WARNING! SPOILER ALERT!

As revealed in these photos (below) from Comingsoon.net, The Iron Patriot will appear in Iron Man 3. These photos appear to be worn by James Badge Dale, who plays the role of Eric Savin. In the comics Savin becomes the cyborg villain Coldbood, so why he is wearing the Iron Patriot armour is unknown at this point.

To add to the confusion, the armour first appeared in Dark Avengers #1 (2009) after the death of Captain America and invented by Norman Osborn. This presents two problems. Firstly, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America is not dead. It is also highly unlikely he will die as Captain America 2 is supposed to be in the works once Thor 2 is wrapped. Furthermore, Sony Pictures currently owns the rights to Spider-Man and Norman Osborn is a Spider-Man character, meaning he can’t be featured in Iron Man 3 as it is not a Sony film. This could mean that a few details about the Iron Patriot will most likely be changed. But for now, who knows!

Iron Man 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 3, 2013. As for now, check out these paparazzi shots of the armour below!
