MAX VERSTAPPEN MAKES HISTORY IN F1™ 2017 ON ‘SILVERSTONE SHORT’ CIRCUIT

MAX VERSTAPPEN MAKES HISTORY IN F1™ 2017 ON ‘SILVERSTONE SHORT’ CIRCUIT

First Gameplay Trailer Released

Larkspur, Calif. – July 13th, 2017 – Codemasters® and Deep Silver have today released a new trailer for F1™ 2017, the official videogame of the 2017 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™. The trailer showcases Max Verstappen playing F1 2017 in the stunning ‘Hall of Fame’ at Red Bull Racing Headquarters in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, ahead of the 2017 FORMULA 1 ROLEX BRITISH GRAND PRIX this weekend at the iconic Silverstone circuit.

In a first for the Codemasters F1 videogame series, in addition to all 20 official 2017 circuits being present in the new game, F1 2017 will also include four shortened circuit variations, including ‘Silverstone Short’, on which Max Verstappen drove the 2017 Red Bull Racing RB13 and also the classic 2010 Red Bull Racing RB6 during his time with the new game recently.

Max said of his experience playing the new F1 2017 game, “I really like the game and it is a lot more fun to drive with the new cars. The graphics are a lot better, they’ve made the cars more realistic, and that’s always good. I like the detail on the classic cars involved and it’s always nice to drive those old legendary cars. I think it’s a great game, it’s definitely a lot of fun to play.”

In the trailer Verstappen also comments on how the two cars feel to him compared to his real-life experiences, “The 2017 RB13 feels really good in the game with the extra grip from the new 2017 car designs as well as from the wider tires, resulting in faster cornering speeds which require more precision. In comparison, the classic RB6 is lighter, with a slower top speed, and later braking, and of course the biggest stand out being the sound of the engine.”

In the trailer Verstappen approaches the Silverstone Short circuit in trademark fashion, and sets a new fastest lap. The new trailer is now playing at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-FHbrU196U. The four shortened circuit variations are available in all game modes, and can be raced with either the 2017 or classic cars.

F1 2017 will release onto PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, the all-in-one entertainment system by Microsoft, and Windows PC via Steam worldwide on August 25th, 2017. TACTICAL RPG TOWER OF TIME LAUNCHES ON STEAM EARLY ACCESS

TACTICAL RPG TOWER OF TIME LAUNCHES ON STEAM EARLY ACCESS

New Polish Studio Event Horizon Launch Modern Take On Traditional RPG’s

POLAND, 13th July 2017 – Tower of Time is an ambitious tactical RPG aimed at introducing innovative elements to the classic combat RPG. Developed by new Polish studio Event Horizon, Tower of Time offers players elaborate in-depth gameplay mechanics with a non-cliché narrative. For $14.99/€14.99, gamers will receive 15 hours of gameplay across 4 of the 13 levels of the tower. The team invites players to get a taste of their work and confirm that the full game will be available by the end of this year.

Tower of Time has a modern real-time combat system with an entirely new approach to character development and classic RPG inspiration. Event Horizon went the extra mile with the quality of the game to differentiate it from other run-of-the mill indie RPGs. With attractive graphics and battles full of special effects, all supplemented by handcrafted levels, the team have created each level with an individual atmosphere to support the overall character of the story told by the game.

Tower of Time is set in Artara, a world still devastated after a catastrophe that separated its races from the knowledge of their past. The story drives the gameplay system, and the heart of the system is the party, which consists of 4 characters chosen at will from 7 available classes. The progression of their skill is based on the premise that there should be no singular “proper” path of development leading to the creation of a super-powered character. Regarding the story, the Event Horizon team declared that there is no place for black-and-white morality in their production and have emphasized an engaging narrative and intriguing setting in which a developing technological civilization has encountered magic.

Tactical combat in Tower of Time offers a myriad of possibilities, but they also require careful planning and altering movements according to the current situation. The combat is in real time, though the player is aided by a dynamic slow-time feature, which is ideal for positioning the characters, changing strategy and creating combinations of the several characters’ skills. The battles are supposed to be far from repetitive – along with the diverse range of buffs, de-buffs and status changes or additional aids like summoning, the combat mechanics change for different encounters, such as in fights with “swarm” type enemies or bosses. Each elite enemy brings a new mechanic to the games, which the player has to learn and master.

To get updates on the title, the team invite you to follow the Tower of Time Facebook page and Twitter account.

