Bet you didn’t see it coming! The video game Saw is getting a sequel. What can you expect though? There are 6 Saw movies (not to mention a 7th one being made; if you’ve seen the 6th you’ll know what I’m talking about), might as well make 6 Saw games to go along with them.
RPG Neptune features fantasy game industry
Japanese RPG developer Compile Heart has put into works quite an interesting RPG. Mostly because the world in which the game takes place in is called Geimugyokai which literally translates into Game Industry. Geimugyokai itself is split into four different continents and each one is governed by a different goddess. The four worlds are Platetume, Rinbox (360), Lasdition (PS3), Ruwii (Wii) and the four goddesses are Purple Heart(Neptune), Green Heart(360), Black Heart(PS3), and White Heart(Wii).
Not only that but video game companies will also have their own special characters, and I can’t wait to see exactly who will be represented and how they will be treated depending on their relation to the game makers. There will also be a monster-rancher type feature included, as you will be able to summon guardian angels from other video games or from pictures inside the PS3 photo album.
The only person who I don’t recognize is Platetume. Being as her color designation is purple it could be a reference to either Sega Saturn or another type of console from the past.
The game is slated for release in Japan this Summer, though an exact release date is not set. With the way the game is set up it’d be pretty interesting to see if this also made the journey to the USA. Who thinks this is a unique concept with the way they are mimicking the real world counterparts of console rivalries.
Microsoft points more reasonably bundled
After the April 6th update a small feature has gone mostly unnoticed until now, and they are for more convenient than before. Being sold in bundles of 400 increments which mirrors the prices of all normally priced arcade titles.
Before the update Microsoft Points were sold in bundles of inconvenient 500 points in the United States. Meaning to even purchase a 1200 point game, you would be required to purchase 1500 points unless you bought a points card directly from a store.
Honestly this is great news because it made for lots of wasted points and money to have purchased points in such a manner. Now though there won’t be any excess points wasted on a theme here or there just to go back to zero.
Who would have thought… PS3 “portable”?
The PlayStation 3 Slim is quickly boosting Sony’s reputation in the gaming industry in terms of availability to the public and pricing. Like most hardcore gaming consoles, you can’t really take it on the road.. or so we thought.
The Japanese gaming hardware company, Hori, has come up with a fantastic way to bring your Sony PlayStation 3 on the road. Hori has recently announced that it plans to release an HD monitor that comes with an attachment that encases the PlayStation 3 Slim and allows users to play console games on the display. The monitor is an 11.6 inch screen, has in-built speakers and can fold over the PlayStation 3 console for easy portability. The only downside is that you would need to have an AC outlet in your car, or wherever you are to power up the console.
Hori has told us that they plan to release this accessory on the 27th of May in Japan for around $260 US. The monitor supports both PAL and NTSC, which means PS3 consoles around the world will be compatible.
iPhone OS4 Details Released
At Cupertino, CA, Apple’s Headquarters, Apple has released a large update involving the upcoming operating system update for the iPhone. The biggest update is great for everyone who enjoys to play games on their iPhone, like me.
The first feature they have included and one of the biggest is called Game Center which will be a social gaming network much like Xbox live is today. I liken it to Xbox Live because Game Center will be including an achievement system much like the Xbox 360. It will also include various leaderboards, friends lists, matchmaking, and even the ability to invite friends to whichever app you are currently playing in Game Center.
Another new feature announced is Multitasking. This is definitely good news because from what has been released; you will now be able to seamlessly transfer your screen between at least 4 different currently used at the same time. However though don’t get your hopes up too high, because at the moment the only things that can truly be multitasked are Audio, voice over IP, location tracking, push notification, local notification, task completion and fast App switching. So overall the feature may help you play an application while talking to someone on the phone easier, but it wasn’t extremely complicated in the first place. Though the ability to switch quickly between two apps on the fly will at least speed up transfer rate and save battery life from excessive loading.
A handy feature being released as well is one that pretty much all computer users know and love; Folders. OS4 will allow users to create folders to place various applications or other information in at a time. This way you can cluster together all your RPG games in one folder, all the various tool applications like the handy flashlight into one easy to find area as opposed to navigating screens full of apps.
They’ve also made a universal mailbox, effectively just making it so that every e-mail address you supply inside the iPhone will cluster into one mailbox at once, such as Yahoo, MSN, etc. Plus a few new ad programs that will be incorporated into certain apps.
Overall the updates are good news, though some less than others. The Game Center appears to be the highlight of this announcement, however what about games that are already using leader boards or achievements based off of current companies such as Crystal and Open Feint? Will these no longer be able to be supported or will they still be able to work with current apps that use them. Only time will tell.
For the iPhone and iTouch the OS4 will be released this summer. For the iPad the release comes a bit later in the fall of this year. iPhone 3G and iTouch second generation will not be able to use every update listed by Apple, but they will be able to utilize most. iPhone 3GS and the latest generation if iTouches will have no problem.
What’re your thoughts on this upcoming update? Anything catch your eyes?
Pokémon White & Pokémon Black Revealed
Yet another generation of Pokémon has been announced!!! This makes the 5th generation of Pokémon now. The one above is Pokémon Black, and below is Pokémon White. There is limited information about these two games at the moment, except that they will be arriving in Japan sometime in Fall 2010, and early in 2011 in America. As well as the fact that the game will be arriving on the standard DS, no need to worry about this game being released only for the 3DS.
The website alludes to more information being released on April 15th. I’m quite excited about this announcement, because I grew up during the Pokémon era, and honestly I don’t think I’ll ever avoid enjoying them. Not only that but this is now the newest generation in a few years now. Anyone else wondering what they are going to change this time around? It’s curious that these two have more basic names, as opposed to Diamond or Silver etc that have been released previously.

How do you like them marshmallows?
I have noticed something in the last week in MW2. Aussies are a bunch of camping $@#$&*^&^&%(*%$#(*^*%@#$!@#’s!!!
We finally got the matchmaking patch from IW and now we always (99.999999999999%) of the time play with 4 green bars, which is fabulous. The only problem – people who play Domination think its a camping fest. You may say, yeah but they are camping to protect the flags – bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! wrong.
Take last night for example, we played 4 games in a row where we won by over 150 points! Whaaaaaaat? 150 points in Domination? How is this possible? I will tell you why – camping. Those marshmallow toasting campers who camp on the other teams flags looking for kills and killstreaks.
Back in the lobby – I ask them – do you actually understand what Domination is about – it’s an objective based game – the objective is to capture flags – not over inflate your ego with killstreaks. Their response “I was protecting the flag”
The comments about them going to Team Deathmatch falls on deaf ears – we all know why they don’t play Team Deathmatch – they don’t know where anyone will be, there are no flags to camp near.
It’s not all bad – there are a few teams out there, clans and such who don’t camp and actually go for flags – these matches are way more fun and always end up very close in the end.
I would rather win or lose a game and have fun doing so, than getting a positive K/D ratio. Come on it’s a game – it’s not about stats – in the end who cares if you went 40-2 on Terminal. I have personal milestones I am trying to achieve (Prestige 10 and alot of the Titles and Emblems) – the leaderboard stuff, I couldn’t care less about (though I do give it hard to xI Rock Ix about his boosting) – tomorrow is it going to matter your K/D ratio is? This past week has made me want to snap the MW2 disk and flush it down the can ala Master Chef : Cock of Doody style.
What does everyone else thing about campers? What type of player gives you the craps in MW2? Knifers? Tubers? Quick Flukers..err Scopers? Give us your feedback.
@DuraRoc – Run’n’Gunner and proud of it!
