system.
  • Nintendo is planning to unveil the NX in September with a more simple message to avoid confusion as there was with the Wii U launch.

TOM CLANCY’S RAINBOW SIX® SIEGE SKULL RAIN UPDATE AVAILABLE AUGUST 2

TOM CLANCY’S RAINBOW SIX® SIEGE SKULL RAIN UPDATE AVAILABLE AUGUST 2

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – July 27, 2016 – Ubisoft® has announced that Skull Rain, the third major update for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege will be available on August 2 for Microsoft Xbox One®, Sony Playstation®4 computer entertainment system and Windows PC. Continuing the commitment to provide new post-launch content for the game, this third free content update introduces two new Operators and includes a new map and gameplay features.

New Favela Map and Two New BOPE Operators

In Skull Rain, the Favela map is the most destructible and open environment to date in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. Two BOPE Operators, Caveria and Capitão, have been enlisted to provide their expertise of the region and assist local law enforcement in regaining control of the area.

  • Caveira has a reputation for being a brutal interrogator. She is equipped with the “Luison”, a unique PRB92 with a custom suppressor and subsonic ammunition, which gives her the ability to incapacitate targets quietly. In addition, her “the Silent Step” stealth technique, allows her to lurk on prey undetected.
  • Capitão is equipped with the Tactical Crossbow TARS Mk0 and has the ability to fire two types of ammunition: lethal asphyxiating bolts and micro smoke grenades that deliver swift and agile assaults.

Improved Gameplay Experience

  • Surrender System for Ranked Matches

If the competition becomes too rough, players can now cast a vote for their team to surrender during a Ranked match. This will end the game and allow players to move onto another match. This new feature will be available prior to the 3rd round.

  • Custom Game Mode: Tactical Realism

Introducing a new gameplay mode available in Custom Games, Tactical Realism was created to further immersion where tension runs high as players must carefully assess, coordinate, and communicate their movements at all time.

  • New Attachment: The Angled Grip

Catering to a variety of playstyles, the angled grip accelerates the transition between hip fire and ADS, which allows for an aggressive ad fast-paced playstyle.

As with previous updates, the new Operators are immediately unlocked for Season Pass owners, with exclusive access granted for seven days. All players can then unlock the Operators with Renown or R6 Credits after the exclusive period ends on August 9. The Favela Map will be available for all players on August 2.

About Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege

Inspired by real-world counter-terrorist organizations, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege puts players in the middle of lethal close-quarter confrontations. For the first time in a Rainbow Six game, players will engage in sieges, a new style of assault where enemies have the means to transform their environments into modern strongholds while Rainbow Six teams lead the assault to breach the enemy’s position. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege gives players unprecedented control over their ability to fortify their position by reinforcing walls and floors, using barbed wire and deployable shields, laying mines and more, or to breach the enemies’ position using observation drones, setting charges, rappelling and more. The fast pace and uniqueness of each siege sets a new bar for intense firefights, strategic gameplay and competitive gaming.
