The Robot Rebellion Begins on July 10 when Insane Robots Launches on PlayStation®4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac

Award-winning Indie Game Studio, Playniac,

Bringing Card Battling HACKED to All Major Platforms Next Month

LONDON — May 30, 2018 — Award-winning games studio, Playniac, announced today that its unique card battler, Insane Robots will be sparking a riotous robot rebellion when it launches on July 10, 2018 on PlayStation®4, followed by Windows and Mac (via Steam) on July 12, and Xbox One on July 13. Players ready for robot-on-robot duels to the death may wish list Insane Robots today on Steam. Pre-orders will also be available soon on the PlayStation®Store and Microsoft Store for $15.99 / €15.99 (20% pre-order discount) for the base game and $23.09 / €23.09 for the Insane Robots Deluxe Pack (30% pre-order discount), which also includes a Season Pass with six DLCs.

Initially created as a tabletop prototype with a pile of old business cards, the creators of Insane Robots at Playniac have pulled from both physical and digital design processes. They have created a card battling game that captures what players love most about the genre, removing the elements they hate; namely expensive card expansions, time-consuming customization, farming, and an ever-rising bar that excludes players who don’t purchase more cards. This laser focus freed Playniac to create the perfectly designed battle deck. With only 22 tokens, it is easy to learn and manage, yet full of unexpected turns and strategic depth. Not to be confused with a collectible card game (CCG), Insane Robots is card battling… HACKED!

Insane Robots finds players leading a robot rebellion through randomly generated survival arenas. Full of fiendish card battles, it’s FTL meets Battle Royale in a card game. Overthrow the malevolent robot despot, The Kernel. Save robotkind in an epic 15+ hour single-player campaign full of peril and twists, as a decaying robot dystopia is revealed.

Master the battle deck and develop strategies in super-accessible local, online and single-player robotic skirmishes. Deploy HACKS and GLITCHES in the heat of battle and use your wits to terminate the competition. Battle with over 46 deliciously diverse robots in five hostile environments. Augment devious droids to grow more powerful and trade cutting, robotic insults with opponents along the way.

Key Features Include:

·     This is card battling HACKED with no costly expansions and time-consuming customization
·     Compete in intense local and online ranked 2P multiplayer battles
·     Experience the epic 15+ hour single-player campaign, overthrow the megalomaniacal Kernel and save robotkind
·     Unlock 46 robots and find over 100 augments to boost their abilities
·     Explore your tactical options to survive randomly generated survival arenas
·     Master the 22-token battle deck and define your own style of play
·     A compelling narrative with over 150 branching story events
·     Explore five types of hazardous environment from lush jungles to barren Moonscapes

About Insane Robots
The core Insane Robots battle system was originally created in 15 minutes as a tabletop prototype using a pile of old business cards. This was only the start of a substantial physical and digital design process. The Playniac team has been playing and iterating the game since then, running tabletop sessions in their studio and at festivals worldwide during 2013-2014. Development of the digital game started in Jan 2015 and 15 people have worked on it including developer/designer Tom Kail (80 Days, Biome); artists Catherine Unger (Snipperclips, Detecive Grimoire, Haunt the House, The Swindle), Fran Court (Hue, Stealth Inc 2, Frozen Synapse 2, New Art Academy 3DS) and Belinda Leung (Total War, Pokemon Art Academy); illustrator Karen ‘bitmOO’ Teixeira (Twelve a Dozen, Oceans Heart); writers Yasmeen Khan (Fallen London) and James Wallis (The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Paranoia RPG); and designer/developer Rob Davis (International Racing Squirrels, Cat On Yer Head, Anomaly X). The game’s soundtrack includes tracks by Noise 5000 and legendary French electro producer Kid Loco.

Three New Pokémon Titles Announced for Nintendo Switch

It was the Pokémon press conference in Tokyo today. The next generation of the core Pokémon titles is coming in 2019, but details are still under wraps.

In the mean time, Nintendo announced two new Pokémon titles for the Switch. Pokémon: Let’s Go will come in Pikachu and Eevee editions. The game is a more casual experience that draws from both Pokémon Yellow and the wildly popular Pokémon Go. Set in the Kanto region, the game supports up to two players and motion controls with the Joy-Con. Players will be able to import the Kanto region Pokémon they catch in Pokémon Go and import them into Pokémon: Let’s Go.

An optional Poké Ball Plus accessory will be available that will let players control the action like a real Poké Ball, including feeling a Pokémon rumble inside as they are being caught. Just be careful not to throw it into the television.

The games are set to launch on November 16, 2018. More information about Pokémon: Let’s Go can be found at the official site.