About Event Horizon

Event Horizon is a young developer studio with headquarters in Poland. It was established by a group of passionate people, who formed a team focused on creating the game, which would not adhere to the genre’s standards, but present fresh visions and introduce variety of innovations. Today, Event Horizon consists of 10 designers. The team includes both experienced programmers and artists with experience in working on large scale projects, but also young game designers. Tower of Time is the first production of the studio. A strategy game set in the same world is also among the studio’s future plans.

Full Season of The Lion’s Song Launches Today for PC, Mac and Mobile

Full Season of The Lion’s Song Launches Today for PC, Mac and Mobile

Narrative adventure game connects the dots with fourth and final episode “Closure” coming to Steam, complete season debuts for Mac and mobile

Vienna, Austria – July 13, 2017 – Austrian indie developer Mipumi Games has today launched the fourth and final episode, Closure, of their narrative adventure game The Lion’s Song on Steam (PC, Mac, Linux). Parallel to this milestone, the full season of the award-winning adventure series debuts today on iOS, Android and the Mac Store.

The Lion’s Song is a narrative adventure game series about creativity and its demons, with each of the first three episodes taking a closer look at a fictional Austrian artist or scientist. Steeped in culturally vibrant 20th century history, the game lets players travel back in time and gives them an intimate insight into the creative struggle of the young composer Wilma, the haunted painter Franz, and the genius mathematician Emma. The season’s finale, Episode 4 – Closure, will take players on a mysterious train journey that connects the storylines of all previous episodes. What stories will these four strangers share along the way, and where will their journey end?

“Each of the first three episodes of The Lion’s Song featured its own little standalone adventure with a unique protagonist, characters and narrative. Our aim was to let players dive into a rich world of fascinating stories with very different endings, which encourages them to replay each episode and take alternate routes,” said Mipumi CEO Gregor Eigner. “For Episode 4 we’re taking a different approach, bringing the first three stories together in a way that we hope will offer players a satisfying conclusion to the path they have chosen.”

The Season Pass for The Lion’s Song, containing all four episodes, is available on Steam (PC, Mac, Linux) and the Mac Store for $9.99 / £8.99 / €9.99. Alternatively, on Steam, Episode 1 – Silence is available for free and the other episodes can be purchased separately for $3.99 / £3.49 / €3.99 each. On iOS and Android, The Lion’s Song will be released as a premium title containing all four episodes for $4.99 / £4.99 / €5.49.

For more information, visit The Lion’s Song on Steam or the official website and follow the game on Facebook and Twitter.

Aven Colony Preview

Aven Colony

Developer: Mothership Entertainment
Publisher: Team17 Digital
PlatformPlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows (Previewed)
Release Date: 25 July 2017
Price: $29.99 USD – Available Here

Aven Colony is the first game from Texas-based developers Mothership Entertainment, an outfit of four veteran game developers gone indie. Built on Unreal Engine 4, the game sends players to the distant planet of Aven Prime as the governor of the first human colony outside our solar system. Players will need to guide the development of their colony to ensure a happy, healthy, and productive colony in the face of mysterious alien life forms and hostile environmental conditions. We were able to get some hands-on time with a preview build of the game ahead of its full launch in the coming weeks to get a taste of what is to come.

The campaign mode follows the exploits of a famed governor from Earth that has been brought to the new planet to set up the first permanent colonies outside the Solar System. The player provides a steady, though silent, hand at the wheel in the settlements so expedition teams can explore the new alien planet. Based on the preview build, the story is told through a series of transmissions between members of the expeditions and the administrators on the fleet. While I suspect there won’t be enough of a plot to write a novel, the story so far has been entertaining with some funny banter between characters.

Aven Colony is a city building sim with a few twists. Anyone who has played a recent Tropico or Anno titles will be well equipped for what Aven Colony has to offer. Players start off with a small lander module, a little bit of storage space, a construction drone, and a few solar panels to get the colony started. Nanites is the standard construction currency and must be acquired by processing metal or trading with orbiting ships. All buildings need adequate power to run. Colonists are a little fussier; once their basic need of food and water is met, players need to care for their general happiness by ensuring short commutes to work, clean air to breathe, safe places to live, and plenty of entertainment to enjoy.

The population only grows with immigrants coming to settle in the colonies. It is a small blessing in disguise as it gives players control on how quickly their population grows. It would be a disaster to be surprised by a random child boom that results in being eaten out of house and home by a swarm of hungry teenagers.

Players have other options when it comes to controlling the population in hard times. Social edicts can be issued to put restraints on things like food consumption or power usage. Of course, these measures do not seem to be suited for the long term as restrictions make the populace cranky. Angry colonists will make their voices heard at the next election, voting no confidence in the player’s rule and booting the player out.

Days work a little differently in Aven Colony as one day is the equivalent to one full year, complete with changing seasons. There are only two seasons worth noting in practice, winter and everything else. Winter comes with some harsh penalties. Solar panels generate half the power they normally do, crops can only grow in greenhouses, and destructive lightning storms rain down from the heavens. Much like settlers of old, players will need to do a little preparation for the cold season, stocking up on food and building battery packs and lightning rods to protect the colony and cover any shortages of power. While the orbital stations can send an emergency pod with supplies, it is not enough to rely on.

The weather is not the only thing that is hostile on this new planet. Local hot spots happily belch toxic fumes if not harnessed by a geothermal generator. The local wildlife aren’t too thrilled about the new colonists either. Players will need to keep robots and hospitals on the ready to deal with plague spores looking to infect both buildings and people. Left to its own devices, the spores can spread like wildfire across the colony with crippling side effects. To deal with infections, players need to harden their infrastructure against spores, such as installing turrets to blast spore pockets away and avoiding intake fans that directly pump in air from the outdoors.

The audio/visual presentation has been decent so far. The sound effects and soundtrack has been enjoyable. The voice acting is very strong. The art style is a very clean futuristic look to it which is contrasted by the neon colours of the alien planet. The only thing I did notice is that the textures are at a low resolution at maximum settings, resulting in some pretty fuzzy looking structures. I am hoping this will get cleaned up when the game

Based on the early build of Aven Colony, it seems like the game is emphasizing its campaign mode to really differentiate itself from other city management sims. Aven Colony does throw a few more balls in the air for players to juggle, but how they are dealt with are no different than any other mechanic in the game for the most part. If Aven Colony is able to deliver an enjoyable campaign along with its sturdy, if not very flashy city management gameplay, then Mothership Entertainment will have a solid title worthy of being in a city sim fan’s library.

KONAMI announces UEFA Champions League partnership with Topps Trading Cards

KONAMI announces UEFA Champions League partnership with Topps Trading Cards

Sydney, 13th July 2017 – Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. has partnered with Topps Trading Cards, the largest global producer of Trading Card Games, which will see limited edition UEFA Champions League Match Attax Trading Cards for the upcoming 2017-18 tournament given away with copies of PES 2018.

KONAMI is an official partner of UEFA and enjoys exclusive use of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League competitions within the PES series. Topps Trading Cards has secured the rights to produce cards featuring players and teams from the forthcoming 2017/18 competition, offering fans the chance to collect the greatest players from Europe’s top club teams.

Beginning September 14th, a limited number of exclusive cards will be included in physical versions of PES 2018. These cards will be available ahead of the official launch of the new Topps Match Attax range, and will only be available for a short period.

“We are constantly looking for ways to extend awareness of the PES series to new audiences, and are delighted to be working with a UEFA Champions League partner of the calibre of Topps,” commented Jonas Lygaard, Senior Director – Brand & Business Development for Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. “These collectible cards are huge with young football fans and they can be the first to get their hands on them before Topps officially releases their Match Attax range by purchasing PES 2018 at launch.”

PES 2018 will offer the definitive football gaming experience, and we are delighted to link our 2017/18 UEFA Champions League collection with such a strong partner,” commented Rod Pearson, Marketing Director for Topps. “This year’s competition will be even more hard-fought and competitive than ever and the agreement between Topps and KONAMI showcases two very different ways to enjoy the progression of Europe’s greatest club sides.”

PES 2018 features more new additions than any other PES title in the last 10 years, and offers complete control over its on-field action. It boasts players that behave, move and react just like their real-life counterparts, with new additions to the control systems adding more fluidity to the game, while a new user interface makes accessing its many modes a simpler process.

The new game retains the immediacy and total control the series is famed for with matches played at a realistic pace. A new strategic dribbling system will offer greater close control, while, simple movements of the control stick can be used to effect shimmies designed to wrong-foot defenders. All set piece routines have also been totally reworked, notably the way penalty kicks are taken and a one-player kick off routine.

PES 2018 also allows more ways for people to enjoy the match day experience. Full 11-vs-11 online options, and the eternally popular myClub challenge where players build a team from scratch, are joined by co-operative 2-Vs-2 and 3-Vs-3 modes with support for local guests. The much-requested ‘Random Selection’ match returns with all new content, while the Master League mode implements pre-season tournaments, a new transfer system and pre-match interviews and an insight to the changing rooms.

PES 2018 will be released on September 14th for PlayStation®4 and Xbox One™. The game will also be available via Steam in a version that has undergone substantial improvements in terms of aesthetics and content, ensuring the game enjoys parity with the current gen formats.