The second title is Pokémon Quest. It is a free-to-start eShop title that is available now on Switch, with a mobile release to follow in June. The voxel-inspired action-RPG is set in Tumblecube Island. Players will lead up to three Pokémon in a journey to explore the island, collect loot, build a base, and befriend new Pokémon. More information on Pokémon Quest can be found here.

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! Arrive This November Featuring Interactivity with Pokémon GO

Pokémon Quest Released Today

Bellevue, WA—May 30, 2018—During a special Pokémon press conference in Tokyo today, The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo announced three new ways to play Pokémon for Nintendo Switch™—Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!, and the free-to-start Pokémon Quest. With the addition of these new titles, Pokémon is broadening the scope of video game offerings from the franchise to appeal to its wide variety of fans at all player levels. Pokémon also announced that the next introduction to its popular core RPG series, which was teased last year at E3, will arrive in late 2019 on Nintendo Switch for the first time.

Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!

With Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!, Pokémon is inviting fans on a new journey by taking them back to a familiar setting. Inspired by Pokémon Yellow, which was originally released in Japan on Nintendo’s Game Boy in 1998, these two new titles feature many of the intuitive gameplay functions offered to players in the hugely popular Pokémon GO and are designed for players taking their first steps into the Pokémon video game world. Trainers will embark on an epic adventure set in the iconic Kanto region joined by their trusty Pikachu in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Eevee in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! They feature brand new gameplay to make the most of the unique capabilities of Nintendo Switch, such as throwing Poké Balls to catch Pokémon by swinging Joy-Con™ controllers, as well as the opportunity for family and friends to battle and explore together in a new two-player mode. The games were unveiled in partnership with GAME FREAK, the games’ developers and original creators of the Pokémon video game franchise.

“With the launch of Pokémon GO in 2016 and the global sensation that ensued, millions of new players were introduced to the world of Pokémon,” said Junichi Masuda, director at GAME FREAK inc. “For many people, Pokémon GO was their first experience with the Pokémon brand, so we have crafted these two new titles to be an accessible entry point to our core RPG series while giving our longtime fans a new way to play Pokémon.”

The connection between these two new titles and Pokémon GO doesn’t end there – literally. GAME FREAK and The Pokémon Company teamed up with Niantic to bring next-level innovation by offering players the ability to connect their Pokémon GO to their Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! game. Players can catch Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region in Pokémon GO and then transfer them into their Nintendo Switch adventure. Something special will also be coming to the world of Pokémon GO, making the connection between both games even more appealing for Trainers. Details for this will be revealed in the near future.

The Poké Ball Plus* a device that can be used to play Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! in place of a Joy-Con or alongside Pokémon GO instead of the Pokémon GO Plus, was also unveiled, continuing the innovative ways to connect the games. The Poké Ball Plus features motion controls, lights up with a variety of colors, vibrates, and plays sounds. When catching a Pokémon in the Nintendo Switch games, players will be able to feel it moving within the device. It also does more than function as a controller—using the Poké Ball Plus, players can bring one of their Pokémon from Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! with them as they explore the real world, giving Trainers the opportunity to spend time with favorite Pokémon even when they’re not playing the game. Additionally, Trainers can receive a variety of rewards once Pokémon are returned to the Nintendo Switch games.

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! will launch on 16 November 2018, exclusively on Nintendo Switch. The Poké Ball Plus will be available at participating retailers on the same day.

Developed by GAME FREAK, Pokémon Quest takes players across Tumblecube Island, where everything’s a cube—including the Pokémon. Travel the length and breadth of the island hunting for treasure, battling with wild Pokémon, discovering unexplored territories, and even cooking tasty treats to tempt new Pokémon to join your party. Gameplay features of Pokémon Quest include:

  • Battle by tapping—Pokémon Quest uses simple touch controls that can be enjoyed by everyone.
  • Befriend many Pokémon—Use items collected throughout expeditions to befriend a wide array of Pokémon.

  • Customize your base camp—Decorate your home with cute and fun collectibles that not only look good, but can provide in-game benefits.

“This new Pokémon title, developed by GAME FREAK, lets players explore the island of Tumblecube with their team of cute, cube-shaped characters known as Pokéxel,” said Shigeru Ohmori, director at GAME FREAK. “Players will be able to personalize their Pokémon and develop a strong bond with their Pokémon friends while battling their way through the adventure. With the simple touch-screen controls, Pokémon Quest is a game that Pokémon fans of all ages can pick up and play.”

Pokémon Quest is an entirely new way for players to explore and experience the Pokémon world,”

Pokémon Quest is free-to-start and available to download today on Nintendo eShop. Pokémon Quest will also be available on mobile devices via the App Store and Google Play in late June this year.
